Tartine Manufactory is a multi-faceted food and beverage venue featuring a restaurant, beer & wine bar, ice cream shop, bakery and coffee bar. Tartine Manufactory in the Mission is a huge operation with excellent pastries, coffee, and ice cream, and dinner as well.

Ratings 8.0-8.5:The best way to think about restaurants in the low to mid 8′s is that these are the places you would absolutely go back to, anytime. These restaurants are ones that you want to bring a friend to, just so they can also experience the duck carnitas, or burger, or whatever dish the place is known for.

My daughter so excited to try the place out who’s from NYC , not too impress with the food. The scallops way too expensive for 3 medium size scallops. The service and food is okay.

Tartine is a favorite SF restaurant, and the menu changes frequently and features the best seasonal selections. For dinner we enjoyed the potato-leek soup, halibut crudo and citrus, avocado, beets and goat cheese. The county bread is the best and at lunch the choice of pastries is wonderful. The only dish that was not great was the spaghetti with walnut pesto. Too much sauce and missing the snap peas. The wine list is very extensive and excellent. Bravo Tartine!

Of course the bread was fantastic, but we also find the appetizers, salads and entrees to all be creative and flavorful. They encourage a family style dining experience which totally worked as between 6 of us we were able to try 9-10 things. Highly recommend it.

Server was terrible. I’d tell you his name but I don’t think he ever introduced himself. He may have spoken 5 words during our entire visit. It was difficult to even flag him down to order additional food or beverages.

Shared the fish crudo and beef tongue with a friend. Needed bread to sop up the sauce, so flavorful. We each had the lemon kombacha, which was so yummy. Service was awesome, water was topped off all the time. Chocolate souffle was not really souffle, more like-yummy chocolate ganache, totally will satisfy your chocolate craving.

Food was very interesting and well prepared. Some of the most interesting flavors I have experienced in a SF restaurant. Some real issues with the hostess (front of the house) however. She was rude and condescending and clearly disorganized. Despite having a reservation that was made weeks in advance, had to wait nearly 30 minutes for our table despite multiple tables being unoccupied. Once the table had been cleared and set, she was unapologetic and simply " pointed" us to the table, never properly seating us or showing even the most remote indication of a welcoming attitude. Absolutely unacceptable in a city where there are so many choices that serve food of equal quality. I had brought a guest of mine from another city and was embarrassed at the treatment we were given. Clearly, will never consider bringing another guest to this establishment unless they get their act together and hire a warm decent human being to be their first impression.

This is definitely our current favorite restaurant in San Fransisco. The food is always incredibly tasty and the menu varies on a regular basis. It can be hard to get in but it is definitely worth the effort!

I was very excited about coming to Tartine for dinner. Straight away ordered the bread & butter and then our server walked us through the menu, which was helpful because not completely self explanatory. We ordered the white bean dip & nduja, both of which, along with everything else in that section, he explained came on bread. Not true. The nduja did come on a dark rye but the dip came in a bowl, with nothing to eat it with. No matter, he said he’d bring more bread but then basically brought out another full order of the very thick cut bread & butter we’d already consumed! And not “on the house.” How else are you meant to eat the dip?? Why didn’t he explain that when we ordered it? Why doesn’t the dip just come with some easier to eat pieces of bread, like the nduja? In the end, the bread was too filling; we had to cancel one of our dishes which he tried to make us feel guilty about.
On the flip side, the potato soup and the carrot salad were tasty. Would I go back tho? Probably not.

Incredible meal—innovative, delicious, memorable. Highlights: the beef tartare, bone marrow, asparagus, and tagliatelle. (Each of those is much more interesting than it sounds in my words.)

Very cool urban environment with uniquely and creatively prepared dishes. Food was excellent and unusual, but not weird. Exceptional care with taste and texture combinations of the food elements. Very nice surprise to happen upon in what I assumed to be a "non-foody" neighborhood. Boy was I wrong. I will be back!

The savory options were wonderful. It is really all about the bread! We kept ordering extra bread to mop up all the delicious sauces in each of the dishes. Only disappointment was dessert... how can Tartine do dessert wrong??? There was tres leches, no thank you, chocolate cake which we ordered but was mediocre, a peanut butter and jelly option.. WHY??? That's what I had to eat for lunch in grade school. No upscale restaurant should have peanut butter in their desserts and last but not least chocolate and vanilla ice cream which we ordered late because the cake needed it, but the vanilla was truly awful tasting. Why not add some lovely tarts or pastries to the dessert menu? Please!

We live in the neighborhood and have been coming here since they opened.
I will not be coming back. Only for pastries and treats.
The dinner was a disappointment.
The chicken was room temperature along with the Brussels sprouts. It was like everything was pre-cooked.
My wife’s scallops were raw in the middle and her dinner plate was cold also.
I guess their relying on reputation.

First, I have to say that I came to dinner at Tartine already convinced that I would love it. I have been learning to make my own sourdough using the Tartine Bread book as a guide for years, and coming to the restaurant was a kind of pilgrimage. It did not disappoint me. The bread was perfectly crunchy on the outside and moist and fluffy on the inside and served with delightfully salted butter - my only complaint was that there wasn't more. Each dish was balanced and delicious. My favorite was sunchoke, maitake mushroom, and chestnut - a vegan dish with a creamy chestnut base and perfectly seasoned and crunchy sunchokes. The service was fantastic - our waitress was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. It was an absolutely incredible night of food that I can't recommend enough.

We had very high expectations for this restaurant and we were not disappointed. The service was helpful, but never intrusive. The is unique, beautifully presented and delicious. We were a large group and ordered multiple items. Every single dish was wonderful. The ambience is energetic and fun. A great place for friends to gather. An especially good location if you're headed to a performance at Noh Space or Project Artaud.

It was a very pleasant restaurant. Casual yet upbeat. Great industrial looking decor.

It was hard to figure out what to order. Without the help of pictures from yelp, it’s hard to know what a particular dish is.

Food was great, although somewhat pricey. But not enough to deter me from going back.

Nice place for a date or to meet with friends.
