Honestly was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with an upscale restaurant. They weren't very busy but it took 15 minutes to get our drinks. When we got our food they didn't bring any silverware. I had to go up in ask because our waiter barley checked up on us. The pizza was horrible! It was bland and barley cooked I couldn't even pick it up to eat it. I really expected more from such a nice place. We will never go back there again!

Thoroughly enjoyable meal in swanky, chic atmosphere. The value for the food and drink provided made our Valentine’s Day dinner quite enjoyable. The staff was uber-attentive to our dietary restrictions and the food was so fresh and delicious. Can’t wait to come back!
Came with my wife for valentines. Chose the fixed menu. Service was great, food was ok, prices were very expensive for what you get. I would go back and get a drink and a pizza nothing else.

My partner like meatballs with spaghetti but taste blank. I order is fettuccine add to chicken best ever! I don't fond with raw egg yolk - I can't and they did remove with the same plate which I m fine with it!

We had a large party (of 11), however the reservation was later in the evening and there were a number of empty tables. We were greeted promptly, but the drinks were slow, the appetizers came after 25 minutes, and at 45minutes after being seated I went to find our server to ask if we could please order. That said, the food was good. Not sure I’ll be back - but if you have the time to wait, your dinner will be tasty.

It was really pretty in there, but that is one of the only highlights. The service was awful, the food was so-so. They forgot some of my order. I ordered the chocolate flourless cake for dessert, and I think it could be used in place of cement in construction sights. Definitely would not go again. Way too expensive for the quality.

Sadly a disappointment. Service was spotty with maybe a manager and server. Mussels were cold. I had the salmon. I make it much tastier at home. Restaurant was full when we arrived, however, it cleared out throughout our meal. The staff then proceeded to clear, break down and reset a large set up into many tables along w putting chairs on top of tables, taking amongst each other as if we weren’t even there. This makes me crazy. I believe a restaurant closes at closing time. Then the staff starts to close. Not before when you have one, two, or twenty customers. There might have even been vacuuming. Also, very much the atmosphere of hotel restaurant.

This was our first visit to Tavola. Our overall experience was good. We were seated promptly for our reservation. Drinks came fast; as did the appetizers. The mussels were awesome! At this point something must have happened in the kitchen because there was no food served to any table for about 40 minutes! The manager was quite nice and offered a bottle of wine for our table. Once the food arrived, it was hot and good. However, our server seemed a bit "off" and totally forgot our salads and drinks for a couple of our guests. Everyone has a bad evening sometimes and I know that the other reviews of this restaurant have been excellent for the most part. We would love to try again and order a few different things. Also, the side salad is strictly greens and a vinigrette. It could have used some shaved parm or another different type of lettuce. The dressing was very good. All in all it was a very pleasant evening.

We had one of the private rooms for our party. Great ambiance to visit.
Just a disaster almost all around. With the exception of getting the opening drinks order correct, our Valentines dinner was sideways all night. The menu said to ask about what the charcuterie plate entailed, we were told an asst. of meats with blue cheese. Intrigued (or stupid?) we ordered it. A LOT of prosciutto, a little cheese and a couple of olives and pickles, with 3 small slices of bread. Score it 2 out of 10. We then ordered a Squash Goat cheese pasta, this took 45 minutes to arrive as the kitchen lost our order. Apparently asking our server 3X did not assist our missing food. I wish I could share that the quality of the food was worth the wait, but to be fair and honest, it was about a 5.5 out of 10. I wish I could say that we cut our losses at this point, but I had not eaten all day and the 3rd basket of bread was not what I needed. We ordered a pizza and it did arrive in 20 minutes, but just not the ticket for a romantic meal at a restaurant that somehow managed a 4+ star rating. Let’s give some props to the manager, a super nice guy trying to make the most of the evening. We didn’t want to be complainers on an evening such as this, trying to be positive and upbeat, but this restaurant needs a serious overhaul in the kitchen, better training for the wait staff and have the sensibility by management to turn a bad evening into something worth our driving over an hour into trying again. This didn’t happen and I hope my taking this amount of time will save you a bad time too.

Food, cocktails, and service were all fantastic. Prices were special-occasion level for us. Place was dead on the Sunday night that we went. Music was a little loud. Would definitely go again.

We read all the reviews about poor, very long service at Tavola, but we'd hoped they would've ironed these out since they opened a year ago. We made a reservation with an open mind and high hopes. We showed upon a Saturday night and Tavola was only 1/3 full. Sadly Tavola continues to struggle mightily. They have a very nice physical space and bar area, connected to the attractive, welcoming Eliot Park Hotel lobby. Issues arose immediately when I asked our hostess her favorite wine. She had no idea, so asked our waitress to assist us. The waitress then went and got the manager, who joined the waitress at the table as we discussed their wine selection. I ended up with a nice red wine. 15-20 min later we ordered dinner, and asked the waitress what the tonnato on the salmon was.
Again, she went to get the manager. While the manager was there, I asked about her favorite pasta. She said they're all good, but said the Carbonara is the most popular. I started with the mixed greens, which had delicious shaved cheese on top - but WAY too much cheese!! It was like 5x the amount of cheese you would normally see, it was just smothered. We were in no rush as we enjoyed our drinks and salads. 75 minutes after we sat down the manager came up, wiped our table, and asked our our entrees were. But we still hadn't received the entrees! They finally arrived 90 minutes in, and they were extremely disappointing. My wife's salmon was very bland, and the fingerling potatoes she ordered were nearly raw and uneatable. My Carbonara arrived and looked beautiful with an egg on top, but was WAY too peppery (it's about all I could taste) and it had dried pancetta pieces, which were crispy but WAY too salty. It was really unfortunate, because I love carbonara. The only flavors I got were pepper and salt, and my mouth just shriveled up and I didn't want to finish it. How could such a basic pasta be ruined?! Very sad. We wanted to like Tavola, but I do NOT recommend it.

