Food is always good - just a little loud in the dining room
Tavolo is a great neighborhood restaurant. We've become addicted to the pasta alla Norma, but force ourselves to try other things. The salads are delicious and shareable. We haven't had a bad experience food-wise or service-wise.
Love this place. A cool little neighborhood spot with good food and drinks and wonderful service.
Great fig pizza and Carbonara!
I have never been at Tavolo when the food was not delicious. Always well prepared and presented.
Food was excellent: tasty, well prepared and a real value! Bartender (we at the bar) was friendly, attentive and made us feel at home. Real diversity in a very congenial atmosphere!
Could not be a nicer establishment. Ambience is perfect and the waiting staff truly made us feel at home.
Always delicious....never a bad meal! Very friendly staff and drinks are great! I wish they opened one in the south end.
good and diverse menu, nice wine selection (small but good) and great service
Love this great neighborhood spot! I had been wanting to try for awhile, and I'm glad I did!
Everything was fantastic
For some reason restaurant did not show my open table reservation, therefore had to sit outside. Especially strange now that I'm getting requests from open table to comment on the restaurant. Host was accommodating, but seemed impatient. Weather was fine, however speaker was right above our table. Server addressed it. Meal was excellent and my guests were superb.
We loved it! We had a group of ten and ten excellent meals!
Order seems to take an excessive amount of time to get to table. I had ordered the chicken picatta. Had little flavor, potatoes may not be the best choice to pair with this meal. There was an excessive amount of salt in the dish, so much so that some bites tasted of nothing but salt. My guest had the carbonara, this dish also had little flavor.
On the other hand the Sausage appetizer was great, lots of flavor.
Drink were good.
I would return In hopes that it was just an off night.
Made me feel very special on my birthday. Comped dessert for me! Loved the atmosphere and we got a nice corner booth.
Tavalo has been one of our favorite restaurants in Dorchester. It's a very relaxed atmosphere with a cool vibe. It's a good place to go with friends as it's not noisy and therefore conversation is easy. Sadly, we didn't have the best experience the other night. Our waiter, although very nice was not exceptionally attentive. we had ordered an appetizer before dinner that didn't arrive until our dinner was served (we sent it back...). The food was good but the chicken marsala was so salty it overwhelmed the marsala. The waiter ordered her another which came quickly and tasted much better (also, her meal was taken off our bill along with the appetizer). The chicken piccata was also a bit salty but edible. I think the next time I order I will make sure the cook doesn't add salt, or at least very little. We didn't have pizza but my wife and I love their mushroom pizza. There are many other good items on the menu and although the other night was kind of average overall, I would go there again. PS The manager (who we know and is great) somehow found out we were having dinner and sent us some complimentary desert.
Everything was great!
Food, service and ambience.
Perfect for Humpday Boys Night Out
will def. do it again.
Love this place. The food and the service are both first-rate.
Food was fine but not outstanding—so no, I woukdn’t go out of my way to recommend.
This is a nice restaurant and they generally do a good job. I am somewhat peeved with my last meal. I ordered the Gnocchi special and it was a little pricey for an entree; it was appetizer sized. It was delicious, but they had some nerve to make it such a small dish with relatively inexpensive ingredients. If they get a Michelin star, I’ll be more understanding.
charming neighborhood place--disco music too loud, but otherwise good pizza and excellent service
Tavolo is a favorite. Food is always delicious, service is always wonderful and the drinks are delicious. We keep coming back time after time.
For all of the great reviews I saw, I left horribly disappointed. Based on the atmosphere in the restaurant I thought the quality of food would reflect a high level of quality. Unfortunately not. Garlic bread was a small log wrapped in foil. Veal was rubbery. I could go on. For the >$20 prices for these meals, this upset me a ton. Would not go again. Food should have been ~$15 at bare minimum. DO NOT GO if you want good italian food.
This is SUCH a wonderful spot for any dining experience. It’s relatively
Hidden gem. Very good food. Never crowded. Only problem is parking is on street.
Everything was excellent. Best meatballs in town.
Popped in for a late night meal at 9:45 PM on Friday evening. Quick and friendly service, really good food. Couldn't have been happier.
Great spot. Parking stinks. But should improve when construction across the street wraps up
Waiter was not engaging and pretty absent despite the place being empty. So much so, that I didn't bother telling him that my drink was completely not what I asked for. We were celebrating and would have spent more on drinks had we been given some attention. The chicken picata, however, was good.
The food and waiter Ryan was the best date night my boyfriend has had in a while. We will definitely be there regularly!
Excellent food and experience. Wonderful waitress, wonderful food, and I was bringing some very persnickitty foodies!
The disco music was a bit confusing in an Italian restaurant (and I love disco music, just maybe not with a nice dinner and conversation). Even after they turned down the volume as we requested the disco vibe was very distracting. We recommend some Italian artists like Adriano Celentano, Eros Ramizotti or Zucchero as being more appropriate.
Also they had set the table of 6 as 3 on each side - cramped and hard to talk. We moved 2 chairs to the ends of the table and it worked out much nicer and there was plenty of room that way for servers to get by and for us to have elbow room!
Great service though - our waitress was fabulous! - and the food was divine as was the Vietti Barbera we drank copiously!
Love this neighborhood spot. Bustling on a Friday night. Always get the jars!
Love that Tuscan red!! Nice new menu! Great meaty lasagna!
Good food ,waiter could be more attentive. Good bear.I especially like the tour of Italy.I wish that they offered it more often or change the menue more often. I wonder if anybody will read this.
Had to wait a little for my reservation but they made up for it. Was definitely worth the wait. Food was delicious. Employees were friendly and fun. Right next to a T stop so easy to get to and will definitely visit again.
Food was delicious. I loved the chicken parm! Also enjoyed the cocktails especially the espresso martini. The service was outstanding and this place is so comfortable and cozy inside. I can’t wait to visit again.
Tavolo! Service was stellar, drinks delicious, and food was fantastic. Price point was unbeatable for Boston, we will be returning!
A great neighborhood spot, my two young boys loved their food and our server was wonderful.
Every Wednesday night a three course tasting tour featuring a different region of Italy. Food is impeccable and for $30 it's the best-kept secret in Boston. Get on the mailing list and you'll get a head's up of what region is being featured. Not huge portions but so flavorful. You will not walk away hungry, it is just enough. Good enough to wow a first date or have a special occasion party! T-accessible. Neighborhood parking after 6 pm.
