Taste of Belgium Restaurant
Just OK food & service
Stopped in for dinner our first night on the island. Have been here many times before and the food has always been good and the service has been hit or miss. Well, they missed it this time. We were seated by one person and there was no silverware at the table (it wasn't busy at all). Someone else came by with silverware and we asked a question about the menu and were told the server could help us. Thinking the guy was just a busser, I said "oh, sorry, I thought you were the server" to which I was told, "no, I'm the manager on duty". OK.....
My wife really liked her Carpaccio and Croquette de Fromage, but it came out without the dipping sauce as advertised. I ordered the grouper dinner special, but the soup came out with no spoon. Kinbelin was our server, and while she was super friendly, she wasn't very attentive and she charged me for my hot tea which came with my dinner.
So, we're now disappointed and are not sure if we'll stop back again. Prices are par for the course for the island.
Go elsewhere. The vegan Tempeh specialty tasted like shoe and not represented of the menu description. The schnitzel was not pounded thin. Thick like a ribeye and overcooked.
Outstanding, from the second we walked in the door until we finished dessert. Could have adopted our wait staff and the food was superb. Our main server”G”. Made sure it was better than expected. Ask for her. Try “The Cure”. You will be taken back by the entire evening.
We have been their previous years and have thoroughly enjoyed it. We were disappointed this year however. There were five of us, food came out at different intervals, two people were served and it took about 10 to 15 minutes before the rest of the table is served. One person got the seafood and pasta, the fish wasn't cooked, the mussel shells were empty the scallops that were listed on the menu were missing, and there were only two shrimp. It also commented about a red sauce; there was no red sauce, and when we asked they brought out tomato paste. It was inedible and was sent back. She did get the beef stew and said it was delicious but by the time she got it we were all done.
Taste Of Belgium is truly a secret hiddengem found in Aruba. We celebrated our anniversary & birthday & they truly went above & beyond to celebrate in a special way. This included a very special sparkler firework, Belgium waffle, strawberries, Belgium chocolate sauce & whipped cream. They sang Happy Birthday twice in 2 different languages. What an unforgettable experience. Excellent cheerful attentive staff! The food is the BEST ON THE ISLAND! They have e grouper 3 ways & the one with a light lemon wine sauce I tried was delish! The Belgium beers are over the top & have not been able to get this selection in the USA. They serve them in special glasses with set ups the way they were authentically meant to be served. We are def going there a 2nd time this week as there is NO BETTER FOOD ANYWHERE IN ARUBA!
Best beef stew ever, half price beers and a chocolate lava cake to die for!
Wonderful food and amazing service@
Wonderful service. Our waitress Glach was so attentive and helpful. The grouper was great, both the Carribean and the fried versions.
Food was great...service was polite and accommodating. Just way too slow.
Shrimp was undercooked and rubbery. Grouper also was tasteless. Our Waiter didn’t point out the gratuity was automatically charged on our bill, so when I tipped 25% without realizing I’d already been charged 18% gratuity, I felt like I’d been cheated. I never mind tipping, but the food wasn’t great and I’d never have knowingly tipped almost 50%!
Won’t go back.
Food here is always excellent. We stumbled into an early bird dinner which was great and a great value besides.
The food was really good with many choices but not sure they were traditional Belgium food. Lol beer was great food very good and that apple pie was fantastic ( that was Belgium!) highly recommend.
Always Excellent Food and Service
We always make it a point to have dinner here every time we visit Aruba. In fact, this trip, we have had dinner here 3 times in 10 days so far! Their early bird meals are excellent and well priced, mussels in wine are to die for and their dinner & a movie is a great deal! And do not forget their happy hour...great food and drinks! It can get quite busy so reservations are recommended. However busy it gets, the staff and service remains very good, friendly and efficient. Teamwork is excellent...everyone helps each other and they work well under pressure. We got to meet Claudia, the manager, and she is a gem...very friendly, efficient and accommodating to all the guests.
One cannot go wrong ordering anything on their menu but since we are partial to seafood, we love their mussels (when in season) and their grouper fillet. Wouldn't be surprised if we came back once more before leaving Aruba!
Masha danki, hopi dushi cuminda, te aworo!
