Book your next event with us
Welcoming and warm atmosphere
Food hit the spot and had subtle and delicious flavor
Tagliatelle with chanterelle mushrooms were wonderful
Quail was so tender and juicy, hard to do with such a tiny bird but they did it
Butter beans with Savoy cabbage yummy
Cocktails complex and layered flavors
Tres leches cake was good but I prefer the coconut at the bakery
Service was very good, our waitress was working hard
Fun, interesting food at this collaboration pop up. Please do more!
Most delicious collaboration (iMMixTartine) dinner!!! Thank you!
Dinner here was a disappointment, which is truly a shame.
I've dined here several times and Tartine failed to live up to its reputation. Upon arrival, the host was nowhere in sight, other employees made eye contact, but did not greet or acknowledge our presence leaving us to wait 8mins before being seated once the hostess returned to her post. The table was near the expo station lacking a feeling of intimacy and it was a surprise, as a two top, not to be seated in the main room. The service was rushed, the food was not coursed out making the table feel crowded and awkward. The appetizers came before the cocktails (or bread), and throughout the meal we had to stack plates and consolidate to make room each time another dish arrived. I was marked twice with silverware and it was not cleared until after I requested it be removed from the table. I shared feedback with the server about the Steak Tartare being too salty to eat. He said "okay" and removed it from the table. He did not apologize or offer to take it off the bill or re-fire / send us another one instead. Also, the Tagliatelle dish missed the mark. The pasta was undercooked, stiff, and unpleasant to eat, at which point, we discussed leaving to order an entree and dessert elsewhere to finish our meal. We skipped ordering an entree, ordered dessert - a lackluster sundae for $9 - and left having any excitement for this birthday celebration snuffed out. Friends asked how was dinner to which we replied with a sigh and a story that was anything but flattering. Given the opportunity I would not return to Tartine Manufactory. In the future, I plan to take my business elsewhere. I know there's a new chef, but the service, the food, and the value did not align with my (or my girlfriend's) expectations both being long-time locals and supporters of all things Tartine.
I'll leave you with two questions: 1) how will you make the necessary changes and 2) how would you win our business back??
The hostess was wonderful in every way. Our water rushed us, brought our entree when we were in the middle of our appetizer and ignored our request to keep our entree warm while we enjoyed the perfect tart. Our entree was cold and unappetizing. The waiter complained when we asked for tea.
Sigh. This place continues to live on the name "Tartine." I think the food is good/great depending on the evening and what you order. It's the service that remains consistently abysmal. When we walked in, no maitre d. We waited and waited. Not a good sign, but then, I wasn't surprised given my previous visits. Finally, someone appeared and he gave me this painful look. No "Hello" or "Good evening." His opening statement: "Do you have a reservation?" Oh well. It might get better, right? This night, I had the ceviche and it was quite good - loved the textures and flavors; tasted very fresh. My companion had the tagliatelle and judged it as "good." For the entree, I had the black cod - what a great piece of fish; velvety smooth, nice texture and it was cooked fine. My companion had the New York steak; it came as ordered (medium); and he thought it was "great." I think it's silly to pay for two orders of bread, but hey, it's their restaurant. But, I rarely go so it's a non-issue. Service was painfully s-l-o-w on this visit and on previous visits (which is why I hadn't returned in about a year). The entree took forever to arrive at the table and when I asked the primary waitperson, he provided a non-answer. When the manager came by (and I assumed the waitperson had apprised him of the issue), the manager's feedback was also non-reponsive and unhelpful. But, no matter. That was likely my last visit to Tartine Manufactory. Someone will let me know when their service improves. Lastly, I find the dining room a bit too cramped - the tables are much too close together. And, the place is loud. If you're planning to have a normal-volume conversation, forget it.
The menu was very limited. Even some of the more popular items from menu was not available. Some food quality and quantity was not reasonable for the price including rabbit sausage lasagna.
After the theater dinner.
Limited menu but most things are very tasty, especially bread or pasta items. Desserts are very good, becuase Tartine after all started as a pastry shop.
Needed a bit more butter for the $6.50 order of bread & were charged for a side of butter! We dine out more than we cook, and this was a first! Seems to me if you spend over $200 on a meal a party of 2, they’d throw in the extra butter ...
Food was so-so for dinner. Wine was served warm
The food itself was okay. But the amount given for the price was appalling. I ordered roasted chicken for $36 and expected at least a half chicken. Instead, I got a piece of chicken the size of a playing card plus one wing. This might have been okay if food had sent you to Nirvana, but it was really just average.
