   My two friends and I enjoyed lunch at Taverna in Ladera yesterday. We ate at a table outdoors on a pleasant day. We shared plates. We highly recommend the tzatziki and the gigante bean stew! In addition, those zucchini fritters were as crispy as promised and full of flavor. Service was efficient and friendly. Our meal was not inexpensive but very satisfying and tasty. The only item on the menu we definitely would not recommend is the one that is described as “flaming”. WOW! Not only was it flamin’, it was lit up by the server just a few inches from the head of one of my friends and almost set her hair on fire! I honestly believe that “flaming” entrees and desserts should not be on the menus of small restaurants due to fire risk!

   We enjoyed a wonderful meal with a group of 8. Food was delicious, service was great, and the ambiance was perfect. Will certainly be coming back soon.

   Wonderful Mother’s day prix fixe menu, a chance to taste a wide variety of their high quality food, the appetizers were home made, best dolmas around. Zucchini cakes were delicious. Chicken souvlaki was perfectly cooked and juicy, lamb chops delicious and the omeleta was very tasty. The service was excellent on a super busy day. Nice celebration for Mom.

   Poor service. The waiter took the order and brought the check at end end. Food presentation was good. But it lacked full flavor. The outdoor atmosphere was great. I would give them another try. Maybe out experience was one off

   I know they re still working on getting the opening kinks out of the way. Service people are very very nice and friendly, but don't pay attention and kitchen too slow, even not full. I had to ask for wine twice and same with bread. These are the basics. Happy to have you in the neighborhood, so I hope you get it figured out. I am hearing same in the community about kitchen being slow and staffing not attentive enough.

    Great experience start to finish. We were a table of three. Our third was delayed and the restaurant was so generous in letting us sit over minimal appetizers-delicious kolokithokeftethes and kasseri cheese and a couple of drinks. The Kasseri was a true delight as it is tough to find good kasseri locallly! My Xeni husband loved the kolokithokeftethes (zucchini patties). Once our third came, we ordered and our food came out quickly and was really fantastic. Everyone loved their souvlaki, paidakia and moussaka! Μβραβο! So happy to have them in Portola Valley.
