I recommended very highly on line. I go by the name South Coast Connoisseur
We have been here several times. The menu options are fantastic, and the food is really good. Service has been excellent every time. Wine list is amazing and very fairly priced, with an incredible list by the glass. Only constructive feedback is they had music playing and a tv on with sound at the same time. So we had to listen to the tv compete with the music. One or the other would have been fine.
Great restaurant with a great atmosphere. Friendly and professional staff. Excellent tasting food (Calamari was great!). Will definitely be back!
Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. Our muscles appetizer had a very off taste. My husbands fruiti de Mari had crunchy pasta and most of the fish were the same muscles. We did mention this. My fish special was above average and dessert was good. Overall however it was disappointing.
Great meal, good service. Had a Groupon too! Also on Wed they do 1/2 off bottles of wine which is a great deal. Will be back.
Service was outstanding!! Food I expected to be a little more creative but it was comfortable. The ambiance was very moderate neither quiet or noisy but one could carry on a conversation without yelling. I would recommend this restaurant to out of towners....
Food was excellent and so was the service ! We will definitely be back !!
The young man (host) was busy chatting with his "old Friend" and did not even acknowledge us. i did not know he worked there. and as fate has it he was our waiter. Not a very good one at that.
he was constantly back chatting at the bar. We had to ask several times for him to clear empty plates when dinner came.
We ordered the Risotto balls as an app, they come 3 to an order and there were 4 of us so my friend asked for a 4th, he sent an entire second order. With our dinner. He also did not space out that appetizers and dinner.
After dinner i asked for Anisette in a Snifter and a coffee. he brought Sambuca in a rocks glass. i questioned him and he said its Sambuca, we don't have in a Snifter and a coffee. he brought Sambuca in a rocks glass. i questioned him and he said in a Snifter and a coffee. he brought Sambuca in a rocks glass. i questioned him and he said Anisette.
Bartender was great, he transferred our drinks over to the dinner tab, al lot of places wont do that.
The food was awesome, Risotto Balls were outstanding, Calamari was great.
the Pulled beef shank was amazing. Chicken Parm was awesome.
I have been to the Smithfield location and liked it The providence location was the same quality . A lot of places to choose from on Federal Hill but I would definitely return
All good . The food was great BUT could have been served hotter in temp
Great place good food nice atmosphere
Enjoyed the meal and the wine!
We've eaten in many places in Providence. Tavolo was excellent from standpoint of food, ambiance, wines and service. Great selection of wines both by glass and bottle. Will definitely try again. Wed night is half price wine bottles if you are local.
Food was great. Bartender Chris was very nice but unable to keep up with the crowd. He did the best he could but definitely needed help. Waited for silverware to eat our dinner which then sat for a few minutes. Also started at a table and no one came to serve us. Went to the ladies room came back then my date went and came back and still nothing which was why we ended up at the bar. Also tables are really close together. Felt like we were with the people next to us. I would recommend calling and asking for a window table.
Sloooooow service, several inaccurate orders and so-so food and drinks. A waste of $200. Will not go back. Too many other great places in Providence.
Had dinner at Tavolo to take advantage of Providence restaurant week menu and their Wednesday night half off wine bottles under $75. Short ribs were falling off the bone, and spinach ravioli were excellent. Enjoyed one of our favorite wines for less than we could normally purchase it for. Dining mid week also made for a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere. Excellent meal and service!!
Excellent dining experience all around! Will definitely be returning
Service was slow when we first got there but the waiter apologized and explained we had arrived between the lunch and dinner switch over. The service for the rest of the evening was very good. We decided to order from the restaurant week menu and were all very pleased. The food was excellent and very affordable. The salads were fresh and very tasty. The shortribs fell right off the bone and melted in your mouth. The cheesecake and tiramisu were wonderful. We'll definitely be back.
All 4 of us enjoyed our restaurant week lunch! First visit but will come back.
Food was great but service was very slow.
This visit was a bit of a disappointment for us. Service is average and our food was not as good as we expect. The friendliest person there is the valet, who provided very good service. I am not sure we will return.
