The food was delicious but I was horrified that they charged $5 for 4 slices if bread, and worse yet, we ordered burrata and pate and they wouldnt give us toasts or bread slices to eat with it we had to pay for bread to eat with our appetizers!!!

The restaurant it self has a little bit of a cold feel to it, but manageable. I have to say service is great, the waiters are very friendly and nice to talk to. Food is great especially the entree, duck breast and scallops were perfect. Apps were ok not too exciting, I was looking forward to the bone marrow but was really disappointed when it was extremely over salted, what a shame! Over all good experience.

We ordered the $69 18-oz dry-aged ribeye to share as they recommended. More than 1/3 of the ribeye that they sent out was just pure fat hanging off the ribeye. If they had cut the fat off before cooking, the ribeye wouldn't have been more than 12oz to begin with. We told the server and the manager about the ribeye and they said that was normal. We looked at other tables who ordered the ribeye and saw that this wasn't the case, but they didn't try to fix things.

Service was also extremely slow. Good bread though. You can do better in SF.

The food was fine but the service was a bit bumpy. Our waiter was great, this is not about him. It took a long time to get our drinks. Then it took a while to get our flatbread, which was OK because we hadn't gotten our hummus yet.

Then my boyfriend's food came at least half an hour before mine. It was his birthday so I guess it's good that he got his first but it was mystifying and annoying.

We were sitting next to the kitchen and it seemed like they weren't exactly scrambling, at one point three people were standing around watching someone else wipe the edges of a plate. The waiter apologized (without us saying anything) and made it right with the check, but this is a pretty big problem. Was it because we were using a gift card?

Food was even better than expected. Went with 6 other people and ordered a bunch of dishes to share. Was reasonably priced and fresh ingredients! The pork ribs were a favorite and the 3 leches cake was amazing! I highly recommend.

Everyone from the host, server and runners were so lovely and fun. Our favorite dish was the wild mushroom Tartine. We were wary that dinner would be special enough since the yelp reviews mostly featured brunch, but it was gorgeously lit and felt right.

Went here with my husband for his birthday because we’d heard such great things. Unfortunately we must have gone on an off night. Our server was disinterested if I’m being kind; rude and openly pouty about having to be at work if I’m being blunt. My heart goes out to her if her working environment is hostile for whatever reason, but setting that aside, her attitude did not make me feel great about spending a ton of money on a nice meal. Speaking of which: I’m sad to say that our meal was disappointing with two exceptions: the bread was unsurprisingly amazing, and the short ribs were delish. But our salad (little gem lettuce with pomegranate seeds and some other stuff I can’t even remember) was unmemorable and the chicken was egregiously overdone — I was surprised they even served it to us. We barely touched it, and the server didn’t care to ask us if there was something wrong with it. Bummer!

I had lunch last year with a friend and I thought the lamb and porchetta sandwiches were too greasy. The bottom bun is soggy from all the oil on both sandwiches. The appetizers were just okay. I wanted to give them another try, so 4 of us went for dinner this past week. The 4 appetizers were heavy on the bread and very greasy. The odd thing is that the chicken liver pate came without anything to put it on i.e. bread, crackers. The entrees were nothing to write home about, especially the half chicken-flavorless. The homemade pasta with lamb ragu was not al dente and the sauce on the pasta was weird and soupy with the ragu and ricotta on top. The shared steak came with tons of purple potatoes and hedgehog mushrooms drenched in oil. Why all the oil? We will not be back.

Delicious food , creative appetizers, nice presentation. However, entries priced too high for the size you will get. Wine list is extensive but prices doesn’t correlate with a quality.

This is one of my favorite new SF restaurants. The combination of excellent food, enticing atmosphere and not too high of a noise level make it worth repeating. If I want a socially lively venue but actually want to hear what my friends are saying at the dinner table, this is the place to go. I love the celebration of bread at this place (featured in combination with various spread options), and the chicken is one of my favorite items on the menu - crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside and served with perfectly complementary items. It can be too much to eat of you also get an appetizer or if you want dessert, but I just take the remainder home.
I'd like to see this place bring back a dessert they had early on -- some sort of Rocky Road-like combination of ice cream and other items covered by a thin, hard chocolate coating. It looked like a chocolate mound and was a great, shareable dessert. It was one of those things that could and should become a signature item of the restaurant, and I hope they bring it back into rotation.
The service is reliably good, though at this last visit it felt like my friend and I were overstaying our welcome with various not-so-subtle hints encouraging us to pay and go. It didn't stop us from conversing and enjoying ourselves!

As would be expected, the bread was spectacular. Crunchy crust, soft, pillows of bread so sour it makes your lips pucker. However, only 3 pieces of bread for the two of us to share for $5? It seemed unnecessarily skimpy. The rest of the meal was good but didn't wow me. The presentation was not special. Overall, I did not think the food warranted the high prices. A modest meal for two with one glass of wine was $100.

