Tavolo Wine Bar & Tuscan Grille - Providence
Great service and yummy food!
Service was amazing, we arrived and got seated immediately; food was delicious. I just wished the restaurant went a little above and beyond for the occasion of our anniversary which they were notified of when the reservation was made (nothing was done, no special set up, no symbolic gesture not even a mention of it).
Service and food was great!
Met some friends for "Wine Wednesday" - Half off Full Bottles of Wine. Dined at the bar so we also got to enjoy the happy hour appetizers. What a great deal, great food, great service!
The waitress was outstanding and the food was excellent!
We have been before. Brought 2 other couples with us this time. We had a drink at the bar while we waited for our table to be ready. Normal Saturday night wait of about 15 minutes. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. A few of us got wine flights to start before selecting a bottle to share. By far one of the best wine menus. I believe our server was Ryan, he was very informative and efficient with service. We look forward to dining again. Next time we are hoping to catch the live music!
Always a good meal at Tavolo. It was very busy, but they had my favorite still available - Grilled Swordfish! Delish. My wife has a gluten allergy, they always prepare a great meal for her to enjoy. Sever was very efficient. We will definitely be back again!
We usually go to the one in Smithfield, but couldn’t get s table for the time we wanted. So we tried the Providence location. It was a great experience from the quick service valet to the “make you feel special” service. The meal was well paced and delicious. We will be returning... often😎
This was our first visit. Everything was great - service/food/ambiance. We will definitely be back. Their wine list is top notch!
Delicious food, server was great! Will definitely be back again!!
Very dissatisfied with food quality, sent one dish back but we could have sent at least 3 out of 4 dishes back. Very noisy and our waitress was so distracted and they kept braking dishes all around us. We definitely aren’t going back!
Saturday night 2/16/19 was our second bad experience at Tavolo and our last. It was clear that management had overbooked reservations. By 7:00pm three meals were no longer available from the nightly specials or main menu. Our party of 6 waited 2 hours and 10 minutes for our meal to be served and we were not the only ones. Our waiter was clearly overwhelmed but frankly made the situation worse by avoiding rather than communicating with us about the issues. The entire operation was so disheveled we weren’t even served bread. When the food finally came, most were luke warm in temperature. One pork dish was so over cooked and dry it was uneatable. With the restaurant competition on Federal Hill being what it is, I can’t imagine how Tavolo sustains. Again this was our second bad experience. This first being this past summer when service was again horrendous but we thought “everyone can have a bad night”. We won’t be coming back for a third try.
Food was excellent! It was Valentine's weekend so it was hectic and there was a mixup in the kitchen so food took a while. The owner came out herself, served our meals explaining what happened so I thought she might comp a drink or dessert. No she comped our 4 entrees! She turned a tough situation right around with superb customer service! I will be back!
We spent more time waiting than eating. We had a reservation and had to wait 20 minutes for a table. Once we sat down, it took the waiter over 10 minutes to check in on us. Luckily our wine and apps came quickly because it took just about an hour for our food to arrive. When we were eating, the waiter never cans back to check in on us. Too bad for him because we would have ordered more wine. The food was good, but not good enough to justify the bad service.
Food was wonderful...service was the worst. Asked 3 times for water to be refilled. Tried numerous times at the end to request a wine. One person in party was asked if they wanted dessert...they said no so the bill came. We may try again but not with friends to see if service can potentially match food. Feel badly..i never post a bad review but service waa horrid!!!
We had been for drink about a month before and I liked the atmosphere. We had a 6 pm reservation and the meals came after 7. I got the special - Sword fish. The swordfish was very good, potatoes and asparagus were room temp (I think the waiter said it was supposed to be green beans) My daughter got a chicken pesto pizza and asked for no tomatoes but it had tomatoes. My husbands bolognese was unimpressive. He gets bolognese alot so his standards are high. I could tell by looking at it that it would not be great. It was not very meaty. My son and other daughter were happy with their pasta and chicken parm. Slow service from the waitstaff. He kept reassuring us it was coming but it didn't. We won't go back. There are too many restaurants on Atwell to try to go back to a mediocre restaurant.
But right especially once the dinner hour came. A bit pricy on meals and drinks. Generous portions.
