Tavern 62 by David Burke Ratings and Reviews
Quaint bar with drop-in eating downstairs combined with a warm and intimate restaurant upstairs. Food was excellent and proportioned for those who want a meal and not a light dinner. Candied bacon and the steak tartare tacos were excellent appetizer choices. Price was on par for the area as well. Definitely would refer to friends and would not hesitate to return for future dinners/gatherings.
Found Tavern 62 on Open Table. Had heard of David Burke, may have had lunch at his Chicago restaurant but not sure. OMG! What an amazing meal. Top 5 all time, although can’t say I be had a better meal anywhere! Celebrating with our two adult kids and their significant others. The Candied Bacon app is so good, but I’m frustrated that I may not find anything that can approximate it elsewhere. Thick slabs of delicious bacon cooked perfectly. Cocktails amazing. Entrees, including salmon, chicken (best chicken dish ever), bison short rib, and pork shank (the best)were spectacular. I’m never this effusive. Tavern 62 was awesome.
Great food, we had the chicken and branzino fish. Both excellent. I would say it's extremely loud, the tables are so close you are touching almost with the people next to you. There is no quiet conversation at all. However, if you're looking for loud with good food, you'll want to go here!
The staff here rocks!!! I called 15 minutes before our reservation and asked to increase our party from 4 to 9 people. They were able to accommodate and as always the food was incredible. If you like bacon (which ironically I don’t eat) then you may just find a new favorite restaurant - our guests flipped over the bacon appetizer. You won’t be disappointed - choose this restaurant.
Our server, Nikola G, was very attentive and made sure we were having a wonderful dining experience.
My appetizer dish, Octopus & Chorizo kebabs, was quite a let down. For $18 we only received 2 skewers with barely any octopus and chorizo. For the price, I expected much more of both main ingredients. I was almost embarrassed for the restaurant to serve that item.
Although I truly enjoyed the Peking Pork Shank accompanied by a side of the Sausage Fried Rice. The pork shank meat was tender and the skin was crispy, perfectly prepared. My friend enjoyed her Black Spaghetti dish very much.
We had the Baked Alaska for dessert and it was such a wonderful choice, it was really good and the presentation was just excellent.
Basically, the food in general was very good except for the very disappointing appetizer dish.
Most of what we ordered was good, but the salmon was so over cooked, we had to send it back. Then it came out so rare, we couldn’t eat it! They did remove it from our bill with no issue. Burke visited a few tables but skipped ours - not a great way to turn us into regulars.
Was mentioned with raving reviews on a Food Network show so my girlfriend and I went here and we were overwhelmed at how awesome the food is. Was seated upstairs and scored a great corner table with a view of the entire room. I had the clothes line bacon and the black spaghetti with seafood. She had the angry lobster dumplings and the Peking pork shank. We ended the night with the cheese cake lollipops. Very nice sized portions and tons of flavor, definitely worth the money. David Burke himself was even there to greet the patrons. We will be back.
We rarely spend this much money on dinner. So glad we did! The crab cake appetizer was delicious. I would not recommend the lobster dumpling. All dumpling and the only lobster I could find was a shell sticking out of the top. The Porterhouse steak for two was divine! As was the polenta. And you really must have the chocolate lava waffle for dessert. All in all Tavern 62 provided a meal we will always remember with great fondness.
Fantastic, unique meal with a superb server. Get Anthony to serve you and follow his recommendations. With a hankering for fish, the smoked king salmon atop celery root , cream fresh with a side domestic caviar started the evening off perfectly. The sea bass with lobster broth, rock shrimp, fennel, and maitake mushrooms was unique, flavorful and memorable. The coup de gras was the fruity creme brule with the perfect minimal amount of firmness.
