   What is wrong with this place?! Every time we give Abernethy's another chance before a show or a concert, we arrive open-minded, loving the open-air setting & the incredible proximity to the Music Center theaters. We anticipate that the new chef from their revolving roster of up-and-coming local chefs will somehow dispel the previous meals' disappointment. Yet, every single time, we are disappointed. Disappointed by the prices (outrageous) & the quality (underwhelming) & the service (confused). This month's offering is essentially over-priced, non-descript Mexican. This is LA, after all, so if you're going to present tacos for $20, they better be amazing. Instead, we got an over-salty & over-priced speck of meat on a warmed tortilla. But what really bothered was the blatant added charges that another, less mercenary establishment would have absorbed, i.e. charging a separate price for chips when we ordered guacamole; and then charging extra for removing the "turf" in a very expensive ($50!) "surf & turf" fajita. I get that we must pay the price for convenience & proximity, but, after tonight's rip-off, we'll not eat here again. Next time, we'll bring a picnic and dine al fresco on the Plaza!

   Enjoyed dinner with my mom before the opera. Food was plentiful and filling. Drinks were well paced. Staff friendly. Always love to come and see what’s new.

   This is my third visit to Abernethy’s during Chef DeSpain’s time at the restaurant. I have enjoyed all three visits. Today I ordered the guacamole which is my favorite. Next I ordered chilaquiles with the green sauce. I found I prefer the red sauce but the entree was still enjoyable. Since today is her last day I look forward to the next chef.

   We have been attempting frequent Abernathy‘s whenever we are at the Mark taper, the Dorothy Chandler or the Amundsen. This has been the best experience. Actually, one time we had our entire meal comped because the food took so long to get out so I’m very happy that this was a good experience for us and I’m looking forward to the new chef

   Have eaten here several times before the theater and concerts and have enjoyed the food, service, and the ambience. One little problem is that the dessert, a chocolate cake, was a little dry, but other than that, our experience was quite positive.

   It’s convenient to eat at Abernethy’s before the opera or theater. Service was friendly and efficient. There is a limited menu by rotating guest chefs. I had the salmon, which was delicious, but I thought the wild rice had too much maple flavor. There is a decent wine list and some specialty cocktails. My partner usually has a Bloody Mary, but he didn’t like their version, an umami Bloody Mary. We will probably look for somewhere else next time.

   Excellent indigenous ingredients based menu. Excellent food, this chef was not a diversity hire.

   Chose Anernathy’s because of its perfect location for dinner before a performance at the LA Music Center. Lovely patio, excellent food and drinks. Prompt service.