Worst dinner ever. Frozen flash fried oily vegetables that tasted freezer burned. My wife is a vegetarian and had dry Tempeh. Steak was the worst I have ever eaten. Gray in color and fatty. Just awful..Server never asked about our meal and just tossed our check at us at the end. RUDE!! Avoid
We went by the restaurant on the way to our hotel and looked it up on trip advisor. It sounded ok so we thought we'd try. Well it was great! the server, Fergie, was wonderful. They had a nice selection of Belgium beers and on Fergies recommendation my husband tried two and enjoyed both. My husband and I shared a beet and goat cheese salad which was delicious. My son had the Schnitzel and my daughter the Pasta Carbonara with chicken which they both enjoyed. My daughter had the waffles with strawberries and ice cream for dessert and she was not disappointed. Everyone in the restaurant was friendly and attentive. They also serve breakfast and lunch but unfortunately our schedule didn't allow us to go back but next time in Aruba it is on our list of places to visit.
Very disappointed. We visit this restaurant often when we are in Aruba. They got a new chef about a year ago and it has not been the same. We keep giving it a try in the hopes it will get better but no such luck. The service is awful and the food is never cooked correctly. Sadly we will not be returning during our next visit.
Very friendly and considerate service. Many vegan and vegetarian options. Early bird dinner option and happy hour for drinks. Addressed all questions and concerns. Very tasty food. Overall, very satisfied with restaurant experience!
Hi CL1025, Thank you for leaving us a review! Much appreciated! We hope to see you back soon!
Food good enough to just not be hungry after. Our server seemed absent minded. Drinks came unreasonably late. Place had like 3 tables occupied when we got there. Food took it's time too. As a kicker my beer came after we had finished all our plates and were getting ready to ask for check.
Came in for dessert only and the service and menu offerings where superb. We will definitely need to come back before we leave the island.
Service was island speed, so for me a little slow had to ask waiter to fill water glasses. Cocktails were enjoyed especially the mojito was very good.
My wife and daughter enjoyed the pasta dishes and thought they were excellent. My seared grouper was subpar and my son was disappointed with the beef stew Belgian style
Always a good place to go in Aruba. I had the Grouper, which was a full filet along with mash potatoes and vegetables. My wife had a filet topped with a blue cheese cotton. Both were very good. Of, don’t miss happy hour. A nice Belgian beer selection. Plus, beer and wine are half price during happy hour.
Delicious Food with good service. So good we returned for the Belgian Waffles for breakfast the next day.
Good restaurant food was tasty but as has been the theme in Aruba the prices are too high.
Had the salmon and white asparagus. Delicious !! Highly recommend the raspberry bier!! Second time there and will go back.
The food and service at the Sunday Brunch are outstanding. Don't be fooled by the small plates, you'll need to pace yourself. All plates we had were wonderfully prepared and presented. Very attentive service too, some of the best we've experienced in Aruba. The only downside was a very noisy table of four that were very disruptive to all in the room.
Singer did not sound like Frank Sinatra as billed, overpriced for a voice that was off key & flat. Food was tasteless & we sent special dishes back. Very disappointed & the only meal on the Island we could not eat. Owner did not think to compensate with dessert.
Seafood was great, also had traditional entree which was outstanding
Bad food, bad chef. Ignore descriptions in the menu. Many ingridients are missing from actual entries and instead dishes are loaded with melted cheese. No taste at all.
I think it’s a hidden gem.
Belgian food and beer on a Dutch island.
Taste of Belgium is one of our favorite dinner spots on the island. The menu is good and varied. The food, itself, is delicious. The service tends to be slow, but this trip was worse than usual. We will try it again and hope their service improves.
Really good food for Aruba!
A nice place for a casual lunch or dinner.
Great service and food for the best price around. The Grouper was the best i’ve tasted compared to places nearby. You also can’t be the 50% off all drinks. The beers were perfect for the price!
The food was absolutely amazing. The Seafood was seasoned perfectly. I had the sugar waffle for dessert, one of the best that I have has. I would visit this hidden gem if you are visiting Aruba.
Early bird very enjoyable so sorry they ran out of Stella Artois beer!
We had a delicious dinner with great Belgian beer. Service was very good and everyone in our party was very pleaed. Highly recommend
This was our first time at Taste of Belgium, the Belgian beer list was amazing and the wait staff were knowledgeable about the tastes of the beers. Food was prepared well seasoned nicely, the med rare rib eye came out on a sizzling platter by the time I could eat the steak it was med or more. Able to find vegetarian options which was a plus. Overall a nice experience
Our first dinner off property but we always enjoy dining here whenever in aruba! Extensive menu with reasonable prices with many specials. We decided to do early special and had tomato meatball soup, grouper filet en papilotte and creme brulee. We added their famous belgium mussels in beer as an extra appetizer. Everything was very good, food was fresh and delicious, Mabely, our server, was patient, friendly and attentive, the restaurant was clean, well decorated and inviting! We look forward to returning for another delicious meal!
