Just really great service here...I was in town for business and went here twice for lunch. Blackened fish tacos were amazing...highly recommend for the business traveller.
The food was great and our server was fantastic. My daughter got the Quina Bowl and kept saying it was amazing. I feel awful I do not even remember the server's name, but he was great. We had a table right by the window. It was a good choice to go right before going to a TD Garden event. and I would definitely go back. My one single negative was that the drinks were a little pricey, but given the area, I guess they were in line.
Nice place. Lots of choices in local and craft brews. Menu selections will please all tastes. Food was very good. Service started out great bu then got very slow. Make sure you get your points because after we arrived they cancelled my reservation and when I confronted the hostess she quickly fixed it but from her explanation this seems to be what they do to avoid open table fees.
We had a lunch reservation for 8 people, after we placed our order (after waiting almost 10 min) it took an additional 15 min to receive our drinks? When the drinks did arrive, anything that was ordered with carbonation was flat. We didn't see our server again until the food arrived, never asked anyone for a refill and she auctioned off the food- Example: The server takes your order, writes it down and then when it arrives she has no idea who ordered WHAT so she has to auction off the food "I have a chicken sandwich... Who ordered the chicken sandwich" - The food was ok, nothing special, everything was kind of cold. Two of the two chicken sandwiches were partially burned, and very dry - Since the server never asked us how it was we had no opportunity to ask anything, have it improved, nope, nothing. I work at large sneaker company located in the North end and we have taken this restaurant off of our lunch/catering/takeout/everything list. Partially due to all the examples you see listed above... DO better... Be BETTER!
The food and service was very good, but they set up our table so that our company President was sitting in the restaurant aisle. Customers and staff were forced to squeeze around him to access the other tables. Maybe they should have set up this special seating arrangement for 6 people prior to our arrival?
A group of coworkers decided to celebrate a 35th working anniversary for one of us, and try somewhere new in our neighborhood. We are so happy we chose Tavern In the Square. The service was fantastic, including a new trainee who did a wonderful job. The food was varied and delicious - and all priced reasonably. We will definitely return!!
The young lady at the desk welcomed us with a smile which was our first impression-She deserves an A+ as a hostess
the wait staff seem dedicated but a few seemed lost
We all enjoyed our meal felt it was a few dollars too expensive for the contents and amount
We made reservations for Sunday Brunch. We were asked for a drink order and we requested coffee. The Tavern on the Square did not have coffee--for a Sunday Brunch. We ordered waters instead and one $4.50 cup of orange juice. Twenty five minutes later the server came by and asked how everything was---our waters were just great....she said the food would be right out. Forty minutes from ordering our food arrived (there was one other party in the entire restaurant which should have been a red flag) and the omelets were greasier than a diner. We were pretty disgusted as we are frequent customers of Tavern in the Square in Lowell. That location serves an incredible brunch which is also done buffet style. The Lowell branch also manages to have coffee available at breakfast.
We went to this restaurant to try chicken & waffles and mac & cheese and it was worth it. The service was really friendly. The noise level at lunch time is not bad but during dinner it is hard to talk during the meal.
After the first round of drinks and as they got busy. Drinks were super slow to make their way to our table. Last round took 15min. My friend had to pound a Guinness because we were then going to be late for the game. No one should have to pound a Guinness. Food was on point and everything else was solid though. I’d come back
Just wouldn’t order a final round.
Tavern In The Square was recommended by a friend as a good place to try Chicken and Waffles. The food is really good and the restaurant is near North Station so it is easy to get there using public transportation. The only thing that I did not enjoy was the fact that it is a noisy place so it is hard to talk with the people around you. Furthermore, we were told by the waitress that the Chicken and Waffles was not spicy which is not true because the honey has Tabasco in it.
Quick bite to eat before a show- drinks and apps. Food arrived quickly!
Truly authentic, freshly made Italian dishes located among the Italian district in the NE downtown area in Boston. Many great choices in the menu. Quick service. They don't want to seat you until your entire party is there as there is limited number of tables and they are kept full throughout the evening. Excellent food, moderate prices. Plus only a block away from a famous cannoli shop for afterwards desert. Will definitely eat here again next time I'm in Boston.
Awesome as always! Perfect dinner with friends and place to watch March Madness and the Red Sox!
Dinner was delicious, and kudos to my server Rafael. He made my experience so wonderful, and his timing was perfect.
