Taste, Wood-Fired Kitchen
Taste’s menu was created for sharing and is perfect as a family-style dinner with hearty portions and incredibly diverse choices. Guests may enjoy one of Nicewonder Vineyards’ award-winning wines as a tasting flight accompanying dinner, or while relaxing at the hand-crafted zinc bar.
Great for year-round dining, regardless of the weather. When it is warm, the sides go up to enjoy fresh open-air dining, when it gets cold, the sides are down and the heaters keep you warm and toasty.

Excellent food and service! Nice summer breeze traveling through the restaurant. Summer squash blossom and XO noodles were wonderful!
We had a wonderful time while dining at Taste! The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was amazing! Highly recommended!
For a $ 72.00 steak for two to be served on cheap paper plates is crazy.
The carrots were outstanding. The Cuban, Meatball Sub, and Flat Bread pizza were outstanding as well. The only thing, oysters were awesome but a little pricey.
Great food and great wines! Overall great experience.
Great night, food was good, drinks were great and the ambience/atmosphere was perfect. Beautiful location!
A beautiful property it is, and enjoyed the outdoor dining. The food was inventive and quite good. The menu was a little conjested, there by confusing. Our server, although endearing was filling in for someone, so his knowledge was limited.
We are anticipating the opening of the yurts and hotel, and the completion of the property for a full effect.
Children were playing around the garden which is close to the serving/dining area. Allowing this should probably be rethought, as it appeared that one child had been hurt.
Not only that but at the cost of dinner, seeing children playing and getting dirty is not the ambiance I would be looking to repeat.
Such a special experience to eat right around the corner from where so much of the food was grown. The food and ambiance were fantastic, we're so excited to have a restaurant like this near us!
I am glad that we tried Taste; however, the experience was not worth the cost. The food was ok, but we found the duck to be undercooked. The music genre was not to our liking and did not fit the ambiance of the venue. I hope that the restaurant succeeds because I am a proud Appalachian who grew up on home-grown food.
Wonderful as always. We will always come back. First rate
Great first experience and we'll be back soon!
As usual, the food and service were excellent. The chef was very kind to us, accommodating a dairy allergy in our party.
Wonderful food, unique menu. Great staff!
The scenery is absolutely beautiful!!! Our waitress was very entertaining & attentive. The food was very good & we were pleased to learn the overwhelming majority is produced on site. We wished the cocktails had incorporated more ingredients from the farm (lavender, basil, etc). Better signage/directions would be helpful for first timers (but now we know). Definitely a win for the area. Wishing Travis the best in his expansion /looking forward to info about The Inn
Great experience as usual. The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. Two things that NEED to change: ditch the paper plates and reduce the volume of the music. Sidenote, and this may just be personal taste, but the music doesn’t really go with the vibe of the restaurant so maybe revisiting that would be a good idea as well.
Service was very good. Selection limited. Salmon patties tasted like canned ones mom used to make. Pretty expensive for 2 patties, no salad or sides. Setting and ambiance wonderful, but food below average
Service was great, however the menu is extremely limited. No substitutions or add-ons allowed. The food was honestly not great at all and extremely over priced. The Chardonnay was very good but also very pricey. If you are looking for expensive wine and a nice atmosphere, I would recommend. But if you’re looking for great food, I would not.
Amazing food and service!
Fabulous food, service and atmosphere! Highly recommend. You won’t be disappointed. We will be going back!
Very over priced. Paper plates and plastic forks even with post COVID precautions - not acceptable. Potato chips straight in the bag didn’t help either. All of the above is okay for a halfway house at the local municipal golf course. Not acceptable at these prices at a private winery/golf course.
Adventurous locavore cuisine in an indoor/outdoor setting set among rolling hills and shady groves.
This place is amazing! Besides the great food and staff the drive in and scenery from any part of the restaurant is breathtaking.
The food was excellent! I had the tuna noodle casserole. This is not what your mother used to make. It was one of the best things I've ever eaten! The service was fast & friendly. Rustic tables & chairs. A paper placemat would have been nice. The wine prices were not published on the menu. I had 2 glasses of their merlot. It was good but not served at cellar temperature. We were shocked to learn when we got the check that each glass of wine was $16! My husband had 2 glasses of chardonnay, also expensive. Can't remember the exact price. Had I known the cost I would have had something else or at least not had a 2nd glass!
The paper plates are ridiculous; I was not expecting dive bar plate presentation. What wasn't on a paper plate was on a slate slab, which was an annoying surface for sauces and such. The charcuterie board items we chose were tiny for the price (salami was nearly transparent slices, blue cheese was a tiny area of little crumbles). The pickled okra and asparagus were good. To serve this with Ritz crackers when it was around a $35-40 board... Our salads were standard (the seasoning on the sourdough crotons missed the mark, and the tomatoes were bland). The salmon cakes were good but would be more enjoyable if they were served with at least a small green side for some flavor difference. The dessert we were offered should be an embarrassment; when there is only 1 dessert to choose from it should be quality. We did enjoy the mixed drinks. I agree with other comments that the wine is overpriced for portion and quality.
We really wanted to like this restaurant. It's a lovely setting with the area surroundings and casual yet charming in terms of furnishings, lighting, etc. However, to spend over $230 and be served on paper plates and receive the major disappointments we had, we would only return if we knew major changes were made.
Excellent all around. We will be coming back again and again
Good food and great atmosphere. We will be back.
Beautiful environment and excellent food. Can’t wait to go back.
Classy, delicious, and unique!
Excellent food, wide choices on menu. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit, beautiful spot.
Fantastic food and service every time! A real gem in a bucolic setting.
Great food and a unique experience.
Mothers Day Eve
I made reservations at Taste for my nephew's college graduation. It was a short drive from Johnson City, TN but definitely worth the drive! The food was amazing. The staff was extremely receiving and professional. Gave us Southern hospitality! The location was unmatched! I'd surely return from Atlanta to spend a weekend here!
Oysters were excellent. Meatballs on the sandwich were served half raw. Server was excellent.
Great meal. Chef Travis is amazing.
Great menu to compliment wines. Full bar service also available.. particularly liked the self selection for Charcuterie, cheese and pickles platters.
It was a beautiful setting, a little hard to find but understandably due to being centralized in a vineyard. Food was pretty good but a little over priced I think.
The food and service was excellent! The kids grilled cheese was a little burnt, and the kids picked around it. Crab cakes were excellent, as well as the charcuterie. We will definitely go back. The only bad part was there was a table where one lady was screaming at the top of her lungs! It made for a miserable dinner conversation because we could not even hear ourselves think. It was really bad.
Travis and team do a great job. Tremendous setting too.
