Restaurant was a bit warm temperature wise, but great food and service
Great meal! Nice portions and very tasty. The Grilled romaine salad is warm and scrumptious. Nonna’s Meatballs were delicious. And they have PBR in a 16 oz can!
Our server, short spunky fun blonde, was amazing, fun, and professional.
We’ll be back!
Solid handmade pasta and we'll conceived dishes.
First time to visit. Will definitely come back. Happy to find a place in walking distance of the Music Hall that had an interesting menu, great food and good service.
First time to Tavernonna and definitely will return. Excellent food and service.
We love the spaghetti commodore and meatballs. The spaghetti is made fresh daily and always perfect.
Food was cold and service was slow. Needed to ask for more ice twice and did not see our server for some period of time. My French fries were cold and hamburger Barely warm
Our server was fabulous. Food was amazing! Will definitely be going back.
The menu is very limited. Also more lighting is needed in the bar as you can’t read the menu or see where you’re eating
Service was somewhat slow but waiter was friendly and courteous. Food choices decent for a primary lunch location. I would recommend for a place to eat when in downtown KC for lunch.
We were there on a Saturday night and it wasn’t too busy. Everything we ate was quite good!
four for dinner. Three enjoyed their meals; one did not. It was a busy Saturday so service was a little slow. Very nice, informed waitress. Will try again.
The service was wonderful - very attentive wait staff. The short rib I ordered was not up to par at all. I question if it really was a short rib. Too much fat. The other diner loved the artic char.
Prompt service with a very knowledgeable server who made outstanding menu recommendations. The bread served before the meal was excellent! Highly recommend.
My food was a bit too salty, but my companions enjoyed their meals. The service was good, and the atmosphere was nice.
I recommended Tavernonna to a whole group of friends! It was wonderful to enjoy a great value for money lunch of such high quality. If we are ever in Kansas City again, we’ll be sure to pop in!
We celebrated a birthday here and were delighted. The beet salad and grilled romaine are both unique and delicious. Highly recommend them. The steak was a bit grissly, but tasty flavors. The atmosphere is fresh and suited for both groups and small parties.
To be honest, I was very disappointed. I came in for lunch but only had brunch menu. Opentable specifically pointed out lunch menu from 11am-200pm which we came at 1pm. I asked if theres any other menu but no they do strictly what they have which is brunch menu only. It’s just so disappointing that we came all the way from Leavenworth to come to this place then whatever was in open table is not the same as in this restaurant. Also, the waiter wasn’t even helpful. I was disappointed. We ended up leaving.
Nice downtown happy hour/date night meal. Food is consistent and done well, and the service is good.
It was okay. The meal/starters didn’t stand out. Everyone was friendly. It seems like a couple of spectacular signature dishes would help.
I have a big problem with this. The food at Taveronna was spectacular and my waitress was absolutely phenomenal! But here was the extreme downfall...
I made reservations on Opentable for Tavernonna on January 15th. After doing that I decided that I also wanted to make reservations to the PS (the speakeasy) downstairs. Opentable would allow me to make reservations within two hours of each other for this location. So, I called Tavernonna (ps was closed) and spoke with them about it the woman which I wished I remembered her name told me that it’s general first come first serve and they don’t “like” taking reservations. So, at that time I asked to cancel my reservation for Tavernonna (I wanted to do this in thinking I’ll make a reservation with PS now and make a reservation than make one for Tavernonna the next day over the Phone). Following? Basically, wanted to make sure I had reservations for both. And this was WELL in advance. I didn’t tell the waitress that I was wanting to do this but after I explained I wanted to make a reservation an hours after this one to Ps speakeasy she told me no that isn’t going to work we do not do that.
Interesting Valentine's day menu with stuffed quail, seafood platter appetizer, and a take on tiramisu for dessert (more like red velvet cake than ladyfingers, but pleasant enough) . It did feel a bit disjointed, without connection to the menu. Service was attentive.
