I absolutely loved my time at Taverna Opa. It was my 25th Birthday celebration and the staff made sure I had an awesome dinner/party. The food was delicious and the entertainment was amazing and on point. It was like a mini dance club inside the restaurant because of the awesome music they were playing too. Everyone was dancing left to right and so was I (on the table!), but it also maintained a great place to eat with my group of friends. I would definitely come back again it was a great experience. Final note..Napkins everywhere! it was lit.
Not too friendly restaurant, we arrive and had to wait for 10 mins before we can be seated even though I had a reservation. Was not greeted well. When seated we were given pita bread with chick peas not even enough for 7 of us , I order a second one and told I have to pay which I ended up pay for. The sangria was awesome, some of the meals were good but the slow cook lamb was wayyyyy too fatty. The lamb had more fat than meat, the meal was over priced. Lamb chops was great, the lamb burger was alright the roll was hard the meat was dry doesn't even taste like lamb. Over all I give you a 2 star. Thanks
My Wife and I enjoyed the authentic menu choices, including appetizers, main entrees and desserts. The atmosphere was lively, energetic and fun. We'll definitely go back with friends.
Food was really good. They really pack patrons in there . Only downfall was the music.. way too loud.. like it was had to hear the person sitting across from you.
This place is authentic and amazing. From the belly dancing to staff encouraging traditional table dancing to incredible food.
It got loud and crazy and so much fun.
Great ambience to be with family and friends. The music was a little too load for conversations. Food was great. $ but is still worth the price. We had a blast and lots of fun.
Lots of fun, but we had a reservation and still had to wait 30 minutes to be seated. Food was good and atmosphere was very fun.
Great atmosphere, lively, great food/service. Great place for celebrations!
Cold Mezze plate was great. Hummus was solid. People dancing on tables was fun. REALLY loud inside...REALLY loud.
Fun but very very loud. More expensive than I would have expected.
Loud and fun! Great place for friends or groups. Food was plenty and delicious. Really loved the family dining choices - it made ordering so much easier and had such a great variety. Everyone in our group was impressed. Definetly will go back.
Great time , great food and rear service
Go there every time we are in town
Definitely not what we were expecting. The way the menu is made and what others have said we were expecting a nice "authentic" Greek restaurant. When we got there they didn't have a table for us. They should have been able to hold a 2 top for the reservation they had. The hostess was also a bit sassy about it telling us to "just go wait by the bar until I come find you." Okay. So we go to the bar. It's loud, college students everywhere drinking. Older people meeting up with first time dates. We started thinking this felt more like a club scene than a restaurant. Then out of no where a server light a flare on fire and sticks it in a bottle of vodka for a bottle service. WHAT RESTAURANT DOES BOTTLE SERVICE?! She and a "belly dancer" (which was really just a girl who had no idea how to dance in a skimpy outfit) got up on top of a table and started dancing to "Shots" by LMFAO. We left. This was not a restaurant. It was a club. We were able to go to another restaurant and get a table I'm the area. 45 minutes after out original reservation time I got a text from Opa telling me my table was ready. No thanks. I'll pass.
Went there for dinner... dozens of tables open. Literally say us next to a full table that butted up against ours. I asked to be moved somewhere else not near the front door(it was cold). Day us 15 feet from front door. Asked to be moved again. Sat is in a room 20 feet away. We were fine with that. Arrogant waitress kept on questioning us why we were sitting in that room. We told her we were say there. Twice asked us if wet wanted to go somewhere else. We said no m she left in a huff. We got up and just walked out. Will never go back there again.
I was recommended Opa taverna by a friend who occasionally visits Orlando like I do. Unfortunately I did not have as good an experience as she did. I question why they bother to take reservations for dinner when they are unable to accommodate said reservations. I booked a table for 2 people for 8:30pm and we were not sat until 10pm. I checked on our table twice and was told "I couldn't be guaranteed a time but it would be soon". Turns out my idea of soon is not their's. I think it would be wise to not have a booking system on a weekend if it is always busy as then you would not have the disappointment or the hour and a half wait at the bar, made worse by only one barman serving the large bar crowd (the other bar person was fulfilling the table orders). We were not offered any compensation for being seated so late (what's a free drink)! The wait staff were nice, the food was good. We didn't see any belly dancers doing dancing (except near the birthday cake for the birthday people). People were dancing on the tables and it is certainly a fun atmosphere. I'm just not sure it's worth the wait and lack of communication. I'd have to be dragged back.
Fun atmosphere, and the food is exceptional. Staff is supper friendly, get your dancing feet ready.
We went to Taverna Opa as a recommendation from a friend & I’m so glad we did! It was a great time!
Taverna Opa was a lot of fun. Food ranged from average to excellent. Decor was pleasant Greek motif. Waiter was excellent. Overall, made for a very enjoyable evening.
Disappointed and dissatisfied. Chicken was dry and lamb served for $26 had little meat in the bone.
I was so excited for Greek food and left feeling sad and gross. The food is really bad (we had many different plates and items that were all bad). Super loud and rough crowd. Skip it!
