Appetizer was forgotten and every order was very different than what we have had in the past. Very oily pasta dishes and full of pancetta. Very disappointed
We went for Restaurant Week, was valuable! Portions of each dish are reasonable.
We had a very good late dinner, easting salad, pasta and eggplant parmigiana rather than a heavier entrée. Service was very pleasant at a corner table where noise was bearable.
The menu is extensive -- many dishes use pork as an ingredient.
Restaurant week was wonderful. We had the bucatini and the skate. Both were memorable for the best reasons.
Good food , good service . Inconsistent food .
Good food and place as an overall . We expected more considering the ownership and the famous Chief . The wine is very expensive for the quality .
Table crowded, service harried and dishes disappointing. Dry pasta salty veal heavily breaded. Everything premade so could not be changed
had the ribeye for 2--the best steak ever
We are never disappointed by the quality of the food or the wonderful service ( especially Mark Avila’s) who treats us like royalty. Tarrylodge is one of our top dining venues in Westchester. A place not to be missed!!!
It took 4 attempts before we found a
table that was satisfactory
Indifferent attitude from Maitre D was
Their excuse was it was Saturday night
Maybe they should think twice before
asking people to sit in ridiculously small
or uncomfortable tables
Sat at the bar and enjoyed the Tarry platter and some drinks. Great experience.
Food was fine. Service was fine. Water didn't taste right. Thats a pretty basic mistake
You can't order a bad meal - everything on the menu will please the most discerning diner.
The food and service is always phenomenal!
definitely not the restaurant it use to be as far as quality. The menu is old and tired and the food
reflects this. The Tarry Market is better for a bite to eat
The dining rooms are comfortable and beautifully maintained with the wood and tile.
The food is always superior to most Italian restaurants in the area and the wait staff is always helpful, and friendly.
To tarry at Tarry Lodge, ah, life's simple pleasures. A perfect cocktail, a glass of wine, burrata atop a creative slaw of greens, cabbage and roasted winter vegetables, and a margarita pizza...all enjoyed at the white marble bar watching an expert barman confidently mix cocktails and answer questions.
When we arrived at 5:30 pm on Sunday, there were many tables available. However we were seated directly next to the door to the bathroom. I think a better table could have been offered to us. We didn’t realize it until people started using the facility. It made an otherwise wonderful dinner, quite unpleasant, especially when there were many other tables open.
Great evening. Unhurried but not neglected.
Sommelier advice appreciated.
food was terrific, and service was outstanding, we will return!!
A repeat visit, first time for lunch. It appears to be overlooked for lunch since it was empty and we had no problem changing our reservation to an earlier time. Food and service lived up to prior experiences. With a couple of courses, a glass of wine and possibly a cocktail it becomes an expensive lunch, but for anyone who wants to experience it and gets shut out at dinner, go to lunch.
Great food and service. Acoustics are terrible. Very loud . Could not hear anything my guests were saying . Left feeling that I had just been to a loud rock concert.
This is by far the best Tarry Lodge out of all the locations. The ambiance makes you feel swanky. The service is amazing. They offer a special for guests that are also attending a show at the Capitol Theater - either two drinks from a list or 2 appetizers as long as you're purchasing a pizza, pasta or meal. You can't beat it. We always go for the apps since we like to indulge in a bottle of wine from their extensive Italian wine list (By the way, the Sommelier's on staff are very knowledgeable and helpful). This time we got the shrimp app and the crab app. The crab was stuffed into piquillo peppers and was delicious; a great balance of briny and sweet. And the shrimp was done with roasted delicata squash and grapefruit with just the right amount of heat. Then we split the homemade black fettuccine with shrimp and guanciale. This had a light sauce (nothing creamy) and again, just the right amount of heat to cut the fat of the guanciale. And finally for dinner, we were lucky enough to be there on a Tuesday night, to get the Porchetta. It was the best Porchetta I have ever had (please don't tell my Uncle Jimmy). The pork belly was crisp, followed by a delicious layer of chorizo and then the soft tenderloin. Wow. We always enjoy coming here and are never disappointed. It is one of our favorite places and each time we go, they get better and better!
