Celebrated an Anniversary before the show at the Taper. Our server Will was top notch, he was also the bartender but catered to us 110%. The Filipino cuisine is quite delicious specifically from a fellow Filipino who’s cautious about going the restaurants that server our dishes. The drinks were out of this world, the Tanduay Gold being served details the specificity of the restaurant in the realms of an authentic experience. Chef Atienza should be so proud of what he’s created at Abernethy’s.

A great atmosphere for pre-theatre dinner. Food creative and good, but not outstanding. Limited choices on the menu. The service was not good. Though the waiter was pleasant, we waited a long time in between appetizers and main course, leaving no time for dessert or coffee. This was a favorite pre-pandemic but a little disappointing first time back.

All was ok. At least there were vegan options which i appreciated. My friend eats everything. Server was very pleasant but drinks seem to take an inordinate amount of time to show up. Happened again when my friend had ordered a second glass of wine to enjoy with her fish and we had to flag someone down to follow up on it.

The concept here is great. Love the idea of rotating chefs. The Filipino menu looked good but the food was bland and quite expensive. Service was ver good. There are so many good restaurants in downtown, it’s hard to recommend over priced bland food, even with the pre-show convenience.

Great time! The food was unique and tasty. We started with the lumpia. Really good. I got the trout which was very flaky and served in a unique broth. My buddy had the ox tail and it was very meaty and tender. A must have is the garlic rice which compliments the dinner. Service was attentive and very friendly. A great place in the Plaza at the Music Center.

This was the 2nd time that I have been at this restaurant. The first time - our table of 5 - was disappointed in the food (particularly the pork belly). The second time - it took 30 minutes to get our drinks and the restaurant ran out of 3 main entrees. We were disappointed both in the quality of food and service. The server cancelled my entree because after 40 minutes it still wasn't ready - I ate appetizers instead. Mediocre place and very over priced. You are paying for location.

The lettuce in the salad was old and limp. To me there is nothing worse in a salad. I didn't find any of the food very interesting. The trout was the best of the dishes our table ordered. It came in a broth which was quite tasty.

Our second visit to experience Chef Geter Atienza's menu. We ordered the same dishes as last time, but in some respects not as satisfying as last time. Specifically: BBQ pork skewer: meat was a little overcooked this time and there was some gristle to be spit out. Steak and gravy: Meat was laced with tendon, so those chewy bits got spit out. Other dishes were just fine. Same server, very friendly and helpful.

Friendly and accommodating. My steak was undercooked and they prepared a whole new dish to replace it. The food and cocktails were truly unique and uniformly delicious. It is our staple before theater restaurant now - waste of time to go anywhere else.

on open table it is listed as American food, I should've looked at the menu. It's far from American. The only thing close to American was the New York steak that was half fat. 1 salad choice seaweed, come on really. No bread either . Service was good. We saw one group sat down left after reading the menu.

We were fortunate to have dinner recently and taste Chef Atienza's modern filipino cuisine. The lamb ribs adobo were really delicious, and an interesting adaptation on the typical adobo dish. We also really liked the kinilaw and garlic fried rice. Highly recommend the chia seed pudding - so yummy and a wonderful way to end a lovely meal.

Ate on a week night. Having read other reviews, I discussed the many negative reviews of service with my waitstaff up front. Got excellent service. Petit Syrah wine delicious!…get it early and let it breathe. Herb seasoning, gravy, and mushrooms on steak all had great flavor, but the tough, grisly steak spoiled the meal; I would rather have half the size but twice the quality. Corn shaved ice dessert was an adventure. Would I have it again? Maybe. Am I sorry I ordered it? Definitely not. Have enjoyed other chefs much more. Do LOVE the concept of changing chefs on a regular basis.

We had a very bad experience. We were there for an hour and still had not received our entrees. As we had theatre tickets we couldn't wait any longer and cancelled our remaining order which meant that we didn't have dinner. Their kitchen was obviously not functioning efficiently and our waiter should have let the kitchen know and us that there was a problem. WE WILL NOT GO THERE AGAIN!!

The service here was so subpar it is hard to figure out how they keep operating. The food was inventive and delicious, but the evening was ruined by the complete lack of attention from the server and the extremely poor organization by the kitchen. There was no effort to coordinate food delivery. One person at our two person table received his entree 15-20 minutes before person two. The side dish for person two came out just after the entree for the other. The side dish for person one arrived 10 minutes after the entree, and 5 minutes or more before the other entree. No water was ever served. The wine had not arrived by the time all food was consumed. I understand that things can go wrong on a night, but the server never bothered to stop by to see how we were doing, or to update us on the progress. There was no communication unless we flagged him down to find out what was going on. He admitted that wires had "gotten crossed" in the kitchen, but I saw this same service happening on tables all around us. He then said that the printer was down in the bar, so those orders were missing when we told him at the end of the meal to cancel the wine. All in all, a terrible experience.

This was my second time dining here. The first was the first night this chef started and the food we got was delicious. The kitchen was clearly in the weeds as there was a huge gap between ordering and our apps and.... eventually being told the chef had injured himself and no more food would come out. This time I allowed 2 hours to eat. Order was taken fast. Apps came quickly and with extra forks and spoons to serve since we were sharing everything. Before we were done with them the entrees were dropped with no extra utensils (in covid times do you expect your guests to put their forks in a communal dish?). There wasn't even a spoon to eat the broth with the fish. We asked twice for water refills. We ate very slowly and were done with an hour to go so we wanted dessert. Took forever to get our waiter, then forever to get coffee and eventually the dessert arrived at 740. The spoon to eat it with came only after I requested it. (The shaved ice was so good, but would have been better if I hadn't had to inhale it and get to the will call office to be on time for curtain.) The table nearest us was begging to have their order taken at 7 and their wine took 20 minutes because apparently all the beverage orders got given to the bartender at once. They were eating fast at ten til and hoping their check would arrive soon. This is such a shame because the location is lovely and outdoors and so incredibly convenient. And this chef is turning out terrific food. But at around 100 bucks a person out the door they must do better. It's not as though it's a surprise that every table must be finished and gone by 8pm. Two chances is plenty.

This is a convenient spot for pre-performance dining . . . but the story is mixed - there is an interesting Asian-influenced menu and the dishes were well prepared and presented. Service was distracted and uneven, however. While others were seated and served, we waited 45 mins for our main course and had to rush to make our curtain at the Ahmanson. Prices are were expensive - $17 for a nonalcoholic "mocktail" that was basically just lemonade. Will go elsewhere next time.

Lovely dinner and ambience. Our table was right at the open air edge of the restaurant. Even with the heat wave, it was comfortable and our waitress kept our water filled. I tried mussels for the first time - delicious. The shishito peppers were fantastic. We shared those to start as well as sharing the trout. Fantastic dinner and they made sure we were out in time for the curtain.