Food was good. They were out of one of the drinks and one of the mains we ordered. Wine we ordered tasted like vinegar and manager told us that’s just how it tastes and that it was a good bottle. Hard to believe that.
Ford is so wonderful.
Food (and bread) was awesome!! Hostess was a little short with us...
Food was fine, but wasn’t the price.
The chicken was amazing and of course the bread is always good.
Food was delicious, bread didn’t quite live up to the hype.
Service was almost too fast, to the point where we kinda felt rushed.
I left a jacket there. Is there anyway to contact then through here?
Food was great. The lighting in the restaurant is poor. Service is always a bit unprofessional.
Great food and atmosphere! Would definitely go again!!
Nice place and very good service but the food was subpar. $36 for an overcooked and tiny chicken leg and a small piece of chicken breast (not the whole breast) sitting on a pile of over salted nearly inedible potatoes. Theme continued in the fish dishes. Small piece of cod on a pile of red cabbage. Maybe tartine should stick to breakfast. They didn’t even give us bread // we had to ask and pay for it. Too many good choices in town to go back here
Well thought out dishes along side the best bread.
Excellent food. A bit overpriced. We spent $13.00 on bread!
Our last San Francisco meal before heading to the airport. Loved it. Large portions and delicious. Butter beans were stellar. We bought loaves of bread also. Only complaint is that the retail loaves were on the food bill and didn’t realize we tipped on them until later. They really should separate retail from food on the bill.
Perfect after work drink & appetizer menu. Waitress was adorable!
Great meal. Halibut ceviche was fresh and nice spices. Escalivada beet salad was perfect appetizer. Highly recommend the black cod entree. Finished off with the banana cream tart
Amazing food and great atmosphere. We came for a super early dinner which was great because we had leftover morning croissants as an appetizer and had fast and easy service before it got crowded. The rabbit lasagna and beef tartare were stupendous. Also the cocktails were unreal!
Loved it! The food was delicious. Very unique flavors. The bread as a starter, the avocado appetizer and beet hummus are a must! Cannot wait to go back.
Excellent. I had the most delicious gazpacho ever! ...and a dandy old-fashion. Super wait staff, friendly and helpful. "Front desk" was a little sketchy. No one was there for quite a while when I got there (on time for a 7:30 rest. Then he was glued to the tech system.
An old friend was in town and we wanted to get together to celebrate a birthday. The concierge at the Virgin Hotel recommended the Tartine Manufactory to her, so I made a reservation. Even at 8pm on a Sunday night, this was a 'happinin' place, but the staff was extremely friendly and attentive and the food all delicious (though a number of our choices were unavailable.) The chef is trying to do interesting things with fresh ingredients and it works. It is an open space with high ceilings and so its a bit noisy, but if that's not a concern, this is an easy recommendation. Will definitely be back!
The service was truly awful. Plates remained uncleared for nearly 30 minutes. We decided to not order entrees as our server was nowhere to be found and inattentive for most of the meal. Also in general the server was extremely rude
Love Tartine Manufactory!
Food was excellent. Service was just OK. Pacing of the food and drinks was very, very slow. Our server would disappear for long periods of time. Had to flag her down several times as she would walk past us to and from other tables without acknowledgement. The bussing staff was very thorough. Food runners would drop food without explanation of what it was.
The bread a+
The salad very good
The prawns 3 only for 33$??? And they were over cooked
Very disappointed overall not worth my friends birthday treat
While server was great, and cocktail service was terrific, overall the experience was underwhelming. The $14—$17 cocktails (imaginative & tasty) are served with a giant ice cube, so what looks like a great deal is actually not so great. Wine by the glass prices are very pricey. Food took FOREVER to arrive, and when it did, some of it was cold, not even warm. We had heard rave reviews, but our experience wouldn't even rate a recommendation.
Awesome bread! Interesting menu that changes every month
We enjoyed our meal with a few exceptions. We weren’t seated until 15 minutes plus after our reservation. We had a prearranged fixed price menu but we weren’t served anything but bread and butter until well after one hour of our reservation time. When we asked for more to hold us over until the appetizers, we found out later that we’d been charged $20 for the extra servings.
It was a busy night. So service was a bit slow. The food was amazing. It was also very loud.
Was the perfect example of “meh” in every aspect performed to perfection.