Excellent food, great menu snd friendly genuine service. Definitely will ho back
Dirty silverware rude waiter
Amazing food and service! Would recommend to everyone!
Lovely atmosphere, great food, even better prices! Would highly recommend!
Great setting. The food was very good and the staff did agreat job.
We had an excellent experience at Tavernonna. The atmosphere and ambience was perfection. The service was outstanding and the food and cocktails were top notch. They even offered a dessert or a champagne toast for my friends birthday which was a fun surprise. The Nonna's meatballs were exquisite and we learned they take 6 hours for the Chef to make. Don't miss the meatballs!
Food was excellent, it just took a little time.
Very convenient when attending a concert at Folly Theater - i.e., park once and walk a short distance.
This was our second visit. Both visits, everyone thought their meal was excellent - even the "foodies" in our group who are sometimes persnickety. (My duck was excellent.) Service was very good.
We plan to return.
Thanks for an enjoyable dinner.
THE FOOD WAS FABULOUS! OUR WAITER WAS FABULOUS. I THINK HIS NAME WAS JAKE. GREAT GUY. THE RESTAURANT WAS COLD. WE HAD TO ASK FOR THE HEAT TO BE TURNED UP.
Our first visit was during Restaurant Week. We all chose to order from the RW menu. Some things surprised us and some were just delicious. The tomato soup was wonderful (and I don't usually like it!). The bouglanese was really delicious! Others enjoyed the chicken parm. Desserts were delicious too! And just the right size. Good service. Quiet atmosphere. Delicious food. Only negative would be parking (although we did get lucky and get a space in front of the restaurant!).
Had great service
And amazing food!
We visited during restaurant week. The service was excellent. The food was good, but not on gourmet level.
We all 3 drove separately and parked in adjacent garage. The biggest disappointment was that we were told we didn’t have to validate our parking. When we all left the parking garage we all were charged $10.00!!
So after spending almost $60.00 per person, we got stuck with another $10?
What a racket they have going! We won’t be back!
The food was great. I'm still savoring the lamb / kale soup. It was fantastic. I had really great service.
The server was great. She was the saving grace of our experience. Restaurant was not at all busy when we arrived for our 8:00PM reservation; we tried to get in a little bit earlier (7:30PM) and couldn’t because they were just “slammed.” The heater in the restaurant sounded like a freight train when it turned on, and you could feel the blowing fan. It was actually cold. The music was cranked up and there were maybe 25 guests total, if that, in the restaurant. Not only was the music way too loud, it was not at all the right music for the ambience they’re trying to create; to be frank: it was awful. The entrees were fair (we both ordered the same thing) and my salmon was half-cooked and chewy. After waiting a bit before the server came back around, we were finally able to tell the server. She graciously offered to reheat the dish but, upon taking it back to the kitchen, the chef decided to re-prepare it. Thankfully, the salmon was cooked perfectly, but the dish overall lacked in the flavor department. The dessert was over-fried “beignets” which just tasted like burnt donuts. The entire experience went from “we’re excited to have a nice dinner” to “well, now I feel like I wasted $90 I won’t get back.” KC Restaurant Week seems to have gone downhill.
The staff was cordial and pleasant. The first course focaccia was hard with the chorizo not having much flavor. The house salad was very acidic with nothing to balance the acidity. The real chicken sandwich was very good the chicken breast was moist not dry with a flavorful charm to it. DA only would’ve been nice to have more garlic flavor but it was satisfactory and complemented the greens and the chicken breast well.
My wife and I went during restaurant week. This was the 1st time we went to this restaurant. I have walked by this restaurant many times but never had a meal here. I regret that I never ate in this restaurant in the past. We had a wonderful time. The food and service are exceptional. We will certainly be back again.
We attended restaurant week here and it was a wonderful experience!! Our only complaint was that we were unable to receive one of the desserts we ordered as the espresso machine was down, but they replaced that dessert with another! Will definitely be back!
Not the best Italian food, but great ambiance. Definitely go to speakeasy afterwars