We all enjoyed our selections - specialty cocktail was delicious , branzino prepared well, good salads - a very nice night celebrating two birthdays - service slow
It was Valentine’s Day and unfortunately the meal/night wasn’t as expected. We ordered a salad and prosciutto which were both good, but when we ordered our dinner I told the waitress I had a but allergy and she proceeded to tell me I could split the swords
Entrees all came out at different times and food was not great.
We had a great meal, as usual. Pepperoni pizza, eggplant parm, salmon with parsnips and sunchokes, and a special of bucatini with lamb ragu were all excellent. Wines are generally pricey; we had a “lower-priced” Brunello at $95, which was nice but nothing special. Our table (which was clearly a 2-top made into a 3-top) was wedged in at the top of a set of stairs- I was a little bit afraid that my son’s chair was going to topple off the top stair. Service was friendly and efficient. Overall, a very nice Friday night dinner.
Tarry Lodge our fourth special occasion dinner in February folks from US (all over), England, and Australia .
We went from original seven and then up to ELEVEN. But Tarry Lodge came thru an accommodated us.....Dinner was wonderful, waiter make excellent suggestions, and we loved our adult beverages.
Hoping to do brunch next Sunday the 18th....
My only complaint is that while service is attentive during the meal, once the check has been paid the wait staff act as if you no longer exist. They could be friendlier and say thanks, see you again, etc. Instead, they're "on to the next one"......
Tarry Lodge never disappoints. I brought two friends from out of town and they LOVED it! Especially the lamb, wine and amazing service. Keep up the good work! It is our go to restaurant that is always delicious with attentive, friendly staff.
Great to have valet parking, timely seating, great service and great food.
I had the lamb shop special with risotto and beets and it was excellent. We will be back!
It was overpriced and food wasn’t great
Food not up to expectations. Lacks sophistication and creativity. It was my second time at the restaurant; very disappointed with my first visit with the eggplant parmigiana.
Great place for "italian comfort food". Antipasti & Pasta & Pizza are of great quality and still reasonable prices, the selection of main courses (esp. on the fish side) could be a little broader. Lamb shanks very perfectly cooked, juicy inside, nice crusty outside. Branzino as a whole was ok, fish would not mind a bit of further flavoring & spices and so do the potatoes coming with the fish was well. Great place also for the entire family!
Food and service were improved since a noticeable decline in the past year. Still overpriced and noisy though.
We hadn’t been back to Tarry Lodge in a couple of years and decided to give it another try. In the past we have found the menu limited and the kitchen unable to accommodate requests. On a cold wintry night, the restaurant was cozy and warm. The hostess and waiter service were terrific. The focaccia with dipping oil was delicious and we had some wine by the glass- one glass was big enough to share for us (not big drinkers). We ordered the chopped salami salad that was the best item we had. Delicious dressing and lots of goodies mixed in with iceberg lettuce. The buratta salad on top of greens with roasted toot vegetables was tasty. Salads are big and we could have shared. Unfortunately, the entrees were disappointing. My black fettuccine pasta with shrimp was tasteless. I was so surprised as we came for some delicious pasta. My husband’s pork chop was dry and over cooked and unseasoned. A real let down. In the future, I think this is a salad and pizza sort of place while sitting at the bar.
Tarry Lodge is always perfect. It feels cozy like a local place yet has the Mario Battali perfection in both food, presentation and service!
Excellent eggplant parmigiana! Beautiful presentation. Helpful staff.
Second consecutive year for my son's birthday. Everyone had a great meal!
Went here for a quick meal before going to a movie. Service was fast and responsive. Food was excellent. I had the Rigatoni and my girlfriend got the Pollo Francese. Both meals were extremely fresh tasting and satisfying. We didn't have time to stay for dessert but the options certainly sounded great. Price was reasonable for fine dining.
