We were so excited to be in NYC after such a long time and enjoy dinner at The Loyal. Dinner was beyond fabulous and we were already anticipating our next visit when we saw the restaurant is closing tomorrow, 10/3/21. We are so very sad to see such a wonderful place disappear. Our best to everyone there.
I have been to 2 of John frasers restaurants and they have both been outstanding great food and great service. Last night Monika Moss helped us with our wines and she was fantastic.
She went above and beyond to make the evening special. We will be visiting the rest of your restaurants.
Keep up the great work
My husband and I had dinner here before heading to the Comedy Cellar. We got there early for our reservation but they were happy to accommodate us. Took a table outside on a lovely early autumn evening. Food was terrific and our server was delightful. Highly recommend and hope to revisit soon.
All the food was excellent. They saw on our profile that it was our anniversary week so they brought us Prosecco. The burrata and the duck tots were a nice starter. We both ordered the filet mignon AI poivre, which was amazing. For dessert we had the Sundae Set: a platter with 3 scoops of ice cream, all the sundae toppings in little ramekins, and several different candies, like Dum-Dum pops, gummy bears, M&Ms, Reese’s Pieces, Boston Baked Beans, and more. We sat outside by the sidewalk and several people walking by asked us what it was- it was that impressive looking! And our server, Tea, was wonderful!
Overall, The Loyal is very good considering the taste of the food and the relative cost. Among the appetizers and small plates, Bay Scallop ceviche, Today’s Tartar and Octopus were very good. The Parker rolls with butter was very good but it costs $10 extra. The Miso-honey chicken entree was very tasty but the Streamed market vegetables that came with it as a side was sort of bland - something like Pomme purée would have worked better. The dessert options could be better. Wine list is decent. Service is good. The inner dining room with white table cloth is reasonably elegant. The general noise level is moderate and it increases at prime dining hours.
The food is excellent, and the staff were the perfect balance of attentive and knowledgeable, and also let you enjoy your food and talk. We never needed anything, and also didn't feel rushed.
Food was AMAZING but drinks were slow to arrive. Overall great place and vibe.
A very good restaurant serving very good food with a diverse menu in a lovely setting.
The food was still as outstanding as the first time I had it 4 years ago. The burger and duck tots are divine! I can’t wait to go back again!
Everything was just really solid from the drinks, the service, the food.
Creative dishes, small but varied menu. My filet was cooked exactly as I ordered. Threw in an hors de oeuvres for us to try!
Service was great, food was tasty, portion sizes were just right. We had asked to be moved to a different, quieter table and we were graciously accommodated. I guess I'll never adjust to Manhattan drink prices though. My cocktail was $19, which is probably inline with other NYC eateries, but it still bugs me.
Despite annoying notes of fashionable veganism and a cocktail that tasted like a summer armpit, food, wine and service were consistently excellent, and I would definitely recommend.
The food, the service, the ambience: all outstanding. We are treated like family at this incredible restaurant. Chef Nicole always greets us, bringing us exceptional food she knows we'll love. And everyone from the host to the bar staff (who all know us by name) are all-stars. The restaurant is consistent in its excellence so it's no wonder we keep returning. Plus it's great for people-watching! If you're looking for a true "NY" place to dine and want a great meal, this is your place.
The service was oddly erratic, but the wait staff did seem to try. We ordered the fried chicken sandwich, the deviled eggs, and the monkey bread. The eggs were okay. The chicken sandwich was okay, albeit dry. The monkey bread was inedible. Both under proved and overbaked, it was unpleasant and dense. It’s mystifying how they could get this one wrong since the dish seemed popular with patrons. The manager graciously offered us the bakery basket for “next time “ to make it right. We were very thankful but we feel no urge to return.
Excellent drinks and delicious food, including superb Vegetarian options. Plus the atmosphere was fun, trendy and packed! Would absolutely recommend to anyone, and will definitely be back.
Amazing dinner at The Loyal. The radish appetizer was wonderful, and the vegan sweet potato curry was out of this world. The fruit cobbler was the perfect way to finish. My servers Carmen and Esteban were both knowledgeable and helpful, and made certain that everything was perfect.
Dinner was a treat at this popular restaurant that can get very loud. I sat outside on a lovely evening and enjoyed an excellent meal served by a professional and competent young lady who provided friendly excellent service. The surprise of the evening was the deviled eggs! They were amazing. I also enjoyed the tuna steak that was served rare, which is how I ordered it. It, too, was delicious and was served with some perfectly crisp French fries. I will return.
Outstanding meal and service!
This restaurant is quintessential NYC - casual but sophisticated, elegant comfort food, awesome cocktails often presented deconstructed. The Happy Hour options are amazing (e.g., $2 yummy oysters, avocado mash, deviled eggs) and the menu has something for everyone. Service is still climbing up to pre-COVID standards, but that’s true of virtually every restaurant these days.
Food and drinks were delicious and service was outstanding. Appetizers: oysters, avocado, caesar salad, burrata. Entrees: Tuna, Squid Ink Pasta delicious. Best burger ever. Sundae for dessert was alot of fun.
A delightful dining experience. The food was terrific as was the service!