Everything was great just didn't have the first two bottles of wine I requested. Otherwise Fantastic and would recommend
Great evening dinner. The staff is very friendly. Great atmosphere. Beautiful setting
Food was great and ambience too. Overall a bit loud since there was live entertainment and was NYE. Service was slow understandably because it was a holiday but the restaurant was packed and there were very few waiters on.
Lovely atmosphere for impromptu New Years Eve dinner with good menu, personable waiter and excellent 3 piece band with a Linda Rondstat type singer.
fabulous food, cozy ambience with live music. food was delicious and plenty of it!
2nd time we have been to Tavolo and enjoyed it. Food is very good and love the piano player atmosphere.
This was our first time here and we really enjoyed it. Our server was okay, but not great. The valet was the friendliest person there. We waited at the host/hostess stand for 5 minutes before anyone came over.
The food was great and the place has a comfortable vibe.
Waitress/Waiter was very professional. Food was great
Great food, service, atmosphere and great wine list
Romantic Evening in the City. Very satisfactory, wonderful and exquisite meal, the service was phenomenal. We cannot wait to go back
We had gone to the Providence location a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it. Ambiance was nice, our waiter was great as was the food. We had used a Groupon and were pleasantly surprised. When our son came home, we took the kids to the Smithfield location. What a disappointment! We were put in a backroom (the entire front was open and we had reservations), with no other people; crooked pictures - no ambiance at all! I could have gone to Wrights Chicken Farm! Waitress - horrible and the food was a let down. I was so disappointed!
We enjoyed coming to Tavolo on Federal Hill with some regularity… If you have not spent time with Kasha at the bar, you don’t know what you are missing… She is a wonderful woman with great conversation and quite the personality… Really everyone there is great, the food is spectacular, the drinks are out of this world and there is a very nice wine selection… We had a waiter named Mike who really knew his stuff regarding wine which was fantastic
Waiter (Victor) was very pleasant and attentive. Food was great, especially the fried calamari which was spectacular!!
One of a kind..The large bar encompasses the whole dining room which makes for a one of a kind environment. The wine list is fantastic and the red snapper and veal porterhouse specials were delicious. Will be back!
The service was awful--we specifically ordered wine with dinner and it came after we finished our entrees. The entrees came out at different times and we were charged for appetizers that never came. We had to constantly ask for more water and the overall experience was not good.
Great experience for 40th family birthday party. Server Mike was excellent, food on point and jazz music add nice vibe to the evening.
Date night! First time here and we were welcomed by hostess. This is a beautiful restaurant and nicely decorated for holidays. Soft jazz playing in corner made for a great atmosphere. As a wino, they do have a great wine list and I got a bottle of cabernet while my wife got a chocolate martini. Both were excellent and wine was at correct temp, though they had to serve the 2014 vintage rather than the 2013 as stated on the menu; Moderately priced and served correctly by wine director. Bread was warm and delicious with spicy olive oil. A great start. We took our time with trying their food and started with a margherita pizza. Crust was crisp as requested but generally was only ok. Flavors did not pop or stand out so we wrapped it and went to next course. I had the special - 16 oz veal porterhouse, mashed potatoes and spinach. Well, that is what I was told. It was quite a small '16oz', more like like 8oz with large bone, but it came with broccoli rabe and squash. Hmm, a bit different than what was described. I asked to get side of mashed potatoes and it was brought quickly. The veal was again just ok and lacked seasoning. For $39, I was quite disappointed and glad we got pizza as I would have been hungry at this point. My wife had braised beef ribs, with mashed potatoes, carrots and green beans. She liked the the vegetables and overall flavor, however, there was a lot of fat on beef and only could eat maybe half. It was not a good piece of beef in general and should have been trimmed better. We ended with mango and raspberry sorbet. I could not taste the mango at all and the raspberry, with chunks of tiny raspberries in it, was just ok. It did not pop like other sorbets I have had. So, overall nice atmosphere, good service, but disappointing execution on food preparation and cooking. I am not sure I will return. Well, maybe for the wine and atmosphere, but I recommend more attention to detail and execution. Hopefully this will happen.
Good food, good service. Will be back.
Excellent have been several times - never disappointed!
