Tarry Lodge Port Chester Ratings and Reviews
We had a great meal, as usual. Pepperoni pizza, eggplant parm, salmon with parsnips and sunchokes, and a special of bucatini with lamb ragu were all excellent. Wines are generally pricey; we had a “lower-priced” Brunello at $95, which was nice but nothing special. Our table (which was clearly a 2-top made into a 3-top) was wedged in at the top of a set of stairs- I was a little bit afraid that my son’s chair was going to topple off the top stair. Service was friendly and efficient. Overall, a very nice Friday night dinner.
Tarry Lodge our fourth special occasion dinner in February folks from US (all over), England, and Australia .
We went from original seven and then up to ELEVEN. But Tarry Lodge came thru an accommodated us.....Dinner was wonderful, waiter make excellent suggestions, and we loved our adult beverages.
Hoping to do brunch next Sunday the 18th....
Great place for "italian comfort food". Antipasti & Pasta & Pizza are of great quality and still reasonable prices, the selection of main courses (esp. on the fish side) could be a little broader. Lamb shanks very perfectly cooked, juicy inside, nice crusty outside. Branzino as a whole was ok, fish would not mind a bit of further flavoring & spices and so do the potatoes coming with the fish was well. Great place also for the entire family!
We hadn’t been back to Tarry Lodge in a couple of years and decided to give it another try. In the past we have found the menu limited and the kitchen unable to accommodate requests. On a cold wintry night, the restaurant was cozy and warm. The hostess and waiter service were terrific. The focaccia with dipping oil was delicious and we had some wine by the glass- one glass was big enough to share for us (not big drinkers). We ordered the chopped salami salad that was the best item we had. Delicious dressing and lots of goodies mixed in with iceberg lettuce. The buratta salad on top of greens with roasted toot vegetables was tasty. Salads are big and we could have shared. Unfortunately, the entrees were disappointing. My black fettuccine pasta with shrimp was tasteless. I was so surprised as we came for some delicious pasta. My husband’s pork chop was dry and over cooked and unseasoned. A real let down. In the future, I think this is a salad and pizza sort of place while sitting at the bar.
Went here for a quick meal before going to a movie. Service was fast and responsive. Food was excellent. I had the Rigatoni and my girlfriend got the Pollo Francese. Both meals were extremely fresh tasting and satisfying. We didn't have time to stay for dessert but the options certainly sounded great. Price was reasonable for fine dining.
My family took me to dinner for my birthday, and a friend recommended Tarry Lodge. We loved it! The staff was amazing...very professional, friendly, and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious, expertly cooked and well presented. I would absolutely go back!
Consistently excellent food, portions are large enough for sharing. my wife and i love to create a 3 course meal sharing a pizza, a pasta, and an entree. Service was helpful and attentive without being obtrusive. Wine list would benefit from a few more value oriented choices of high quality, which are certainly available.
We brought friends from Colorado for dinner and had a wonderful time..the food and wait staff were just great and everyone enjoyed the evening from start to finish..the braised beef the waiter told us was a special that evening received major praise from the men at the table!!!!!!
Nice table on main floor. Waiter was ok. Not very attentive and they were not that busy on a Friday night in winter. Had very good Bastianich Rose for appetizers. Best part of meals here are apps and salads and pastas. Mains are just ok. Overall a pleasant night but not the WOW!! Meal it once was.
We waited 30 minutes after we placed our order for ONLY sides and salads. I had to ask for assistance.
This type of service occurred two years ago when I went - thought I would give them another chance (support your local businesses!).
I will never go back and will tell anyone who asks about the restaurant my experience(s).
We had a reservation and it took them 20 minutes to seat us. We waited at the bar where the bartender charged our card $14 for a club soda - no really. The manager was involved and the situation finally handled, but it was embarrassing and awkward. We were then offered a table next to the door after 20 minutes. Our server was excellent and the meal was well timed - its unfortunate it got off to such a rocky start.
Our annual Pre-New Years Eve tradition at Tarry Lodge is not a let down. We celebrate and enjoy the food and time together. Everything we eat is wonderful and over the top. The service was outstanding considering it's typically a crazy night for them. Thank you again.
The food is excellent. The grapefruit coctail is fabulous. we had reservations early in the day and there were only approximately 4 tables occupied on the 1st floor level yet we were seated at the first table beside the door on a freezing cold day. We asked if we could move and we're told all tables were reserved. I had a hard time hearing everyone at our table(group of 5) because the tables are so close and the next table was occupied and the 3 hostesses on the other side of us greeting diners and hanging coats beside us.
My wife took me on my birthday and it ended up being a special evening dining experience. We were immediately seated and waited by our server named Marc who took great care on our well being and answered any of our requests of the menu. Started off with 2 smooth cocktails followed by a sharing of a delicious Frisee salad with cranberry, walnuts and Gorgonzola . We both had fish dinners; my wife's being salmon and mine branzini both expertly prepared. We declined desert as we were both satisfied but am sure they would follow suit with rest of the meal...next time! Over all a wonderful experience and will return soon and recommend to our family and friends!
We had the spaghetti carbonara which was excellent. We had the rigatoni with sage pork which was pretty good. Carbonara was better. The fries salad was disappointing. Next time I’ll order the carbonara. Menu has changed since we were there last. Not so many choices on the menu. And bring some reading glasses with you. The menu is printed in a tiny font so you will need help reading it.