Tavola is a nice, low-pressure restaurant. The food was good, service was good. One of our group had a problem with a certain dish--the mgmt handled it quickly and professionally. It's a bit out of the way for our normal route into Minneapolis, but I think we'll be back.

Service was pretty good for the most part. It was kinda slow getting my card back after sitting for like 10 mins when there were 3 bard tenders behind the bar. The margarita pizza was ok but kinda bland. Not sure if I’ll try this place again or not.

Entree was outstanding - definitely would go back for another. Dessert pie crust was below mediocre and had to use a knife to cut graham cracker crust. Service was slow and inattentive. I'd go back when more servers available simply for the entree sans dessert pie.

We had lunch. On a weekday around 1:30. We were the only guests. Food was fabulous! Server was the bartender, who kept disappearing... Atmosphere/ambiance was pleasant even as it was devoid of other people. Value was a little steep for lunch but....

The two pasta dishes were well prepared and very tasty. The pasta was el dente. The roasted Brussels sprouts were cooked and seasoned perfectly. We were seated in the bar on a very quiet Sunday afternoon. It was not busy but the service was attentive and very cordial.

Ate here on New Year’s Day for dinner. There weren’t many diners, so it was quiet. Our only disappointment was the lack of gluten-free options. Many Italian restaurants offer a gluten free pasta, or a risotto, or a gluten free pizza crust, but not Tavola. I hope they offer GF options in the future.
Dear Melinda, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. I'm sorry we couldn't meet your needs with GF options. Chef decided to make all the main Entrees GF for that reason, but sadly we do not yet have an option for GF pasta or pizza due to concerns about contamination. Went here for New Year’s Eve with my fiancé. It was busy due to the holiday, but service was prompt and food was great. Noise level was at a dull roar which made dinner even more enjoyable. Great date night restaurant.

In time this may be a great place, but in the mean time.... Great hostess on Saturday evening getting us settled but it went down hill fast. Had to ask for bread 3 times and still did not get it. Had to go up to the bar to get my drink as it had almost been 25 minutes since we ordered it. Slow on the water. No one was really watching over us and the waitress seemed overwhelmed with just a few tables. It has potential but they need to get the details down and no one seemed to be managing the floor. That can't happen in a restaurant like this.

We got to the restaurant at 6 and it was completely empty, which should have been a sign for you us. We ordered, took forever to get the food. The food was bad and my son got sick when we got home

Christmas eve was very busy, with over 100 people in the restaurant. However 12/26 was especially quiet. Thank you for giving Tavola a try. Attention and service from the greeting host we good. Once seated we felt rushed to order drinks, then appetizers and entrees. The drink and food menus presented in person were not the menu shown online although similar. We chose Tavola intending to order certain menu items we had seen online. We ordered a Red Car Pinot Noir which was substituted with a different pinot noir; we weren't told of the switch but noticed it a bit later with the bottle sitting on the table. The pizza was nothing special, crust like Dominos. The charcuterie board came with two pieces of bread, no cheese and only prosciutto. There were four of us there for dinner, the final bill was $330 (including tax, food and 2 bottles of wine). Not a good value for the quality overall, very disappointing. We do not generally write poor reviews but felt it necessary, often giving an establishment a second try but we won't at Tavola.

I chose Tavola because it was my birthday and wanted to celebrate in a nice restaurant with my family and friends... that did not happen.
I can understand if you're understaffed (that's what they told me), but from the moment we got sat, it took forever to get service from our server, she really tried to give us her best service (not her fault), restaurant was not too busy but i can tell lack of management over here only one person was trying to do everything at the restaurant, our server.
Our drinks order took more than 20 minutes, no water was refilled until i asked, ordered couple bottles of wine from their wine list, they did't have them, ordered a bottle of prosecco and the cork almost slipped through her hands towards my face (no wine service standards) some wine and water glasses were not polished or clean? No steak knife for a $50.00 steak!!! they even brought us twice food from another table, after i talked to our server she apologized (accepted) and the Manager did not talk to us at all, he send the server every time something was off to apologize on his behalf !!??, maybe is new or not a manager? My experienced at this place, POOR, the food and the place, nice, that's all i can say. Minneapolis tourism deserve better service at this Italian restaurant.
Service was alittle slow but we were not in any big hurry so wasn't a big problem
Had a reservation for a special date night. I had put in the request open table box for a seat someplace quiet and cozy. We were seated at a two-top table in the middle of the restaurant. Which would have been ok as the place was relatively empty but the next couple that came through the door was seated right next (as in within touching distance) to us despite there being at least four additional empty two-tops. It would have been nice to at least skip a table between couples then fill them in as needed. Food wise, my first selection from the menu was not available (at 5:45pm), so I selected a pasta dish which I could have easily made at home from a box. The service was slow and I even had to ask to see a dessert menu as it was not offered. Definitely not a repeat place for us.
The server Huey was amazing. I ordered the Chardonnay but they were out of it, but I got another kind that tasted amazing as well. It was not too busy for the holiday. I definitely came back for the service and the food!