Our food was very boring. Carrots and green beans flavorless, mushy, and over cooked. Risotto balls lacked flavor and were dry. Pasta dish bland. The short rib felt tender but was hard to cut and chew, and like other items was bland.
Excellent food, service and wine. Best Italian we have had in Providence. We were seated near the kitchen so that was a little distraction, but that was the only issue.
Our waiter was out of sorts and seemed inattentive at times.. and then, when I received a steak that was completely charred on one side, he tried to convince me to eat it since the inside was fine. Had to return the $30 steak. The Bolognese over ravioli was watery and forgettable. Overall, disappointed.
Dinner was excellent. Usually I hate to go out on Valentine’s Day because of the crowds the quality of food goes down. But that not happen, my Salmon and my wife’s salmon was probably the best I’ve ever had. She had it the way it was suggested on the menu and I asked to have it with risotto and spinach and they both were unbelievable. Still my favorite restaurant, thanks for a great Valentine’s Day celebration Tavolo’s wine bar. Kasia was excellent
Best server ever! Kayla Cartier!
We had an amazing time at Tavolo. The service was great. Our waiter took the time to go to the kitchen to get a taste of something my husband was thinking of trying that he had never tried before to make sure he liked it. The food was fantastic. Would definitely go back again when in Providence.
Wonderful time, food and wine was great and wait staff were fantastic
Food was good, great value during restaurant week and we had a great waiter. They were out of a lot of beers for some reason.
My spouse and I were initially seated at a table in a poor and cold location. My spouse asked the hostess if we could be moved to another table and was told none were available. The server saw that we were unhappy with our table and did not hesitate to find another table for us. I am not sure why the hostess refused to reseat us. The servers were excellent- very friendly and helpful. This episode with the less than helpful hostess started our restaurant experience off poorly, but the wait staff helped to change our mood.
I have been to Tavolo several times at both locations and have had pleasant experiences each time. I went recently during restaurant week with some friends who had never been. We were disappointed with the food. It appeared as though the restaurant was not prepared for restaurant week. The first course we each had, caprese salads and beet salads were all sub-par, in presentation and quality. I had the steak frites and the beef, although cooked to my order, was very tough. My wife had a ravioli dish and there were only two ravioli's hidden in the sauce. Also, they had no dessert choices on the list. This we could not understand. Everything seemed to be in disarray. We will not likely be returning as there are too many alternatives.
Was okay.... not likely to return it this location
Staff was nice and the space is nice but the food was just fair.
Excellent service and food. They ran out of their two best cuts of steak, Bud light and no espresso. This is not good management for a place on the Hill
New Year’s Eve
I thought the food was very good. I had Veal Parmesan, so nothing too fancy, but it was well-prepared.
The wine list was long, but surprisingly had only a few Italian Wines.
Only one beer on draft, which I thought was strange, but they did have an extensive list of bottled beer.
Overall, a good experience and I would try it again.
Very good. Worth the visit. Staff is very efficient. Must try.
They seemed to run out of food and drinks. For example, a specific drink was ordered with no issues and the next time, they were out. When ordering from the menu, we were told there was only 2 left and had to order quickly before someone else ordered the item. Our waiter was not very good, we had to keep waving him over when he should have been checking on us periodically.
It was fairly empty on the evening we went which was between Christmas and NY. Service was great, nice wine list and fairly extensive menu. Food was good, not great. Service was very good.
We were sat by the door which wasn't ideal with the cold weather. The food was delicious though, everyone was happy with their meals. The waiter was friendly and attentive. The noise was a little louder than I preferred. I would return again for another meal.
We were a party of 4 and every one of us raved about our meals. From appetizers (calamari and rice balls) to dessert, all was delicious. Our waitress was excellent and made excellent suggestions. We were never rushed. Would definitely recommend.
This restaurant is excellent. We go here often. The food is wonderful, great wines and excellent service.
Valet parking was a plus- now I know i can easily return for another delish meal. The outside courtyard looks like it will be fun in the summer. Great meal!
Very cute place, nice wine list but the one wine we ordered they didn’t have. Server said the special was Cajun swordfish, 2 of us ordered it and when it came the waiter said ‘oh I guess we’re not doing Cajun tonight, it’s just grilled. I hope that’s ok.’ Some things could use some work but we will probably go again.
