   I was glad to find a Middle Eastern/Mediterranean restaurant in the Slope that could accommodate a large group and had a varied menu as we were divided according to tastes in food. We were a table of 10 with a reservation for Saturday night but were late. Thankfully, our reservation was held for us. The table bread was delicious and it was refilled as our hummus and other appetizers encouraged its disappearance. I was especially delighted by the service, stem waterglasses and little niceties that made our evening special. Our order was attractive on the plates, tasty and plentiful. The desserts looked good and those who had them enjoyed every mouthful.

   This is a neighborhood gem. Our meal was delicious—everything tasted perfectly fresh. And portions are shareable! We got the mixed appetizer plate and then couldn't finish our entrees. Loved the pides! The staff is lovely.

   We love Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine and we were very excited by our find with Tava! The décor was very pleasing, the service was attentive and the food was terrific! The appetizer platter we ordered was a good size for four people and the main courses were also decent portions. And a bonus...the noise level was fine for normal conversation. This restaurant is a definite keeper!

   I have already been to it a dozen times in the past year. A secret gem of a place. Spotless, shiny clean. A discrete and pleasantly decorated place that has a calming effect when you walk in. You start hoping the food will be good because you started liking the place. Efficient, polite waiters are surprising, compared to students working for pocket money or people in between jobs. The cuisine is a different type of Turkish, mostly from Southern Turkey, with Arabic influence and layers upon layers of subtle tastes on your palate. This is the closest I got to what I imagine the rich and diverse Ottoman cuisine ever was. Should definitely be tried.
