The food was pretty good overall The fried pickles were outstanding. I had the Genreal Tso's chicken It was good. The rice was a little dry but was still good. Service was excellent. Will definitely be back.

The food and service were good but prices outrageous. I ordered an espresso martini that came in a tiny glass, not full for $18. And it wasn't even good! On a positive note, the broccoli, cauli, pickle and corn flake chicken tenders were all really good and the mac and cheese with bacon was amazing. Prices just too high for the value.

We went to the Tavern Allston on a Sunday evening during the first week of the NFL season. Great place to see a variety of games on many televisions. The food was very good with a great selection of pub/tavern food. The service was good despite the larger crowd. My only complaint was the volume of the speakers which were deafening. You had to yell to speak to the person sitting across from you in the same booth! I gently complained to no avail. I would definitely go back as the overall experience was very good.

Was thoroughly disappointed in our experience at Tavern in the Square. We had a reservation for a party of 6 and we immediately noticed the lack of service when we had to wait at least 10 minutes after being seated to have a server come over with water and ask for drink orders. The lack of attention the staff paid to their customers was the worst I’ve seen, and they did not come back to ask how the food was or if we needed refills (we did on everything). The restaurant was also not very busy so there was no reason to have the delayed service. Almost all the food orders were incorrect in some way and arrived cold. This is also the first time in my life I’ve sent anything back and it was a diet coke that was ENTIRELY flat and tasted mostly like water. The replacement beverage was no better and it’s safe to say we won’t be going back.

Great time watching the Celtics before heading into the Brighton Music Hall. The atmosphere was energetic, rightfully so. The food was good as expected. Our waiter was great to start but we had to call him over twice to get the bill. Overall, good experience.

Server was trash, did not come to check on us once. Didn’t bring us utensils to eat our Mac and cheese nor bring any plates. Didn’t bring straws for our mixed drinks had to go grab stuff from bar. Server was also rude.

Service was awful. The drinks took 45 mins to get to the table. No even joking. 3-4 bartenders behind that bar and a 45 minute wait for drinks? The server barely came by to check in. Seriously wished we just left.

Second time dining here; chose it this time based on semi-convenience to Agganis Arena/BU hockey game. Food was good…they have some interesting choices. Ambiance is decent—huge bar; guessing it gets quite busy later at night. Server (female) was friendly but that’s about it…not very attentive or efficient; was hanging out chatting at bar while we waited for extra chips (that they charge for—and never received), and then at hostess stand when we wanted to pay. Not trying to get her in trouble…just be better—and less chatty w/ coworkers in plain sight while your table waits for stuff.

Ordered the Asian Ribs app and the description didn't match what we got. No pineapple or fortune cookie, three ribs. Dinner (Steak Tips) came with lukewarm sides (mashed) and broccoli that was supposed to be oven roasted green beans. Kitchen should attempt to have food match menu description. Was not impressed. Steak tips were cooked correctly and tasted good, but again, menu described a marinade and you could not taste it.

arrived and waited five minutes to get seated. no one was around so we sat at the bar which took another five minutes to get attention. we ordered a strawberry fishbowl that tasted disgusting. we’ve been to tavern in the square in lowell and burlington and their drinks are always amazing even if late. this tasted so gross. we ended up returning it and going to lone star because we were so turned off for our valentine date. won’t come back to this location again.

When I arrived with my party, we were met at the door and the woman told us, walk ins were no longer allowed, they were only accepting reservations. When we asked if there were reservations available, her response was we needed to go through OpenTable. I asked again, if there were reservations available, she stated they do not make them at the door, we need to go through OpenTable. The restaurant was pretty empty, so I assumed there was space available. Rather than informing us if it was worth looking or booking, she just reiterated to go through OpenTable. When I looked, there were reservations available, I booked it. Then she replied, Ok I can seat you now. If it wasn't for the fact that we were hungry and secured parking after a couple loops around, we would not have stayed because this woman did not seem like they wanted customers. Luckily, our server was nice.

Phoned in to ask if I could have 7 reserved seats instead of 6. Was rudely told that was against Pandemic laws. After we got to the place, our waitress took our first round of orders then didn’t come back for an entire hour. Bad service. We were seated in the area on the left where it smelled like old paint/construction. Neon blue light made it hard to scan the QR code for the menu. Would have preferred to be seated in the main bar/restaurant area.

Made a reservation a week in advanced for my birthday just to be told that my party can’t sit together when we arrived. We were told when making the reservation we could be seated together, and if we knew we wouldn’t be in the end, I would have definitely chosen somewhere else. The manager was extremely rude, and the hosts kept saying they would see if they would seat us together just to never come back and avoid us. It was a terrible experience and I wish I went somewhere else. However, our waitress was very nice and apologetic and the food was good.

Called ahead to check if under 21s could go, we were told yes, then we were seated by the manager after our IDs were checked and a few minutes later he said our under 21 friend couldn’t be there even though he wasn’t drinking. Very uncalled for and ruined the night.

Such a fun Friday night happy hour! Four of us had 2-3 drinks and split appetizers and the bill was only $50 each with full tip. Recommend the broccoli and chicken tenders! The outside area was lovely and our server Shannon was great.

Food is overpriced. environment is great. service poor, as I accidentally spilled my soda and cleaned it up, but we still got charged for an extra soda to replace it and also the soda was super diluted and tasted bad.

The restaurant was empty when my dining partner were there between normal meal service times, service was very attentive and we were just "snacking" on basic bar food...which was way above normal pub quality in my opinion. I'd definitely go there again.
