Tatsu's French Restaurant
French classics such as Beef Bourguignon, Saumon Poche/Meuniere, Escalope de Veau au Citron and a delicious Pureed Carrot Soup grace the menu. The house salad dressing and teriyaki sauce are such customer favorites that for years they have been available to take home from the restaurant.
Tatsu’s is the perfect place to celebrate an anniversary or special occasion and a recently opened private dining area can accommodate larger gatherings and banquets. The quality of the cuisine, affordability and attentive service has created a loyal following of patrons who dine regularly at Tatsu’s.
Love this place. Haven't been to Tatsus is a few years and it was just as good as I remember. The escargot was awesome and we had good service. I had the duck and my folks had the veal for dinner and both were delicious. They even made a vegan dish more my daughter which she really enjoyed. A great place for special occasions.
This restaurant has the poorest service I have ever seen. The staff is extremely rude. A waitress knelled by our table and talked to my wife like she was a child. We never had our drinks refilled. We never received any bread. Not to mention our food looked as if it had been sitting out long before arriving to us. The top was crusty and the plate was so hot we couldn't touch it. Not at all what I expected
Upon arriving we had to wait quite a while for anyone to acknowledge. A waiter kept kept walking past us and when we asked him for help he said he was busy and someone would be with us soon. Finally a lady seated us. We then had to wait for someone to acknowledge us at the table! One waitress said we stopped said she couldn't help us because we weren't in her section! Finally a very rude waiter, who cursed at our table and was obviously drunk, explained they were under staffed and it would be a while for our drinks. It went downhill from there. I will never return or recommend this restaurant
Always an amazing dinner celebrating our birthdays. Food is fantastic every time
This is one of my families favorite restaurants. The food is always outstanding. We love both lunch and dinner.
I haven't been to Tatsu's in a couple of years. It's pretty much the same menu. They could stand to update it a bit. The real problem for us is that there is construction of some kind going on in the building and the whole place smelled like paint thinner when we were there. We almost left because of it. In addition, on a Saturday night, you think they would have a real bartender on duty and not be having the wait staff to mix drinks. We had to look up an ingredient list, and explain how to make a couple of classic cocktails. We weren't the only ones. A table down from us had to explain what was in and how to make a Grasshopper.
Food gets a C
Decore gets a C
Noise level was quiet
The chemical smell gets an F-
My wife & I tend to evaluate based on how a restaurant would compare to one of our favorite NYC places - and Tatsu’s compares very favorably! Margaret took our reservation and also was our server at lunch - and she is a treasure😀! She patiently guided us during our first ever visit, and her recommendations were superb!
The ambience here is everything a good French restaurant should be - we felt like we were in a French home made welcome by the family! The food is the best French food we’ve experienced in 44 years of our marriage and we are coming back to celebrate that 44th anniversary here😀!
I’m already planning on bringing other family members here - we are thrilled to have found this in KC.
Well, I like liver! And it’s done to perfection.
Possibly the gin and tonic could be better, not asked if the gin being used is ok.
But still I rated them 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!
Delicious food as ALWAYS! They never disappoint at Tatsu’s
Dinner was fantastic- server delightful and dessert so yummy!
always a wonderful dining experience one of the main reasons is the ambiance the lack of noise it is quiet and suitable for conversation
Tatsu's never disappoints-always good food, great ambiance and friendly service. Our fiends stayed on until they were ready to close service for lunch, such an intimate setting for our luncheons, in a quiet corner of Prairie Village.
The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Our server was just right-attentive but not pushy. Always a great place to dine.
We have chosen Tatsu’s for our annual anniversary dinner for 38 years! When I made the reservation I noted that it was a anniversary. Nothing was acknowledged or anything special done. Very disappointed 😞
Took my wife out and happened to see this place on open table. First time visiting and we were blown away. The service was impeccable and the food was amazing. This is our new French restaurant and we highly recommend you try for yourself.
Server kept messing up our orders and things were forgotten or wrong. The food itself sorely needed seasoning. I’ve eaten at Tatsu’s more than 200 times. Sadly, this was the worst experience I’ve had there after many wonderful experiences.
Consistently very good food and service. A special occasion place for us. Ambiance is the best. Quiet but friendly. Will definitely be back.
Very nice restaurant for special occasions.
The service was slow, food took a long time.
Great food and service as always. Limited V day menu, but hit the right spots. A not so hidden GEM!
Valentines Day was wonderful
Food was just okay for the price point being above average.
Great atmosphere, great food, would highly recommend. Bring your gold or platinum card though, you will need it.
The food, service, ambience and hospitality of the staff was even greater than their usual 5 star experience.
We have coming to Tatsu's for several decades and our first visits there meant we had to drive 25 miles one way! We especially like to go there for special occasions but do dine there without an excuse. My wife had the crab soup to start and I had their soup of the day--an excellent pumpkin based soup. After the traditional house salad she enjoyed veal liver while I had an excellent scallop and mushroom dish. We didn't order dessert due to New Year's resolutions but we saw three other tables each enjoying souffles! We enjoyed our meal so much we are going back tonight!
I’ve never been disappointed with the food at Tatsu’s!
It had been a few years since we've been there, but what makes Tatsu's a wonderful restaurant hasn't changed. Outstanding service. Excellent food. Lots of menu choices. Good wine selections. A must-try for special occasion dining.
This was a very enjoyable meal with one exception. We ordered a filet medium and sent it back twice and it still came out pretty rare. Not sure what the deal was with this.
Everything else was excellent.
Might need new ceiling tiles, still great foodand service
A personal favorite -- I would recommend it to anyone
quiet and well serviced - food excellent as always.
It was wonderful and a good value!
Outstanding food, service, and atmosphere!
Loved the herbed chicken with vegetables! Took my friend there for her birthday and they brought out a small dessert with a lighted candle - nice touch!
Tatsu's is always a great place to unwind and have a quality dinner!
Tatsu's is simply the finest restaurant in Kansas City. If you eat there, you'll know for sure that it's not a fluke that it's been open for 38 years, which is many lifetimes in the restaurant business. The food is sublime! Everything we ordered was perfection--the soups (French Onion and Soupe de Crabe) alone would have been the best meal we've had in ages, but, the Boeuf Bourguignon and the Veal Liver were beyond compare, and the desserts (I had the Cherry Parfait) exceeded even my very high expectations! The restaurant is elegant, but, not stuffy. Our waiter was a true professional, which only added to the wonderful experience. I can't recommend Tatsu's highly enough! Whether you have a special event, or just want to remind yourself what truly delicious, perfectly prepared food tastes like, this is the place!
As always the food and service were excellent. A lovely place to dine.
Second lunch in less than a month. Live in Lee's Summit so don't get here as often as I would like. Have never been disappointed.
It is still a special place and close to home for us! We are glad it is still around and going strong, even with not so great weather outside!
Food and service were very good, a little overpriced....servers need to ask people to turn off or step outside with their phones, if it becomes a consistent issue, it was in our case, and ruined our evening for our own conversations...Restaurant is too intimate and quaint for phone conversations of others....