We went with out of town friends to an early (5:30) dinner so we could make a Noir Film Festival 7:30 showing at the Castro. Service was great and we had plenty of time to have a leisurely dinner and still make the movies. The food was truly inventive and delicious. The "raspberry float" cocktail was really different and also delicious - and very refreshing appearing. If you are driving you will need very excellent parking Karma to find a spot nearby; worth the effort though.

Lovely ambiance and menu. Service was bizarre from the unfriendly bartender who didn’t make eye contact till after 15 mins of us standing by the bar (even though the bar and resto was not busy and it was a mellow night) to our waiter at the table who didn’t explain the menu much and at the end gave us a check quickly without asking about dessert or coffee. The restaurant was more than half empty so there was no explanation for this behavior. In short, service didn’t match the food and left us puzzled.

We've routinely gone to the first Tartine bakery & loved the baked goods & tried Bar Tartine and did not like it as much as we wanted to but Tartine Manufacturing was a delight. Our favorite dish was their Hamachi crudo with its inventive combination of kiwi, mint, leek and cilantro that seemed really bizarre but was unbelievable. Bread was of course amazing & we ate our way into the hand sucked beans... It was a memorable meal. I would definitely go back & bring others.

We shared a meal of chicory salad with creamy walnut dressing (yum), squash soup, a wild mushroom tartine and last but not least a sunchoke dish--it was all so delicious and too much food for two happy diners. But half the tartine order and sunchokes were delicious for lunch the next day. The dining room is rather loud but what a wonderful meal. We will be back!

I've been to Tartine Manufactory at least half a dozen times now for dinner and even more if you consider my daytime visits. My fiance and I love the atmosphere here. It's casual in the sense that you don't have to dress a certain way, keep your conversation to a whisper, or care which fork you use when. But casual does not mean it's not fine dining. The service is top notch without being stuffy and the food is simply amazing.

We have been a huge fan of their bakery for a long while and have enjoyed their books. Their dinner service has not disappointed. They bring the same level of care to the food that they serve as they do for their baked goods. Their dish sizes are perfect for a nice individual meal or perfect for sharing. It's our favorite to order a few of their wonderful mostly local and seasonal dishes to share while enjoying some of their fantastic wines or cocktails.

We were lucky to have our favorite dessert on the menu when we were there this last time, their lemon ginger ice cream pie. Recently named the dessert of the year by Bon Appetite. You can sometime get this pie during the day but they add a special meringue on top for dinner. Simply put, Tartine Manufactory was not named one of the best new restaurants for no reason. I highly recommend it!

Something is wrong when the waiter ask you how hungry are you and tells you that the dishes are really small. It was five dollars for three pieces of French bread and if we would have more, it would be another order. Although the food was very good, the portions were very small. For just two of us, and I had a glass of wine, the tab came up to $80. As a native, there are many other places in San Francisco to enjoy. I doubt if I will come back to this place. Thank you.

The menu didn't explain the dishes accurately. My salad contained a major ingredient not noted and the main course had a different starch than listed. The small plates provided for the shared entree were way to small to cut and eat a breast quarter of a chicken. I won't go back.

We enjoyed seeing the latest addition to the SF Tartine scene. Hip space, but on the loud side for us. Good food but some items were pricy. Service was efficient to the point that we wondered whether they just wanted the table back, although we were not exactly lingering on a quiet Sunday night. Basically, I think we prefer the controlled chaos of the bakery in the Mission.

We had a really good dinner here. Instead of the normal dinner setup, we decided to get 5 small plates and taste a variety of foods. Burrata was good but did not shine as much as I had hoped. The Nduja was a surprise winner. Spicy, but not so hot you could not taste everything else. A well balanced dish. The Halibut Crudo was my wife's favorite. We also had the steak tartare which was solid and a good choice. Also had the Pork ribs which were excellent. Also, the wine list was very reasonably priced. Excellent wines that are not much more than normal price. have fun and pick out a nice bottle

Came here with a couple friends for to grab a drink and a few shareable small plates. Food was outstanding. The only exception was the unagi Smorrbrod. I like unagi but something about the other bread toppers didn't quite mesh with our palettes. The halibut crudo was phenomenal. Steak Tartare was also delicious. The burrata goes perfectly with their bread and butter. I would surely come back again.

It's an attractive space, with good service in the restaurant. The food is a little trendy and expensive for what you get. My salad contained so much pepper, it was difficult to eat. The chicken was pretty ordinary and not especially tasty. The ragout was excellent, however. Our bill for two, with one glass of wine shared between the two of us, came to over $100 and we did not feel we got a dining experience worth that much money. My wife had gone for lunch, when they have the bakery open, and had found that to be a better value.

Unfortunately we received little guidance from our waitress and probably ordered poorly. We started with a steak tartare which was excellent however was quite acidic (which is fine) followed by a little gem salad which was also extremely acidic and this clash just tarnished the rest of the meal.
We really wanted to like the restaurant however the lack of guidance and interest from our waitress tarnished the experience.
