Taverne Square Dominion
Featuring a plethora of interesting 1920s-inspired design details, the Dominion Square Tavern is a cut above your average downtown eatery. Enjoy simple classic fare or british dishes such as mussels and fries, Cornish hen, scotch egg or bangers and mash in a warm, inviting atmosphere. Top it off with a sinful serving of sticky toffee pudding. A full bar, cocktails, wine and beers await.
Saturday and Sunday 4:30 pm to midnight
It was fine.... wish I knew what everyone seems to love. We all thought it was really not worth the money at all.
Great atmosphere, great service and great food. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and served at a nice pace from drinks, appetizer, main course and through dessert. The atmosphere is that of a 1920s or 30s bar. Would highly recommend.
Wonderful food and cool ambiance. Interesting cool cocktails. The sticky toffee pudding is a MUST HAVE.
Great place to enjoy delicious food and great drinks. The staff is very nice, the decoration is great and it's located in downtown. We always go there when we are in town!
Nice spot. We would not have visited except for Open Table. It is a spot that you could walk right by & not notice it. Food was good, service was fine.
A great proper English style restaurant. The food is beautifully prepared and well portioned. Ambiance and character in abundance at the Dominion tavern. Great Pimms cocktail, and amazing deserts. The service is efficient and not pushy. This is a place to come and enjoy eating at, not to rush.
The waitstaff was friendly, knowledgeable and very accommodating. The food was well thought out and prepared. Our first meal in Canada and it was a terrific way to start!
we met 8 friends for dinner, and it was great! Cozy, lot of space, nice staff and good food! Been here a couple of times with a big group, and really recommends it!
Great food and service!
The food was good, but i didn't find it to be worth the price. I had a $24 chicken salad. At that price I expected the biggest and best chicken salad ever. It was good, but nowhere near the best I've had....I've had better for a lot less.
The service was slow. We started with one waitress and then she disappeared right after our dishes were served, never to be seen again. We eventually got served by another person but it was slow and we seemed to be forgotten about a few times. They key to work lunches is to be able to get seated, served, paid and ready to go within an hour. We got out of there after 90 minutes and that was thanks to our pestering for our bill at the end. It could have been a lot later!
Sorry but the table d’hôte Friday wich is Fish’n ship was so expensive for what we ´ve got (24$). It is a meal that should cost no more than 16$.
Bad experience for a Friday lunch 😔
Bon service et repas interessant. Ambiance le fun.
I wrote this one year ago when we went to see Roger Waters. "The three of us were in Montreal for a concert at the Bell Centre. We were there early and it soon filled up. The atmosphere went from quiet to vibrant while the service kept up with the crowd. We appreciated that and the friendly and knowledgeable staff. The local draft beers included an excellent red and the wine list met our needs. One of us had mussels, one had braised beef shoulder and one the Tuesday trout daily special. All were very good and not too pricey by Montreal standards. The overall ambiance of this historic place means we will be back!"
We came back and it lived up to our expectations! As did Paul Simon!
Ok lunch place. Very noisy. Good service.
Very expensive and too noisy, it’s difficult to maintain a conversation of more than 5 seconds bevause of the noise. Otherwise good food.
My 2nd time here and the 2nd time 110% satisfaction. Outstanding service, fabulous cocktail options and solid menu options. Will come back!
Had a great time and meal at Tavern Square. Since we didn't come early enough to get a spot on the terrace, I might have been swayed a bit on my review. The interior is very nice with an old time feel. Service was excellent. Really enjoyed by Old Fashion with corn fritters to start. The beef shoulder was what many were talking about so I ordered that - it was just ok for me - maybe because I'm a Texas boy I felt it needed to have more flavor (like the Montreal smoked meat at the delis). Doughnuts for dessert were excellent. All in all, our group of four had an good meal, with excellent service, in a very nice place. Super location if you are downtown.
Perfect as all the other three other times i visit thaïs establishment.
Great seasonal food prepared with care. Professional, knowledgeable staff who gave excellent service. Great atmosphere and fun place to eat in downtown Montreal. Highly recommend.
A friend was in from BC for a conference and we had a few hours to catch up. It was the perfect venue. Thanks.
My boyfriend and I went to Taverne Square Dominion on my birthday. Since it was a Monday, the restaurant was much less busy compared to a Saturday evening.
The cocktails are really what makes this place unique and special, since they offer a lot of Canadian products, including Gins from a local micro-distillery.
In terms of food, the options on the menu are quite limited and well thought. The beef shoulder shreds super easily and the mashed potatoes were buttery.
Food and drinks were good. The one disappointment is the tiny table for our three person party. Had the restaurant next door been opened we would have change places.
Great, friendly service. Food is very tasty. Be ready to open your wallet. Adding cocktails and dessert to our diners, our bill was $300 for a party of four.
The Dominion Square Tavern doesn't disappoint! A little noisy/boisterous for a Wednesday evening, but most of the time, I could carry on a conversation with my friend. I had the tomato salad with bacon and cottage cheese - it was a little macerated, but delicious! I also enjoyed the Welsh Rarebit -- I will have that again! My friend had the mussels, and really enjoyed them! We both loved our Sticky Toffee Pudding with just the right amount of ice cream!
Somme toute, Excellent repas!
Excellent and carefully crafted cocktails, great ambiance and a proper Sunday roast. Couldn’t ask for more!
The service was good but it was too expansive. The food was good but not as we expected.
Everything was excellent. The service was exceptional. Everyone enjoyed their food and their drinks.
The food was amazing as usual, but this time the service wasn’t exceptional. Our waitress wasn’t attentive and almost never came to our table for water and such. When we would try to hail her it was as if we didn’t exist... pretty bummed about that. That’s why I’m giving 4 stars, food and ambiance were the highlight.
Food was great as always and service was fast and courteous. Dominion Taverne shares top spot among two other favourite comfort food restaurants in Montreal. But if I want to impress someone or feel a need to pamper myself this will always be my first choice. All the servers are first class and do their job as true professionals 100% of the time.
Fantastic ambience, great tasting pub style food, and awesome mixed drinks.
Service was very slow
