My wife and I really loved this place. The ambiance is cool. They make an excellent sazerac. The food was spectacular. We ordered a Cornish hen for two and I picked it clean like a caveman, because it was so delicious. I highly recommend it and, we will absolutely eat here the next time we visit Montrèal.

A great restaurant with a European feel, and with excellent and friendly service. The food is exceptionally good, my braised pork with goat cheese was delicious, probably one of the best meals I've ever had in my life.

We had the Cornish hen at Dominion Tavern and it was phenomenal. The meat was so tender and it was surrounded by an assortment of delicious roasted veggies. We’ve already recommended this restaurant to several colleagues and friends and will return when we are back in Montreal.

Very good service, interesting menu, ear-splitting noise level. Come here for the food (& drinks, I'd guess, though we didn't have any) but don't expect to be able to have much conversation with your table-mates.

I find there is not much to eat in your restaurant. I wish you had way more choices of salads. I dont really like the betteraves and goat cheese salad. It's been on the menue for a long time and maybe you could change it. The betteraves are good but the goat cheese is really not pleasant, it is salty and bitter. It you could change it for even a cheddar it would be much better. And if you could also not put croutons in it so it would give an extra choice for people who can't eat bread or gluten. Just a thought. :)

The three of us were in Montreal for a concert at the Bell Centre. We were there early and it soon filled up. The atmosphere went from quiet to vibrant while the service kept up with the crowd. We appreciated that and the friendly and knowledgeable staff. The local draft beers included an excellent red and the wine list met our needs. One of us had mussels, one had braised beef shoulder and one the Tuesday trout daily special. All were very good and not too pricey by Montreal standards.
The overall ambiance of this historic place means we will be back!

Enjoyed a meal during a business conference, my friend had not eaten there before and she was impressed. Service great, food always excellent, noise level high but it is busy so no problem there. It’s busy because it’s good and i have eaten there many times. Always worth a visit.

We were traveling to Montréal on our last stop through Canada. I suggest if you go to the Taverne, go for a drink but stay clear of the food. The four of us had 9 different appetizers to share for dinner. Please note that I’m a guy who eats everything and am not picky (a Pittsburgh term). I didn’t like 1 thing. Ouch. For example, the white fish croquettes were dry and fishy tasting. The corn fritters were dry, over fried, oily and over cooked and $10??? The Welsh Rarebit was awful. Tasted like a piece of thick bread with flavorless cheese, over cooked, on top. What a waste of an evening. With the number of great restaurants in Montreal, don’t go to the Taverne. BTW, service was inattentive. Had to ask for more water, for our check and then for them to take our check.

Visiting this restaurant and bar was one of the most enjoyable spontaneous visits I had done in a long time. This lively venue had atmosphere, energy and brilliant food. We felt like we were in an episode of cheers as people came and went, bar staff actively interacted with their customers (how refreshing) and chefs were visiable. The food was brilliant, reasonably priced and plentiful. I would recommend the beef with mash, but my wife had the salmon which looked fantastic. This was a must visit place.

Classic gastro-pub. The mussels were classic, the frites were classic and the beer was cold and classic. Quite loud but, yes, classically so. Amid the bustle of the crowd there was the personal touch of good service and great food.
