Menu is limited but there are some nice choices. I ordered their guacamole and chips to start. It was very good and also very popular. Next I had their street tacos with steak. Although the steak was well seasoned there were pieces of fat that were not very pleasant. It was a cool day but still perfect for patio dining so even though there were issues with the tacos I will return to sample other items.

Unfair to rate, as we were there during the military takeover of our streets. Helicopters and sirens added nothing to the ambience! The food, cocktails and service; however, were terrific. Next time.

Our appetizers arrived at 7:15. When our main dish hadn’t arrived by 7:40 (showtime at 8) we asked for it to be cancelled. Five minutes later, our main dish arrived. I eat fast but I don’t eat that fast!! We couldn’t even take it to go because we wouldn’t have had time to take it to the car. We weren’t charged for the main dish. Our whole meal should have been comped. I’ve been here many times and have had wonderful food and service. This was so disappointing

What is wrong with this place?! Every time we give Abernethy's another chance before a show or a concert, we arrive open-minded, loving the open-air setting & the incredible proximity to the Music Center theaters. We anticipate that the new chef from their revolving roster of up-and-coming local chefs will somehow dispel the previous meals' disappointment. Yet, every single time, we are disappointed. Disappointed by the prices (outrageous) & the quality (underwhelming) & the service (confused). This month's offering is essentially over-priced, non-descript Mexican. This is LA, after all, so if you're going to present tacos for $20, they better be amazing. Instead, we got an over-salty & over-priced speck of meat on a warmed tortilla. But what really bothered was the blatant added charges that another, less mercenary establishment would have absorbed, i.e. charging a separate price for chips when we ordered guacamole; and then charging extra for removing the "turf" in a very expensive ($50!) "surf & turf" fajita. I get that we must pay the price for convenience & proximity, but, after tonight's rip-off, we'll not eat here again. Next time, we'll bring a picnic and dine al fresco on the Plaza!

Enjoyed dinner with my mom before the opera. Food was plentiful and filling. Drinks were well paced. Staff friendly. Always love to come and see what’s new.

This is my third visit to Abernethy’s during Chef DeSpain’s time at the restaurant. I have enjoyed all three visits. Today I ordered the guacamole which is my favorite. Next I ordered chilaquiles with the green sauce. I found I prefer the red sauce but the entree was still enjoyable. Since today is her last day I look forward to the next chef.