Glutenfree heaven! Our waiter was outstanding! Alex😁
Service was great food was good
This was my first visit to Tavern In The Square. Our lunches - a Chicken Caesar Salad and a Cheeseburger - were very good and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and solicitous, and our waitress (Wezi-Anne) was simply awesome. The large, open space is a bit noisy, but that's to be expected if you sit at a hi-top in the bar area. I suspect the booths would be much quieter. Overall, a great experience. I'd definitely go back.
Pre Celtics game. Good venue to enjoy a meal and walk to the game
We had a 3:45 reservation, arrived early & were sat right away. Food was great & came out in a timely fashion. However it was our server that was the high point! Jessica was AWESOME, funny, helpful & took great care of us. As a restaurant employee myself, good service is key & she nailed it.
Our family enjoyed a late lunch after seeing the Globetrotters. Our server was friendly, efficient, and upbeat. We all enjoyed our meals.
Excellent breakfast! We had the Breakfast Pizza and the Eggs Benedict...everything delicious! 😋
I met a friend I haven’t seen for while for lunch. There wasn’t anyone at the hostess/host station when I arrived and I waited there for several minutes to check in. It was 11:55 am and not too busy yet. I then noticed my friend was seated and had already checked in so I proceeded to the table on my own. This apparently caused a confusion with our reservation.
We both really enjoyed our meals - he had the Greek salad with chicken and I had the quinoa salad which was delicious. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. A third friend joined us late into lunch and our waitress quickly accommodated her.
Overall, our experience was very good. We will return and recommend the restaurant to others.
Service today was outstanding the severer was terrific
Met a colleague after work. Love the menu and all the healthy options. Highly recommend!
okay basic restaurant food was okay not great, needs more upgraded food prep
When a key part of the sandwich is missing, such as the guacamole, the wait staff should informed the customers before they order.
The server was friendly and very helpful. We had a good pre concert experience.
Very good experience, would definitely go back. Good value, friendly staff and great drinks!
First time at the North Station Tavern and although the waiter knew we were heading to the Bruins game across the street, he managed to forget to put our order in and remembered after a good 30 minutes. He also forgot our drink order for at least 25 minutes. We eventually scarfed down our "late" food in time to rush over and get to the game just on time. We had hoped to have a more leisurely experience.
I made a reservation for a friends birthday. When we arrived to the restaurant they said they weren’t honoring the reservation that day. We did not get any notification that they were not taking reservations (even if they were already made). Unfortunately the wait was too long and they could not accommodate 5 people. I am disappointed in the service here because the food and atmosphere is great.
When I got there they didn’t have my reservation. Said the online system should not have been available for Sunday but never called to tell me. I had to wait 1 hour to be seated.
Manager is not the greatest and hostess is rude but the wait staff were great. However the waitress was training new hires and disappeared which is not her fault, but after a while we had to go with another waiter to place our orders. This place has a great atmosphere but requires better management overall. The manager should have helped the staff instead of hang out at the hostess station. The food is alright but loads of garlic on the tots. Beer is cold so that is a plus
Aircon was pretty cool. Food and beer good. Bring a sweater.
My husband and I try to have "date night" once a week. We had tickets for a concert but my husband liked your menu better than the one at the concert venue. The entire staff was very pleasant. Our waitress was training a new waitress and they were both very friendly and helpful. We both liked the menu because it had some traditional "comfort" food items that were prepared a little differently and also had some "healthier" options. My husband had the BBQ turkey tips and I had the Mediterranean grilled chicken sandwich which was served on Naan served with the crispy chips. Both dishes were excellent. My husband enjoyed his favorite beer, Leminkugel(??spelling???) summer shandy and I had the sangria. Everything was well prepared. We will definitely be back. May try one or more of your other locations in the Boston area as well.
I have previously only had brunch at one of the suburban locations. This time we went for dinner. The food and service were excellent. I loved the Mediterranean grilled chicken sandwich.
We had a large group of 12 people and our server was very attentive. She made sure we all were happy throughout the entire meal. Also, she easily split checks that allowed us to not stress about paying the bill. Amazing food and service, as always!
We had a great night. Food and drinks were delicious!
My brother, sister-in-law, and I went to Tavern in the Square because we wanted a restaurant near TD Garden. I find that there are very few restaurants in that area worth going to (I hate the overpriced, touristy North End), so I was pleasantly surprised by Tavern. Certainly not the most upscale or inventive place I've ever been, but the food was really good (I got the blackened chicken pasta), the portions were large, the prices were good, and the beer selection was perfect.
My one "complaint" is just that it was a bit loud and rowdy (during a World Cup match). Given its location near the Garden, I am sure this is a pretty common occurrence, so I am not sure how often I would dine here, but that's personal preference. Otherwise, it's a fine place.
