The meat was delicious and can’t complain about that the only issue we had was it wasn’t they busy but they didn’t bring us our appetizer after we ordered it. The waiter said he forgot even though he totally sold us the appetizer and recommended it. He offered to bring it with out meal but it misses the point of having and appetizer before dinner and taking the time to bring out the meal after you finish it. You want some time to digest and have some wine before your meal.
We went for the outdoor dining experience to celebrate our anniversary. We were very pleased with all the efforts they have made to accommodate social distancing and safety. Had a wonderful meal.
I thought everything was very good. The menu seemed a bit limited but I suspect that is because of pandemic. I would definitely return.
The service was excellent, the food very good, but the prices are bit high for me.
Steak was not cooked properly, had to send back twice. Mashed potatoes were cold.
After Sheltering in Place since March I was excited to bring my husband and two sons to Taurus on Father's Day. My husband loves steak and we were surprised to know that we could dine in. The food was fair but the service was lacking and it was overpriced. It took an hour for any food to come to the table. When it arrived our order of broccolini with ponzu butter was swapped out for broccoli. No one told us that they were out of broccolini and it wasn't until we asked about it that the restaurant comped the dish. The kids' pastas consisted of butter and pasta and were $15 each. It could have at least included a beverage, fruit or veggies, and possibly a dessert. The pasta itself tasted homemade. My salmon was okay, but a little bland. My husband's steak was good, but seemed a little small. Also, from where we were sitting we could see waiters going to the chef to ask about orders that were done wrong and there was one person examining the dishes without a mask. It felt stressful to observe this, but it was nice that the chef apologized and everyone seemed to be polite and professional with each other. I reasoned that this was an off night as the restaurant recently re-opened and was also dealing with preparing Door dash orders. Nevertheless, I spent almost $200 so probably wouldn't risk giving it a second chance.
Still excellent even with the social distancing measures
Awesome steak ....waiters were all very helpful and polite
Amazing to have a steakhouse of this quality mid-peninsula.
This was my second visit to Taurus within a couple of weeks. The food and service was outstanding.
One thing that bothered all of us. We order the 40 oz Porterhouse for $240 and we asked for a sauce. We requested both Bearnaise and Chimichurri sauces. Our server brought out both in small really small containers along with a 3rd sauce made from chilies.
Comes the bill and I see we were charged $6/sauce totaling $18. Come on folks. We just dropped over $350 in your restaurant and you charge us for sauce???
We went for my Fiancé’s birthday dinner as he loves dry aged ribeyes. Unfortunately the restaurant was out of the dry aged ribeye so they took us over the meat case. OMG, the server was knowledgeable and explained all the varying cuts offered that night; where they were located on the cow; and how fatty each cut was. I love all the information we ending up choosing a cut we had never had before called spinalis. It was to die for, will totally be going back to try the dry aged ribeye. Everything else we had was great too from the beef and shisito peppers. Thanks for a great evening!
The new decor really looks good. The service was outstanding. We got the 18 oz Domestic Wagyu ribeye. One of the best I have had.
For the price tag you would be better going elsewhere. First of all we were seated in the path of the door that blew cold air every time someone walked in. We asked to move and were accommodated. After sitting in our new table for 5 mins without being greeted a waiter walking by stopped and asked if we needed anything. The restaurant had only 5 tables with people eating. I asked the waiter if he was the waiter for our table and said he didn’t know but would find out. He then came back as the waiter. We ordered our food which was the domestic wagyu strip loin and the wagyu trio cooked medium rare but more on the rare side with the truffle mash and mushroom medley. The sides came out first and when the meat came out a food runner delivered them and didn’t tell us about the two salts that were given or how to use them to enhance the meat. We cut into our steak and saw that both of our steaks were medium to well. We called over the server and then the chef came out to look and took the meat back and recooked our meal. When the food was brought again the chef came out this time and quickly told me what the meat I had was because I got the trio and ran back. I had wanted to make sure I had tried the a5 but he was gone before I could clarify. The waiter and chef did apologize for the food error. The chef at the end of the meal did spend time and explained the different meat to my husband. If you are paying $400 for dinner for 2 we should have been at least comp’ed a drink or side or dessert at the very least for the issues we had. That is what is expected at this level for this price but it isn’t what happened and due to that I wouldn’t go back. For the money if you want wagyu go to Nobu. For a great steak and a high level of service go to Town across the street.
Delicious steaks and great service
This place is just fabulous! Very tasty food and great atmosphere!
Best piece of meat I've ever had. Must try Taurus!
It is all about the steak. Try the spinalis. Amazing.
A Special Restaurant for Diners who APPRECIATE Food...
The ambiance was great, and the servers were knowledgeable about the menu! We ordered seafood platter and octopus for appetizer, Taurus Wagyu Steak and Sea Bass. My friend has been going on a no meat fast but she made an exception and took a small bite, and she really love how tender the steak was. We had a really great time and would definitely come back! Make sure to check out the wine cellar! :)
Lovely restaurant but expensif. When you order a steak or salmon it doesn't come with mashes potatoes or Brussel sprout :) if you want a side order with your meal you have to order it seperatly.
The service was awesome.
The newly opened restaurant was over their head on Valentines Day. We had 8:30 pm reservations and had to wait a half hour to get seated. The hostesses, bartenders and wait staff were all overwhelmed. When we finally got seated, it took 20 minutes to get waited on and another hour to get our meal. Everything is ala carte and no bread or anything is offered or served while you wait. When we finally got our steak, it was tasty and hot, but we ordered medium done, and it was definitely rare. Everything is pricey so go with an open mind that you will pay a premium for a very so-so experience.
