I went here for my birthday brunch and was really excited for the date. However, it took a very long time for my table to be served. The waiter was super kind, he was just a bit neglectful, maybe because it was understaffed? I'm not sure. But it just seemed like it was he would only come back to us every 30mins. So we got our mimosas, he made sure they were filled regularly, but there's only so long that we can survive off of liquor before you start to get graggy from hunger. Overall, I'm pretty sure we were there for an hour before we got our food and that really declined the overall experience.
Now, was the food good when it finally came? ABSOLUTELY. And the overall ambiance was really beautiful. And the portions were great. But man, that wait was a killer.
I'll go back tho, just hope the service improved.
Always reliable. Good food and not overpriced. Elegant without being scene-y.
Nice restaurant, really cute atmosphere & great food and service
Amazing food, great service, and overall really enjoyable time
I had a lovely birthday brunch here!! The service was very friendly and helpful and they wrote a lovely note for me!
Loved my food and the bottomless. The patio was also lovely. A wonderful time!
Food is fantastic! But it was super cramped and LOUD. Apparently, there is a DJ that performs on the weekends in the atrium. Would love to eat here again, but probably would not go on Friday night.
A bit pricey but the food was good, the service was excellent, ambiance was bright and cheery, not too noisy.
I got sick. My burger was served with a salad that looked old and had bugs. The waiter was not very attentive, and the noise made it almost impossible to have a conversation. It was very disappointing.
I love this place — and have to say, I always feel the management is largely responsible for it. They are always very attentive & accommodating. It’s no wonder the food and service are consistently fantastic. Please keep up the excellent work.
It was a very good experience and the door Gal Jennie is truly amazing and made my experience more lovely and our waiter was on point, but the food this time around was way to salty and I kinda didn’t eat it much and kinda didn’t do anything about it.
I J’aDore TASTE and thank you for the experience
Really want to love this place. I love the location, the layout, the menu choices. But the quality of food or should I say the chef have a long way to go. Sauces don’t really go well with the food, many items are blend and I can name a location I’ve tasted a better one for each of the items within a few blocks radius. Had a chicken sandwich - sauce is too sweet to go with it, chicken was dry and the sandwich itself, mostly buns, was very soggy. Our waiter forgot to bring us a menu when requested, which isn’t a big deal, but it left us feeling I welcomed and not a priority for the stuff. Not the first time I’ve been, but probably the last, have this spot too many chances to improve and every time it comes of as mediocre.
The appetizers were great but they brought out our main course shortly after we received our appetizers. My guess is that they then put the main course under a heat lamp until we finished our appetizers and my steak was over cooked and dry.
For the first time ever, welcome/check in was less than stellar. As a long time repeat customer, I was astonished. I was dismayed by the experience. So much so, that I’m not sure I’ll continue to think of TASTE as one of my go to choices. Our waitstaff were exemplary. But, otherwise, I’m very disappointed.
Favorite neighborhood restaurant -always a good meal!
Slow service. Only one waiter managing the entire patio at dinner rush. Ordered prix fixe menu and each course came out before we even finished. Dessert came out 2minutes after our main entrees were served. Waiter was not an expert with menu. We asked if the chicken was fried and he said no and it was. I suggested the place to a friend I was meeting that was in town and I was embarrassed for our experience.
Very relaxed atmosphere, great for business or catching up w/ friends.
They badly need a sommelier. Their wine list is not expansive and the servers are unable to make recommendations to pair with the food selections. For the prices they charge (we spent ~$150 for 2) the quality of our experience was lacking. While we were still trying to find the right flavor of wine for the dinner specials they had, our orders weren't put in. So after 20 minutes and 3 tries of wines that were not even close to the flavor profiles we were looking for, our server said the manager would be over to help because they were too busy to help us. The manager never came. I made a selection based on my best guess of what the typical flavor would be for the particular grape, and asked them to put in our food order. Not fine dining in my mind (especially since I've been to some phenomenal haute cuisine in LA). At least some consultation with a sommelier to teach servers what is recommended for pairing with the dishes offered on the menu...
Great place, limited vegan menu
Great service and food
Loved all... food was great, Bradley the manager did everything to make us feel special. Andre treated like Royalty as well. Delicious and creative dishes. Don't forget to order the Home Made Truffles--WOW
This place used to be my go to, but the last few times the food has been really sub par.
This was the second time in a row where my food was cold. My girlfriends salad was barely dressed and it wasn't made as described on the menu. We were also seated at a table in the back patio that is near the door where the crew throws the trash out, so trash bags were walked by our table a few times during our meal.
Wonderful experience at Taste on Melrose. We tried the smart hearts menu and it was fantastic. Wish we would have had our Valentine’s Day here.
Cute brunch spot with New-American/California style menu options and a pleasant ambiance. Early seating is recommended for weekends as it tends to become quite busy after 12-12:30pm. There is no parking lot but free local street parking is available south of Melrose. The breakfast croissant and chilaquiles sandwich were both delicious though the shoestring fries were a bit limp and dry. I am definitely coming back to try the cocktails and other menu items!
It was a beautiful day to sit outside and they reserved us an outdoor seat! The Lobster Benedict was the most delicious Benedict I’ve ever had. Service was great. Food was hot and delicious.
I took my mom out for Valentine’s Day dinner. It was a last minute reservation, everything worked out perfectly. From the moment we walked in the door to when we were leaving the building, everyone and I mean everyone was polite and warm and welcoming. The food was excellent, our server was on point and made a perfect recommendation from the wine list. Most importantly, Mom had a great experience and that was the goal.
My sincere thanks,
Josh Tarlow
Valentines
Overall sub par
Took too long to order and get our food.
Went for Valentine’s Day, set menu. Everything cold, lobster soup had old rubbery lobster. Maybe rest of the year they serve good food, but not on Valentines
Was it really necessary to point out that we were a little late to our reservation if you were going to give us a table anyway?
I would have given 5 stars if we had an outside table. We were squished between two inside tables (with a 2pm reservation at table 23). I heard every word of the business lunch next to us. On the positive side, the food and service were top-notch. Our server, Nahum went above and beyond to accommodate my daughter’s food allergies / restrictions. I’ll request a table in front next time.
Good place to enjoou a happy hour and have some spirits! I loved the atmosphere and the service. In a next trip to LA, I would like to visit again.
The service was terrible, the restaurant was basically empty as we arrived at an off time…but it still took the hostess 5 minutes to come to the stand and seat us. Our server was super complacent and inattentive, the bus person was the saving grace of this whole operation and I wish I could p them only lol. I’ve been here before and it wasn’t terrible but this was downright unacceptable.
Excellent Sunday Brunch. Fun atmosphere with great food!
Great food! Had the filet minion and the chocolate brioche! Both were full of flavor!
Wow! I have been going to this place since they opened, but as i have moved away from the neighborhood i havent been for a hot minute. They’ve grown and was so packed!! We had a reservation but got their a 1/2 hour early...nevertheless the Manager handled the situation adeptly. It was a super special occasion (like big LA/ Hollywood stuff) so it was truly fantastic to have a nice, yummy, but also utterly relaxed beginning to a long night. I cant thank the whole team enough.
Food was fabulous
Server never returned
Really enjoyed this meal! The vegan gnocchi what’s the most amazing I have ever had. Good wine list and great staff. Easy to talk to your table mates too!
Visit family member from LA. We in town from Seattle. Phone recording explained parking however the valet was not at his stand and charged us double what they said on the recording.
The good was disappointing.