Since we love ethnic foods, decided to give Taverna Opa a try. The restaurant advertises belly dancing in the evenings. When we arrived we had the option of sitting outside where it was a bit quiet, or inside where it was more lively. Food was great and tasty and staff was friendly and knowledgeable. In addition to the belly dancing and music, people also formed a conga line and were dancing and having a great time.
It's a show place, not a restaurant. The "greek" dancer (a Hispanic lady) danced and invited patrons to dance ON the table, where people will eat. Feta cheese was great (at least), octopus with too much lemon and the lamb shank was cold inside. Extremelly noisy! Bad experience.
It was very good except the beer menu was terrible! Can u please get more ipa’s and other good beers! Selection was 3rd rate... we had many men at the meal and all of us thought the same
My family and I went there for lunch on a Sunday afternoon, for the first time, and had a great experience. The food was great! We ordered the Chicken kabob, the lamb chops, the Chilean Sea Bass and one more pasta dish. They were all delicious! As an appetizer, we ordered the hummus (came in a wooden mortar for us to finish mashing together. I wasn't too crazy about how much garlic and olive oil it has, but my husband loved it because he's a fan of the extra stuff) and octopus (which we all loved).
Overall it was a great experience, we appreciated our servers, the location, & prices. We hope to return soon to taste other items on their menu. :-)
Celebrated my birthday on 2/24/18. This is my 3rd time here always enjoyed the ambiance. My only disappointment was that I only saw 3 belly dancers and most of the time they seem to just be standing around. It took a while for the dancing to get started and I was there at 9:00 pm. I also found that they were very cheap on the napkin tossing. I asked for some napkins for our table to join the party and scream OPA which is one of the things I enjoy the most and hardly got any for our table to enjoy. I did have a great time but its the little things that count. I could go anywhere else and listen to music and dine. I enjoy the Greek culture and thats what I want when I go to OPA
Food was ok. Lively and entertaining. Made reservations on line and confirmed by phone. Are party arrived early and had to wait an additional 45 minutes past our reservation time.
Fun place but very loud. Not suited for romance
It was my mom's birthday
Twelve of us went there for a going away dinner and started outside at the bar until "half of our party" arrived and we could be seated. We were in the process of closing our bar tabs and getting our last call for happy hour when we were told we could now longer be out there as a large group had just arrived. WHAT?? Finally got our last call beverages. Our server was awesome!!! Food was good but the management staff was rude!! Then the much anticipated dancer came out and looked like someone kicked her dog. She finally started dancing at 20-25 minutes late and danced for about 10 minutes and took a break. Two of us were shocked as we had been there before and the dancer that night was beautiful and had the most charming personality and she danced for over an hour before stopping for a very short break. Will definitely go back but will be very picky about the staffing!!!
First time @ restaurant. Liked eating outside, food I got was great. Waiter (Kontas) (msp)
was wonderful & his assistant was great. The fish was very good & waiter de-boned it very nicely. Will visit when in area again.
No waiting with reservation, hummas was great chicken soup was great Greek salad was great, meat was salty. Very noisy music, belly dancer was fun. Service was good. Just to salty meat and to noisy continuously. No break from the noise
Great experience, but hard to hold a conversation with the level of the music. But, it was fun music.
The food was excellent. We had a very good experience with this restaurant.
Service was slow and the place wasn’t full. The music is too loud so most of the time you will be screaming to talk. Drinks are disappointing. Food is ok. And it’s pricey.
Food was really disappointing for money I pay I was expecting quality but no
Taverna Opa was excellent! The pita and hummus was to die for; I expected a bit more on the tzatziki I am ok letting that slide because the hummus was so amazing! The greek salad was fabulous and of course was tip w/authentic greek feta! Again...amazing!!! The lamb chops were out of this world as was the lobster tail with filet! We ate on the patio at 530p but did stick around for the belly dancer. She did danced around the inside dining area, which was a great way to send the night. We will definitely be back!!
Having received many good reviews from family and friends, we decided to give TO a try. I must say, the environment wasn't as exciting as people had told us but it was good and we enjoyed it. We had originally booked thinking of the Valentine's Day Special but changed it up when we arrived. Not all in our group are too open for changes so we did have to adjust the meals and go back to the Valentine's Day special. Our server was AMAZING! Even after we made a bit of a fuss about the previous plates, which was completely on our end (not the restaurant or server's fault!) he was very pleasant and always made sure whatever we ordered was up to our likes. The manager was very nice as well. I personally do consider it a family friendly restaurant as I had my baby and my 3 yr old nephew and they both enjoyed the dancing and music (especially the napkins!). I'd give it another try during the weekend (on a special occasion) to test the environment once again.
Overall food was good and came out on time given the holiday. However at the very end the server came out and confronted my friend about the tip she left saying everyone else at the table tipped more so he wanted to know why she tipped him that amount. We were stunned and for that reason will not be returning.
Consistent quality food. Not many customers....price was reasonable too.
