We enjoy this place immensely!
Service from Sam was outstanding...
The dishes never disappoint either.
Love the salads and pizzas. Nice location for a business lunch!
Great food, great service. Portions were a little small for the appetizers but the food tasted outstanding. Nice wine selection. It was very busy even at 5 pm which is always a good sign of great food. We will be back!
Everything was very good!
The only problem was there wasn't a wine selection under $11 per glass, which drove the bill up considerably.
My wife and I have been enjoying the Tarry Lodge since it opened. We have been frequent diners over the years. This last visit they were definitely off their usually excellent game. We were seated promptly, but then didn’t speak to a wait staff for 20 minutes. We were never offered bread. The food was excellent, as always. Sadly, there has been a recent change in the restaurant’s corkage policy. The fee is now $40 per bottle. Previously, it had been much more reasonable.
We went to Tarry Lodge to reunite with some traveling buddies. Try pizza as an appetizer. We had the goat cheese and the burrata - both were delicious. Our server recommended a pasta/mushroom dish and it definitely lived up to it’s reputation. My husband tried the eggplant parm. It’s lighter than most but very delicious. We’ll return to Tarry Lodge soon
Top notch! The Boudreaux list is great and well priced. Mushroom pasta was exquisite and the soft serve olive oil twist ice creams are a lovely conclusion too a great meal. Service was prime. Can’t wait to go back
Good spot to get together with friends coming from different places.
We shared a tasty Margarita Pizza to start. I had the chopped romaine (no meat) salad as an entree, while one had the hangar steak and another pasta bolognese. We shared biscotti and the soft serve ice cream for dessert. It was all good.
The staff is very friendly and aims to please. Our waitress was a great balance of being on top of her game and giving us time to talk.
We like the downtown yet off Chapel St location.
We will likely meet here again.
While driving home to NY from Maine we luckily decided to stop at Tarry Lodge in New Haven. It was wonderful. Staff was pleasant, helpful and cared for our every need. We shared the goat cheese pizza it was delicious. Both of us had the eggplant parmigiana. The presentation was beautiful and the taste was out of this world. Wine was wonderful. Only problem was they didn’t have any rye whiskey. Well they did have one but it was vanilla flavored. Any serious rye drinker doesn’t want vanilla flavored rye.
Still rate it 10+
I tried to post the picture of the eggplant but a different one may show up
Great place to get together with friends for a nicer experience. We did the prefix menu. Get the eggplant parm, trust me!
Went for my birthday and I had a wonderful time. I can’t wait to come back.
Adrian is an awesome server and the food was great as usual. Salad with the Salumi and the hanger steak cooked perfect medium rare. Great evening.Don't hesitate to dine here.
This was a second visit to Tarry Lodge. The first experience was completely extraordinary, the second a little less so. The service was flawless both times, and my wife's branzino was rave worthy both times. The duck breast i had on my first visit was the best i've ever eaten. The pork chop Milanese I ordered on visit two looked amazing but needed just a touch of salt and it was a little tough. It was very good still but not great. We certainly will go back again and bring friends.
Especially attentive service; excellent food. Would recommend this restaurant with no reservations.
Another excellent experience at Tarry Lodge. It was the request from my wife for her birthday and it did not disappoint!
Great evening. Service was excellent. Appetizers- burrata and octopus were great. I had the pasta with mushrooms- excellent. Eggplant Parm equally as great. Really enjoyed the Desserts - ice cream and cheesecake. The server was on top of everything.
Excellent as usual !
The food was amazing from the appetizers to the dessert and their service was fantastic. We will definitely be back to try other dishes.
Tarry Lodge was an excellent option for my birthday dinner! The food was delicious, especially the seasonal squash & ricotta appetizer. Our server was fantastic, guiding us through dinner options and always making sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a great dinner out!
After ditching a wait for Pepe’s we came to Tarry Lodge and I am so happy that we did!!! Overall we had an exceptional experience from food — burrata and prosciutto pizza, mushroom pasta — to our service. Absolutely can’t wait to return!!!
Dinner was delicious (eggplant part) and so was the gorgonzola salad. Salad, entree, and dessert for $39 (the special) was not really a special, as purchasing these items separately would have been about the same price. If you opted for some of the other entrees, you would have overpaid with the special. But food and the waiter were great.
Love Tarry Lodge! Never a bad meal and enjoy the special dinners.
