Taste of Havana
Food was pretty good and service was excellent.
The food was good, but honestly the appetizer plate was so good, it was hard to finish the dinner. And the Flan was great. Margarita's delicious.
Taste of Havana is a hidden gem, especially if you don't travel any further north than Lincoln Park or Wrigleyville. The service is great, the atmosphere is great, and the food is even better than great. This spectacular find is just a short five minute walk from the Blue Line Logan Square stop. Don't be a fool and miss out on this awesome eatery.
Very bad experience. Took so long to get food and drinks. Steak came out (literally) colder than room temperature which was alarming. When speaking to the owner/manager, they didn’t seem to be concerned.
Great place for my birthday! Quaint, authentic and wonderful service! They sang me happy birthday and enjoyed doing it! Loved it!
Amazing food and service
They need to add an option for vegetarians. Papa rellena of rice and cheese, tofu. Rice options not made with chicken or beef broths and/or meat chunks. Tostones stuffed with spinach, cauliflower etc. Just some ideas I'll definitely be back
The service was good and the restaurant is nicely decorated. However, the food is marginal at best. I ordered the breaded steak (a cuban cuisine staple) The steak was tough and the breading was so thick that it peeled off. My husband ordered the Guajirito (believe this is a take on the Puerto Rican Jibarito sandwich) which did not taste very good since it was made with platanos that were as we call it Cuba, pinton, meaning in between green and ripe. Would I go back to Taste of Havana? That is a resounding NO.
My Cuban GF and I walked here and she and I loved it. Get the sampler platter. It as awesome and a great value! Definitely coming back here.
The customer service from everyone was tremendously overwhelming. Great food and drinks. Definitely will be back. Great vibes. This is a hidden treasure
The food is absolutely amazing. Highly recommend. Great mojito selection.
Beautiful and cozy ambience. Delicious authentic Cuban food and huge portion at a very reasonable price. Excellent service. We are so glad to have found this wonderful restaurant through Open Table. We will definitely return many more times.
Beyond amazing service, and very friendly staff! The food was great as well
It wasnt anything as fresh and as good as my cuban grandma would have made.
The food was delicious and the service was attentive. The margaritas were fabulous!
Great food and staff. The mojitos were great and the food tasted amazing. Would definitely go back
We asked for a reservation at 7:00. When we arrived, on a Friday, we are the only folks in the restaurant. The hostess asked if we had a reservation. There was literally one name in the book, ours. At her station, there was an annoying bell that rang incessantly that disrupted our conversation.
The food was fair and the wine pour was good. The most impressive thing about Taste of Havana was our server. She was excellent! She gave just the right amount of attention and described the dishes beautifully.
Beyond that, it was just "meh." Perhaps this is more of a late night spot.
I really enjoyed myself and the staff was very efficient and friendly.
We loved our experience at Taste of Havana! They serve authentic Cuban food which is very hard to find in Chicago. The food was delicious and they were also very generous with their portions. Their mojitos are the best!!! I would definitely recommend this place to others.
The food here at taste of Havana was excellent! However, we most likely won’t be back due to the poor service. We were there on a Monday and it wasn’t terribly busy, but the service seemed chaotic and disorganized. After ordering an appetizer and our entrees, we waited about 25 minutes before flagging down our waitress, who said they were ‘working on it”. So we ordered another round of drinks. Ten minutes later I look, and every member of the staff was in the kitchen; no one was even making drinks. So 20 minutes after ordering our drinks we get them. Then came out entrees, but they were just starting the appetizer because they ‘put the ticket at the end’. Their excuse was that they were working on another order...a restaurant has to be able to work on more than one order at a time!!! So we told them to forget the app.
When we got our checks, (which they had offered to split 3 ways) 2 of us got a correct bill, but one got someone else’s. (Which by the way, ended up being charged to me after all) Not sure how all that happened, but when I spoke to the manager the next day he said he would look into it. Not quite the response I expected, but I’ll take it up with my credit card company.
The menu should also offer more pork dishes, but since this restaurant is very new, they may be working on adjusting their menu. Desserts were fabulous, but you need more than great food to make it in Chicago. You need the service to match. Paladar is also in the neighborhood, and is also excellent, so that will be our regular ‘go to’ for Cuban food.
Excellent food and service. Beautiful atmosphere.