Sad we were seated at our table after waiting more than 30 minutes beyond our 7:30pm reservation on Friday, 2/14/2020.
In addition, we brought our own wine & their fee was $35.
So you make us wait until past 8:15 pm to be seated you charge my wife & I a corkage fee plus, our steak dinner was given to nearly close to an hour after we sat down to order.
The male waiter had to apologize to us for our food being delayed & for others given their plates before us even though we were their prior to them being seated.
I WILL NOT eat at that establishment again.
No more apologies. Staff wants to believe everything was cool with my service think again.
took an hour to get seated even with reservation. food was good but expensive for what it was
It was bad. Took 30 mins to get drinks. A full hour to get steaks... which were barely cooked. The steaks went back and came back well done. No apologies from the server or manager after talking to both about the situation. Me: “The steak is now well done that was ordered medium rare” Server: “Oh well, hope you enjoy your steak.” No one ever came back to check if it was okay. $200 meal that might have been worth $20. Our dog was the only beneficiary of the situation. He enjoyed the inedible well done steaks.
If you are in the area and want quality food and service- recommend going to any other restaurant. Some favs are the Village Pub or Mountain House. If I was to compare this restaurant to another it would be a step below Outback.
Service was very slow. They switched waiters on us twice. We waited over an hour and 20 min to get our steaks. The steaks were excellent but I know it does not take that long to cook. I feel our final waiter could have checked on us while we waited but that didn’t happen. I had to flag another waiter down to get an update on our food. I will give this place another opportunity to see if our experience changes.
Much better food across the street.
Although a bit pricey, I would still recommend this new restaurant on Laurel Ave in San Carlos opposite of Town. Everything we had was delicious and the service, although a bit slow, was impeccable and friendly. We started with the Taurus fresh herb salad, then had beef and shallot skewers, then the Zabatan and Picanha steaks that were cooked perfectly medium rare. We had an amazing side of truffle mashed potatoes. Wine selections by the glass were good and the corkage of $35 is not bad compared to some other high end restaurants around here. The ambience is very nice compared to how it used to look. It's a very nice restaurant for date night or special occasion.
Steak was very good. Pricing quite high so expectation were very high and cannot say the value was there for the price tags, though I obviously did not try every cut. Those we did have were very good but not at the quality of a Bazaar Meats for example or even some Mortons.
We were pretty excited to try this new place. San Carlos could use another high end dining experience.
The decor is nice- very modern. It’s a lively atmosphere, but you can still have a conversation. The wine menu was extensive. The menu was a little odd. The vast majority of the appetizers were steak based. A few salads- but otherwise, steak tacos, waygu meatballs, steak tartar- you get my drift. Like 8 of the 12 starters were steak based 🤷♀️. Anyway - we got a burrata with heirloom tomatoes and pesto- it was quite lovely.
We ended up having the Wagyu trio. It was also lovely. The sides were good but a touch under seasoned- no salt on the table either and no server to be seen to ask for some until we were well in to the meal. Brussel sprouts, sweet corn and Shisito peppers. Dessert was the bread pudding- and frankly that was just bad. Dry and boring.
Service was a bit hit or miss. Drinks took a while. We were planning on having another with dinner but they were never offered. Seemed like they were maybe a touch understaffed, still working out the new restaurant kinks maybe? Servers were very nice- but honestly they just seemed a bit disorganized.
It was good. It was expensive- but we ordered expensive things and the prices were not out of line for what we ordered. We’ll go back again.
Food was excellent and so were the staff
Incredible short ribs!
Excellent food. Superbly cooked steaks (as well as the charred octopus and salads and sides. Great wines (Of course, that's guaranteed with Chris Templin managing the restaurant). A great special occasion restaurant and ideal for small groups. WE finished off with an expansive cheese platter.
Meat quality was outstanding, as were the cocktails. Nice wine selection as well. We had a really great service experience and are looking forward to coming back again soon.
We both selected from the Wagyu menu and we thought the flavor and quality was sensational. Very pretty remodel but the big bonus was Maria (so knowledgeable and hilarious at the same time). Chris was super welcoming. We will be back!
Had no idea it was a new restaurant. Maggie our server was really nice. Service people all coordinated nicely. Not overly in your face. Took time to visit. Filet mignon was fantastic. Cooked excellent. And I just went for the prime. Mashed potatoes. Corn. Brussels. All amazing. Great bottle of Flowers Pinot. If you have to have bread, they don’t serve it. Fine by me. More room for the real food. I would definitely go again.
The steaks were out of this world!! So delicious and tender!! I would definitely go back.
There were three people working at check in. Eventhough I had a reservation there were two people that told me, “we have a wait list of approx 15 mins”. I insisted that I have a reservation and another hostess took us to our table immediately. Service is slow, it took the waitress 40 mins to take our order and another hour till our appetizers and salad arrived. The steak arrived when we were still eating the salad. We ordered medium on our steaks, but the aged porterhouse arrived well done and the spinalis arrived rare. The kitchen and the service needed to work out their kinks.
The food was perfect. We got the steak tartare and the burrata tomato appetizer - WOW. So good. The meat was perfect. The texture and quality was truly fantastic! We had such a good time. The ambiance was also really fun. The waiters were super kind and attentive. Also loved the whiskey!
Service very slow and not up to standard with the prices and ambiance. Food was good but again not up to standard. It is new still so hoping they are “ironing out the kinks.” Will try again
