Great service, good food and wonderful location for us to meet, - from north side, 1 from south side and 1 family from greenfield!
Overall experience was good. Food was great and service was excellent. I definitely will be back.
Quick pre Indians game meal. Great service . Drinks and food top shelf as always!
Went for our anniversary dinner, and wasn’t looking for anything fancy just good environment and good food.
Should’ve relied on our initial instinct when place was empty at 6:30 on a Saturday evening.
The only highlight was the Brussel sprouts… the drinks were way overpriced and not good, and entrees(NY Strip and meatloaf) were not hardly edible.
It’s cool building and has great potential but food and drinks are just not good.
If you like Applebee’s, you love this. But I don’t like Applebee’s :(
It’s just…. mediocre basically. Not horrible, but not something I’d try again. And the ambiance is bleh… kind of felt like I stepped back into the 80’s, but the worst part of the 80’s. Meh.
Great place to meet friends before the game. Great location.
Relaxed and very enjoyable dinner. Server was there when we needed her but yet was not pain constantly bothering us. Outdoor seating was very pleasant with nice view of Indy. Food was good, hot, tasty and well prepared. We will be back.
It's been way too long since I was here for lunch of dinner! I made reservations as I was concerned it might be overly busy with Gen Con in town, but it was quiet even in the bar area and my guest and I were able to have plenty of good conversation before and during our meal. This has been our standing place to have lunch when he's here for Gen Con, and he has often brought over his gaming buddies for another meal there as well. the pork tenderloin sandwich and the portobello soup were both just amazing. In the words of Arnold Schwarzennager, I'll be back.
No one to our table for a few minutes. It was game day, so they were busy and that could have been part of it.
Crab dip was great.
Fish and chips, less than stellar.
Bison burger was good.
First trip there before a Colt game. We had a reservation and were seated promptly and in front of those who did not- as should be. Great server with excellent attitude, even tho' she was clearly swamped. Other staff were attentive and helped cover for her. Good food and decent draft beer list. We'll be back.
Restaurant was understaffed, they ran out of loaded mashed potatoes which comes with over half of their entrees. It was a busy weekend but it was pretty empty when we left at 8:30. Felt bad for the wait staff. Food was bland and not very good.
Parking and ability to dine on patio. Positives. We were seated quickly and drink orders taken. My White Russian was a little heavy on the cream, but nice. We then ordered a bottle of wine. For $46, it was a relatively benign, sweet sauvignon blanc, with a screw off lid rather than cork. Appetizer crab dip was good, again heavy on the cream cheese, but beautifully broiled with nice bread and chips. I ordered the salmon, a large portion came and was nicely prepared. I thought it a little salty but definitely tasty. I would order it again. Overall, it was a good experience.
Brittany was one of the most respectful servers I have ever had. The food was very good. Pork tenderloin sandwich was breaded and very tasty.
Great environment. Went during a slow time. My food was great. Wife said the steak was not the best quality due to excessive grissle in it. However, the waiter was superb. We will visit again in future. Meat loaf was superb. Thank you guys!!! Prices a little higher than desired though.
Meatloaf was very tasty and hot. Mashed potatoes would have been much better if hot. Lukewarm. Green beans had no seasoning. Everything was "fine" so we didn't say anything to anyone. We were having a good time. The mushroom soup is odd but it says right on the menu that it has whipping cream. It was sweet and therefore, strange. Only took a few bites. Have had better experiences here. Sitting outside was lovely. Service was "fine".
We were going to a concert at White River and wanted a place to eat that was close and without really getting into downtown and traffic. The food and the service were both great. It's less than five minutes from White River ampitheatre or Victory Field and it's right next door to Lucas Oil stadium.
The appetizer was delicious (crab dip), entrees (filet and pork tenderloin) were just meh. The service was good, very attentive.
Server was great!! Awesome location next to Lucas oil.
Brittany was our waitress and she was Great! She made our evening perfect. Food was amazing we all loved our dishes.
I went to this restaurant prior to a Sunday afternoon Colts game. I had a reservation, so we got seated immediately. However, we did have to wait ~30 minutes after ordering for our 2 burgers, which was kind of annoying. Our server also disappeared for awhile during that time, so we could not ask her for an update or anything like that.
Great food, great service, with a nice view of the Indianapolis skyline!
Everything was great! Will use Open Table again & come to Tavern on South again.
Excellent lunch. Wish we could have fit a dinner in at some point, for sure next trip. Location is perfect, less than a block to Lucas Oil. Food and drink were excellent! Service was very good and attentive.
If you are looking for a convenient place near sports venues in downtown this place will work. If you want a good dining experience then I would look elsewhere.
We were seated in the bar even though the restaurant was pretty empty.
The food was fair. Bison burger was well done even though I asked for medium and my wife’s steak was very rare even though she asked for medium. The server took plate back to kitchen but never apologized or offered to make amends for the mistake. Not good customer service.
We had a large group and still had very good service. Our server took the time to give us recommendations which we all enjoyed.
The only thing that would have made our evening better is if we had been seated on the upper level deck.
Waitress was friendly but service extremely slow.
Appetizers were great. I ordered Tuscan chicken which was good but sides of asparagus and mashed potatoes were cold
Good food but couldn’t keep up with orders . Our waiter was great!
I was skeptical b/c of the rating, but was pleasantly surprised. Staff was competent, friendly & efficient. They even quickly accommodated a extra person on our reservation. Our entire party had great food. Location was really convenient & space was nice / inviting space. We will definitely go back.
Great ambiance. The pretzel is outstanding. The bison burger was also good. Our server was a delight.
We loved everything about our visit Tavern on South! Especially the duck wings!
Really enjoyed the patio! Nice breeze and view of the city. I thought good was good but my husband said chicken was tough. Server was great and hostess was helpful with our stroller.
Perfect place downtown to be able to relax on the upstairs balcony and have great food and service.
The items on the menu all sounded great but there weren’t a lot of choices. What we ordered was good and the service from our waiter was fantastic. We will return and hopefully get the same waitress. So sorry I didn’t get her name but her full time job was a school teacher in the Decatur Township elementary system. Try to keep her.
Service was great. Our server was so busy with so many tables but she was always available for us. We didn’t love the food but didn’t hate it either. It was good value for your money
Colleagues in town for business. Had a great meal with awesome service and everyone enjoyed it. THANK YOU for making me look good (I'm local :))
A few of us had the meatloaf, one had the white fish, and one had salmon. All very tasty.
We went here after a trade show and the waitress was very good and funny and accommodating (we actually had booked 2 parties and they were able to put us together.) Close to all the hotels and convention center
Appitzers were good!
We went here twice during our stay in Indy. Very good restaurant & service was great!! Would definitely recommend.
