The entire menu is now based on being “shareable” and casual, but the prices are still quiet high. So this isn’t the place for a business lunch, unless you don’t mind having people pass plates around and wonder who’s going to get the last bite of food. Nor is it a place for a elegant dinner out, like it used to be. On top of that Wente did away with the Entertainment Club, that for a nominal yearly fee allowed up to six people to have a free glass of Wente wine with a meal purchased and no corkage fee when bringing wine to dinner. The club perks took the sting out of paying for higher priced items and was a huge hit with locals. Apparently Wente doesn’t care about gaining repeat business with the locals and would rather catering to millennials passing through town. So, while the food and service are still very good, the whole restaurant concept falls short, especially for the price. P.S. - the smoked pork chop that was so popular is NOT on the menu. Must be too hard to share!

Limited menu, I had a hard time finding something I wanted to eat. I feel it is quite expensive for plates that are meant to be shared. I don’t care for the “new” concept.

We booked the Cellar to celebrate 60th birthday. Tasting with 9th degree wines, lunch, etc.
1. The food service was poorly timed. Seems we waited a LONG WHILE from salad to fish course. Very awkward.
2. Waitperson helping us was seldom seen. Appeared to be very VERY busy upstairs with other customers. Would have expected more attentive service. Waited for more than 20 minutes for person to come back to room so we could ask for a spoon.
3. Explanation of wines was poor or NON-existant. Still not sure about the reds....

Service was minimal, eg poured our own wine and water after initial pour from waitress. Restaurant was empty.
Given takeaway dessert when we excepted to eat it on premises.
Encouraged high tipping for no service provided.
Locked within grounds with no exit when we left the restaurant. Absolutely terrify and I had anxiety attack. No exit or any explanation from server as we left. Rest lights turned off as we exited the restaurant. Uber was ordered ( 30 minutes wait) he arrived we couldn’t get out.

The Cab and Cow had no fresh vegetables except for a few Brussels sprouts with the last course. Every course was the same color and textures and the dishes didn’t fit together that well. I was pretty disappointed.

Amazing day! The server was fantastic and made the experience, he was knowledgeable, made great recommendations and timed the courses. Food was tasty and presentation 5 star, would definitely recommend and go back!

It was confusing that tables appeared to be served fries with lamb sliders, and we were not. We had to ask for them and were charged (they are NOT on the menu??). Over a week before coming, I called to say I needed gluten and dairy free choices. It was very disappointing that there wasn't a cracker or bread to go with the food. My companion was a chef and he noted how easily that would have been, even if they just purchased a gluten free cracker. The lamb sliders were delicious and even as a leftover the next day. We also requested to just have the ribeye and we couldn't get that "because they are hard to source". Disappointing they can't just order more. Price feels slightly inflated. I would only recommend to friends with expendable income.

We had dined at Wente numerous times in the “old days” and now they have completely renovated their dining establishment and menus. We had four people and ordering is family style. Portions were large and everything was very tasty. The table was definitely too small for four people with several dishes. The vegetarian option was Indian fare. The seafood stew had plenty of fish. There isn’t a bread service. We ordered the cheese puffs but they were served cold and definitely need to be served hot. Corkage is $25. Service is swift and terrific and the atmosphere is inviting. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. Reservations required as they are busy.

Food was very tasty and filling - there aren’t a large number of options to choose from; but, everyone found something and all enjoyed what they received. Food prices are a bit on the high end, but not crazy and the wine prices seemed very reasonable. We were in the back side room which doesn’t have any soft surfaces or other acoustic dampening, so it became pretty loud as it filled with guests (this does, unfortunately, seem like a trend in restaurants these days, so maybe others enjoy it this way).

We loved our dinner @ the Vinyard @ Wente. After a hectic day of shopping we relaxed and loved the ragu. The meat and cheese appetizer, lamb sliders and the delicious ragu made our day. It’s a must for next year if not sooner.

The share-able plates are very delicious and the portions are generous. 3 items for 3 people was enough. I especially love the lamb sliders and the pan bread. I'll definitely go back again.

This was our first visit since the renovation. I think they new layout , concept and design is great. The new menu was very good (tapas/shared plates) and the selection was good and different. Our server, Shelly was fabulous, super informative, friendly and helpful. There is still a bit of snottiness from the from the front area however which even our guest commented on. We had an reservation at 12:45, we showed up at 12:42 and were told we would have to wait as we could not be seated until 12:45, but then right behind us was another party whose reservation was at 12:45 also and they got seated immediately. Then I was trying to get information about purchasing some bottles of wine. I stood by the bar area hoping someone would help me, but instead 3 people behind the bar just walked back and forth and never bothered to ask if I had a question or needed help, so I just went back to our table. It remains to be seen at this point in time if we will return.

The service was excellent and the food was great but I did find the prices of the small plates to be more on the expensive side. For the price of the small plate you could get a regular dinner plate and be full. It was great just paid a lot for not so much food.

Decent place, mostly new menu. Small plates with family style mains. Limited in perspective though, good luck finding fresh vegetables anywhere. Fried Brussels Sprouts was the ONLY garden type of option. Heavy sauces and flavors everywhere else. More like a bar gastro pub versus California winery. Very meh.

The champagne was flat. The butternut squash hummus was delicious once it defrosted - it was served too cold. The sirloin skewers was only 1 skewer and was served cold. The truffles were also too cold - they were delicious when we took them home and let them get to room temperature. Overall - not impressed.

We have been dining at Wente for decades, both inside and out, through many new permutations - some great - some not so much. Constants have always been and remain professional and friendly floor staff and well executed cuisine. Our problem remains that we relied on Wente for a fine dining experience in the culinery desert which is Livermore Valley. It no longer exists. I am sure that staffing and financial issues have guided some of these changes. We are afraid the service will fall as long standing employees will find more remunerative inspiring job options elsewhere.

The new configuration in the dining room and deck is casual and uninviting - bare tables, large sitting areas nobody uses and a cold spartan bar setup. Menu has some good things for lunch, but is too restricted in variety for a serious dinner. We enjoyed sharing the Seafood Stew and "deep dish" style flatbread, but the rest of the menu is lacking its past innovation and variety.

We wish our friends at Wente luck, but we will probably not visit as often as in the past. That being said, if you are looking for a wonderful venue for a lunch outdoors on a deck? This is the place!!

We had a great time and loved everything we tried. I highly suggest the butternut squash hummus. What made it even better for the month of November non-Wente bottles of wine are half price!

So disappointed! The Restaurant at Wente is not a restaurant anymore. It’s a wine bar with “small plates@ and it was not even close to Wente standards. I won’t be back.

We knew the restaurant had changed the menu, but were surprised there wasn’t more balance with the shareable dishes. It would be nice if you offered a couple of full meals for those that want a complete meal. Thought the prices were very high. Quality was okay, liked the hummus and the pork belly tacos.
