Taureaux Tavern, Bar and Brasserie
Book your next event with us
We celebrated October birthdays. The service was excellent. We look forward to visiting again!
Our server was very well intended and friendly. However, when she brought our bottle of wine, she proceeded to open it and pour four glasses without offering a taste (oops). Several other minor glitches on a very slow Monday night at 7:00 pm make it hard for me to recommend. However, all four of us really enjoyed our entrees, including Salmon and Steak Frites. So, food's really good but don't expect five star service at night.
Love the space, food and ambiance, but the music is too loud and obnoxious.
The food was good. Service was efficient. Atmosphere was ok. The music was like an underground hip hop club, but very nice atmosphere.
I really like this restaurant - I have chosen to go here for breakfasts, lunches and happy hours after work. However, I think they have got their music wrong. It is way too loud and usually some sort of rap music - which although OK in the evening, doesn't go over so well at a 7:30 breakfast meeting, or business lunch (and most of the diners at this time seem to be business related). If they can switch up their playlist and lower the volume just a little at certain times of day, this place would be perfect.
Great lunch. Good solid menu. Would go back in a heartbeat.
Impressed with the service. All the french favorites. The mussels were standout.
Excellent service, everyone was friendly and congenial!
We waited an hour and a half for our food! The drinks were good and the food was tasty when it arrived but... an hour and a half.
Really great experience 2 times in a row. The food is great and the environment is modern, clean, and fun.
Amazing food and friendly staff, with beautiful decor.
Had the Cobb salad. It was just ok and I had a bad reaction to it.
Nice atmosphere and lots of food for your money.
Great service and excellent food; perfect for grabbing lunch with business clients mid-day. Only complaint would be that it started to get a bit noisy once a lot of other people arrived for lunch, but it was still manageable to have a conversation
Amazing brunch!! We got the avocado and eggs toast, s'mores waffle, sourdough french toast, breakfast burrito, and cheesy jalapeño hash browns. It was all delicious. We really didn't need the side of hash browns bc we were all stuffed after our regular meals. Servers were very nice, accommodated for when we asked if we could move outside. And icing on the cake was they gave us $50 in coupons for next time! Definitely will be back.
Great service from the moment we walked through the door! Will definitely be returning
Good food and good service. We sat in the bar. The space is very cool. However, they had all of the windows open during the lunch hour...and the adjacent courtyard for the office building is one big smoking lounge. So while you are trying to enjoy a nice lunch, all of the smokers from the office building are outside the window and the air from outside blows right into the restaurant and fills the bar with second hand smoke. It made the "eating" part of the experience less desirable.
Food was delicious, especially the lobster dip. The helpings of fries were MASSIVE and delicious.
Beautiful restaurant, amazing food and great service. Definitely a great place for clients, friends or date night.
I have been before and had a burger which was great this time I had a Chicken Caesar Salad, not very good..
Great atmosphere and service. Everyone at our table loved their food (except my entree). Would definitely go again.
Have been to Taureaux Tavern about 5 times now. The Hamburgers are the best around downtown. The roasted bone marrow left much to be desired, will not order again–bones were almost bare and not as flavorful as those I've had elsewhere. However the "braised" oxtail and bread that accompanies the marrow
are excellent. Very accommodating servers. Will be my go to place for a burger.
Taureaux is the gem of the South Loop. Love the oudoor seating.
Very good. Good for business lunch and convenient.
Attentive staff, terrific food at reasonable prices - Tarrah’s Tavern is a WINNER!
Good urban vibe! And nachos with lobster🍸
Taureaux has a really nice menu, good beer selection, and extremely well-trained staff. It is too loud however. We tried the patio this time hoping it would be quieter, but the music there is played quite loud.
We will continue to return, but hope that they will address their noise issues.
Very Bear & Bullish. The waitstaff is very attentive. The food is great. The drinks even better!!
I have visited Taureaux twice. The first was a lovely lunch on the patio, where my patty melt was excellent and way more than I needed to eat. On the second visit I tried the Brie LT -- pretty flavorless and disappointing at best. The second visit was further marred by the host, who would not let us sit on the patio despite there being an empty table and a first-come-first-served policy. We were tolf that it was "spoken for," yet no one sat at that table the entire time we were there. I happened upon a manager as we were leaving and explained my frustration. He went off in a huff toward the host, but never said anything to me about what would be done. Not in any hurry to return.
I went to Taureaux on a weekday for brunch with my boyfriend and a friend. I had found out about Taureaux simply from surfing Open Table and looking for restaurants nearby to our hotel. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the host, but that was the highlight of our visit. It took several minutes once we were seated to get water glasses and our water poured. We never received any silverware (until after our food arrived and we had to ask for them)! We ordered two cappuccinos and a coffee. Cappuccinos were ok, but my boyfriend had an empty coffee cup for awhile before he was offered a refill (again after our food arrived)! Food was not great. My omelette had WAY TOO MUCH COOKED SPINACH in it. My boyfriend said his Corned Beef Hash tasted “fishy.” The breakfast potatoes were good and my friend enjoyed his breakfast sandwich. Overall, not worth the visit and not worth the money. I will not be back.
Waiters understaffed. They tried their best, but unable to keep up with their tables. Food had no taste. Halfway through our meal, the entire restaurant’s AC stopped working I assume. It become stifling hot to the point I was sweating and could not eat my meal as I was too warm. Not the best way to host a business lunch. This is my second time here and will be my last. Tasteless food, lackluster ambiance, hot during the summer and understaffed waiters were the final nails in the coffin for me. Too many options to settle for this one.
Awesome space. Super cool patio. Food is yummy. Great place to get a nicer than usual lunch in a that part of the loop.
This was my second time dining here. Outside seating was very pleasant, music selection was great. The burger and fries were tasty, nachos pretty good. Lobster bites were very very cheesy. The description said nothing about cheese. Not too happy about that
Could have been an off day, but it seemed like the host had never set a table before and the bar person who delivered the drinks almost ran into a table, then sloshed most of our drinks out onto his tray, so we took off before it could get any worse.
Didn’t have a waiter, so took longer for drink/food orders through the already busy bartender. Called ahead to request seating in a quiet corner for my mom who has partial vision. Seated us in a far, noisey corner that was hard for her to get to through other tables. Would encourage them to take extra steps in accommodating when they are aware of visitors with disabilities.
Excellent food and cocktails. Lovely outdoor seating space.
The service needs a little attention, but the food was good and the space is pleasant.
Excellent food and service!!
Last day of work celebration...excellent atmosphere, excellent service, friendly staff...I will be back
