We have been to Taverne Gaspar many times and really enjoy it for a casual evening out! They served great 'comfort food' and service is always attentive and courteous. The atmosphere is fun and energetic and its location in Old Montreal is hard to beat. Strongly recommend!

All in its a great spot with good food, good atmosphere and great place for a dinner party. Bit loud. Glad we went there for ou First Montreal meal!

Despite advising of a birthday evening and having made a reservation, they had no table set aside and we were crammed into a tiny spot at a wobbly table. The ribs were tasty but somehow the murdered the salad. A loud environment with a definite vibe. Perhaps not a good choice for our occasion. I might go back with a group of friends for drinks but certainly not for a one on one dinner.

Taverne Gaspar came through! It was my husband’s and son’s birthday, so we had travelled to Montréal to make the occasion special. We had made reservations at a couple of fine dining establishments as they are both foodies; only to discover upon arrival, (and despite not mentioning it on the website or at the booking of the reservation), that these places were all 18+. In a last-ditch attempt to salvage the trip, we tried Taverne Gaspar. They were welcoming, lively and service and food were good!

The food was fantastic. We had the onion rings, one beet burger and one filet mignon and maple creme brûlée. It was all fabulous. Great live music as well.

Food was exceptional and service really great and fun as well. Music duo that evening were really good and patient with an otherwise noisy 13 from all over USA & Canada in a reunion that was lively!! will go back any time!!

Great place, good food and perfect ambiance for a tête à tête.

Fun and casual dining. More rustic and romantic at the front of the restaurant, more sports bar feel at the back. Great service all around.

The food was expensive and of average quality. The service was particularly slow as well. I expected much more from the reviews I saw. There are far better places to eat at in Montreal. I'd recommend Stash Cafe if you're looking for a place to eat in Old Montreal.

Great atmosphere. Can accommodate large parties. Food is great for pub fare with excellent variety. I would definitely go back!

Food was greats s we loved the live music but we were very disappointed with the service. Someone brought our food from the kitchen but the waitress never came once to see if it was ok or to see if we needed anything. My husband had a beer and he never even got an opportunity to order a second beer. It’s a tavern. The waitress should be on top of things trying to sell alcohol.

Slow service, fries over cooked and soggy, food lukewarm and a terrible mimosa!

We invited some business friends from France at the restaurant, everyone had a different meal and was completely satisfied.
The service was friendly and the atmosphere just right for the occasion.

Nous avons eu un excellent service, notre serveuse était aux petits soins pour nous. J'ai beaucoup aimé le décor de la place et l'ambiance. Niveau nourriture c'etait bien mais pas incroyable. J'ai été un peu déçue par les pains dorés, un pain beaucoup trop mince pour que ça soit savoureux... Les pommes de terre aussi un peu décevantes... Le café filtre était bon et j'ai beaucoup aimé les tasses Gaspard !

Serveuses très sympathiques et gérantes aussi. Cependant la nourriture était quelconque ...

Mon amoureux et moi étions un peu déçus.

J'y étais dans le cadre de la semaine #HappeningGourmand. Dommage pour les 2h obligatoires, on a manqué un peu de temps même si nous le savions. 2 h1/2 serait plus juste. On est bien chez Gaspar, on aime y rester.

Amazing ambiance, I just loved it. One of my favorite places in Montreal!

Excellent service and food. Went with a group of colleagues after work for “Happening Gourmand.” The arugula, pear, goat cheese salad with the Honey Jack Daniel’s vinaigrette was so tasty...especially the feied goat cheese balls... melted inypir mouth! The shrimp /asparagus risotto and maple syrup crème brûlee were delisc!!! Flavorful as can be. As a Mtl foodie, I recommended this place, and my choice did not dissapoint, of course. Colleagues were happy and satisfied:)

Belle découverte pour nous. La nourriture était excellente et en portion généreuse à un prix intéressant ce qui en fait un très bon rapport qualité/prix. Nous allons certainement y retourner.

My friends and I went for Happening Gourmand and we all took the chicken dish and left disappointed! The meat was very bland with no taste. The salad entree I had was delicious as well the dessert.

Le service etait excellent, la bouff tres bonne et ambiance décontractée... parfait pour le pré-igloofest.. :)

Le repas était bon. J'aurais aimé une option vegan sur le menu.

The food was very dissapointing I mean steak frites and we got 4 slices of small meat risotto dry and tasteless so dissapoiting !!!

La Taverne Gaspar est un excellent restaurant, très chaleureux dans l'accueil et l'ambiance.
La nourriture est impeccable et le service est excellent. Les serveurs sont tous gentils et très agréables.

Truly enjoyed our evening. Food was delicious, service was attentive without being bothersome, and it was a great atmosphere where you can talk without straining to hear your table mate.

Very comfortable place, although I’ve gotten the tiny table by the stairs twice now, and it’s probably the worst table in the house. Very good steak, awesome service - very friendly staff.

La soirée avait bien commencé.

On a pris notre commande et servi nos drinks.
Je voyais que notre plat principal prenais du temps à arriver. il y a une même une table qui est arrivé après nous et à reçu leur plat. La serveuse n'est pas venu nous voir.
J'ai interpellé un autre serveur pour lui dire que ça faisait plus de 1 heure que nous attendons notre repas.

Il est venu nous dire que la cuisine avait perdu notre commande.
Quand notre commande est arrivé j'ai dû retourner mon steak car je n'aimais pas la cuisson de la viande.La serveuse ne nous a pas demandé comment nous aimerions notre cuisson. Rare ont été les fois où notre verre d'eau ont été rempli.

Elle nous a donner un shooter gratuit pour comme dédommagement .

le désert était bon.

Le Mac & Cheese est delicieux. J’aime bien l’ambiance et l’endroit. Le prix est raisonable et le service est impeccable.

Saw this Gastropub on Open Table. Recommendations an photographs made it look very appealing. My wife and I each had a cocktail: the sidecar was refreshing and a great size, the Saint Jermaine was fantastic according to my wife. We then had dinner: I wife had the salad for Micelli which was perfectly plated, while I had the duck confit and apple grilled cheese which was out of this world. A good wine and beer list as well!

J'ai beaucoup aimé le service, votre flexibilité et la nourriture. J'apprécie que l'on est ajouté une table, alors que j'avais téléphoné le 30 décembre pour ma réservation du 31. Super service !! :-) Merci à Julie qui m'avait téléphoné pour m'offrir le menu des fêtes avec les options, très gentille et flexible. Nous allons nous revoir.
P.S mon groupe d'amis n'est pas toujours facile à plaire et ils ont été ravis de manger chez vous. Nous considérons l'option de fêter avec vous pour toute la soirée l'année prochaine.

We ate here twice during our stay at the hotel. Dinner wasn’t great and breakfast was downright bad.

Soirée très désagréable, la bouffe était très moyenne voire poche, la serveuse était inexpérimentée et peu présente, et on s'est fait mettre dehors après 2 heures même si nous n'avions pas fini notre café après avoir dépensé 200$ parce que les réservations sont limitées...ce qu'on ne nous avait pas dit avant. J'ai été vraiment décue.

Excellent evening, good food, good service, excellent easy listening band and great company.