Had a 6:00 res for 2 on Friday. Staff was very friendly and sat me when I arrived ~10 min early at the far end of the long booth with my date. The rest of the booth didn't really fill in till closer to 7. I had seen several reviews saying that the plates were small, so we each ordered an appetizer, scallop ceviche and charred octopus, an order of deviled eggs and then we each had the tuna frites. Everything was cooked perfectly, elegantly plated and delicious. We were quite full and satiated and I thought the portioning was just right. We were too full to order desert, but the chef sent out an order of the maple custard, compliments of the house which was very generous and it was creamy, rich and a nice decadent end to a great dinner service. I recommend sharing a desert. I also drank two cocktails, a Verjus Signal and an off the menu Last Word, perfectly executed. Highly recommend eating here and I would certainly return.
From the moment you walk in, the deliciousness starts. The food 10 out of 10 the service, 11 out of 10. Amy and Josh were fantastic yesterday. The dessert was spectacular.
It’s one of the best restaurants in NYC, the food is amazing .. having tried dirty-martinis at 100s of restaurants, I would rate the martini at The Loyal as the Best ! Very friendly service adds it to a memorable culinary experience.
The hostess was the best hostess ever. Worked with me as my date was running late and we had a wonderful evening.
Happy to see that they were busy. It is nice to see the city return to some normalcy. We think our waiter was new and he had some issues, but the manager quickly stepped in and took over our table. Our friends really liked their cocktails and how they were served. We split two starters; the grilled octopus and the scallops ceviche. Both were excellent. We then ordered the miso glazed chicken, tuna steak and a pasta dish. Everyone loved their mains. The portions were not huge. For me that is a good thing as COVID was not kind to my waist line. We all left satiated but not full. We didn't have dessert but saw the 20 layer chocolate cake go by our table a number of times; it looked incredible. Atmosphere was great. Great pub/brasserie décor. Will definitely be back.
It’s hard to know where to begin; there is simply to much to gush about! Upon arriving we were quite pleased with the atmosphere. The dining room is perfectly dim and the tables were spaced in just the right way so that evening felt lively yet I could hear every word of my partner.
Upon being seated, we were greeted by a congenial team of servers and back-waiters. By far one of the best parts of the experience was the service, especially our server! Joshua was charming, considerate, and efficient. It was hard to narrow down what to order from how enticing he made everything sound.
Everything we tasted was phenomenal! The cocktail menu strikes a great balance between cheeky and elegant, and I was pleased with the spirit selection. The menu has some tasty veggie-friendly options but meat lovers will feel more at home. My favorite dish was the burger, which comes with hefty (yet deserved) price tag. I never thought I could tear up at tomato but here we are. Even if you share it as a side, get it! The Filet Mignon and Tartare were also phenomenal. Run, don’t walk, to The Loyal! We will be back soon!
I've been to The Loyal three times for brunch and once for dinner and it's definitely one of my favorite new places. Great food, service and atmosphere. Will definitely be a regular spot for me.
Had a great meal at the Loyal. Food was great-- ceviche, burrata, oysters etc and especially the orechiette pasta dish. Service was excellent, and our server was super nice and helpful. They made Fathers Day special with a sparkler in the ice cream sundae dessert-- can't wait to go back.
The food and service was fantastic. I would recommend this bistro for anyone looking for a fabulous meal and accommodating waitstaff. Try the kale miso chicken caesar!!
We had a very nice dinner there mostly due to the excellent service of the floor manager who realized that the staff was still trying to get up to speed and and our orders. He did what every manager should do in this situation - he brought us a complimentary drink and a food item and kept checking on us - it was very much appreciated!
We love this place! We went with another couple (for their first, but not last visit) and were treated warmly by the staff (as always). While I felt we'd tried everything on the menu, there's always something delicious and new that catches my eye. Our first-time guests were equally impressed with the menu and vowed to return.
For a restaurant, its hard to get the combination of food, service, décor, and ambience "right", but this restaurant gets it perfect.
Some of the best food in NYC, and definitely the best at any gastropub. This is upscale food in a great informal Bleeker Street location. Sugar donuts only item open for improvement, all else puts Nicolle in the firmament of fine chefs!
Bring back the fried chicken sandwich - it's too good to keep solely to the brunch menu!
Food was great, and our server was wonderful! The food came very quickly, and the wait staff knew how to be present but not obtrusive-- a rare quality these days!
Loved the Loyal! The staff was incredibly kind and attentive from the moment we walked in! We always had our waters filled, our delicious bread basket came out right on time and the brunch entrees were delicious! We will be coming back for sure for any dinner or brunch occasion. It's a must try
We have been huge fans of The Loyal ever since it opened.
While we enjoyed ordering take out during COVID, it is great to have them back in the neighborhood.
The staff is friendly yet extremely professional and the food and cocktails are always delicious!
The general manager was so kind and the drinks are amazing. Very fun experience and the vibe is fancy yet approachable.
This cozy-cool, new American bistro provides food with exciting flavors, amazing service, fabulous drinks, and off-the-chart desserts. The spicy rigatoni and vegetarian options are always highlights of the menu. Land a reservation here and you won't be disappointed. It's one of our favorites for date nights and celebrations!