At first we were seated against a wall next to a large party- my husband could barely move-but the staff was very accommodating and moved us. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful and made great suggestions! He was great! Everything was delicious.
We enjoyed a delicious meal a couple of weeks ago at Tarry Lodge with our group of 7 people. Service was attentive, professional and it was nice to see the staff working together as we were a late table and other servers were not busy so they chipped in. The food was also authentic Italian. We did not order any pizza and had a number of entrees and everyone was pleased. I had the black fettuccini with shrimp and chorizo and it was a nice combination of flavors, very satisfying and generous serving. My wide had the eggplant parmigianna and she said it was the best she ever had. Steak and branzino also went over well. Desserts and expresso to finish off were exactly on point although I will say that the olive oil and vanilla ice cream needed more oil. I love that dessert and was looking for a strong olive oil and salt presence with he sweet vanilla but this was a little too tepid with the olive oil in my view. Still delish! Highly recommended.
I wish I could put more than 5 stars for service, it was absolutely incredible. Rivaled by the food which was phenomenal.
Tarry Lodge is consistently outstanding because of their excellent service and reliable menu. I am never disappointed. Their salads are fantastic and the entree menu is somewhat repetitive but always tried and true. This a great stop in New Haven. Don’t miss it.
The service was really outstanding on our dinner. We were really well attended and the food was good as well. I certainly recommend the restaurant if you are in New Haven.
Good uncomplicated food. Very good service. Nice ambiance. Not fancy and doesn’t pretend to be. Very good experience. Recommended
Great food. Eggplant’s presentation. Beautiful stacked round surrounded by a pool of pesto and a pool of tomato sauce. Offer a nice 3 course lunch or dinner at value price. only wish they would change that menu periodically.
The food was outstanding! The three course meal had great choices and was well priced. The pasta dishes were flavorful and just the right portion size. The only criticism I have is that the service was very slow. Not sure if it was just our server or the whole staff. We were kept waiting to order, for refills on drinks, and to order dessert. I had to flag down our server three times during our meal.
Loved celebrating our anniversary here last night. The food was amazing. The service was perfect. Attentive bug kept his distance. Very knowledgeable and willing to cater to allergies which is very helpful when you’re gluten free. Highly recommend
Excellent server and food was delicious. Especially the gnocchi and the grilled octopus appetizer.
Many meals here. Always a pleasure. We had the restaurant nearly to ourselves being so early for dinner and late for lunch-3 pm.
Tried a few different menu items. Prosciutto with burrata and tomatoes. Hanger steak flavorful.
Melanie was a pleasure. Great service.
Definitely will return. And recommend.
There were 3 people in my party. Service was prompt and courteous; my cavatelli and sausage was amazing and the wine matched perfectly with my meal. Everyone in my party had a tremendous meal and we certainly will go back in the future.
Excellent service in a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. Black pasta and shrimp a hit at our table. Generous salad. We enjoy
The food was delicious and the service was outstanding - very attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back!
Our entire family loves this restaurant. Ages range from 80 to 2. That should tell you something. We have mostly come for late lunch if the 2 year old is on town. The food is first rate, creative, delicious top notch ingredients and preparation. It’s unique quality from our perspective is that it provides white linen service and ambience without the attitude. Their pastas and salads are divine. Haven’t yet tried the pizza. In a town that has no dearth if Italian food, this is right up there at the top. Enjoy!
Absolutely fantastic! The service was excellent. Anna was attentive and took pride in serving us. The food was delicious. We enjoyed prosciutto, burrata and warm crusty bread to start, Gorgonzola salads, each of us enjoyed our pasta dishes, fresh pasta was amazing! Desserts were rich and inventive...everything was top quality and wonderful. It made our college tour to Yale that much more enjoyable. The manager was amazing and checked on us throughout the evening. Great restaurant, we highly recommend it. We hope we get to return.
Always lives up to expectations, definitely one of New Haven’s best restaurants
Tarry Lodge was just OK, I was expecting a lot more for the price and the reputation. My Eggplant Parmesan was very salty and the burrata with Heirloom tomato appetizer contains tomatoes that were NOT Heirloom tomatoes - they were regular tomatoes. If they were out of the Heirloom ones they could have just said they were substituting for regular tomatoes, but tomatoes they did use were not tasty anyway. The Cappuccino machine was not frothing properly and the Cappuccino they gave me was not great, but they still charged for it. I may give this place a try again, but only out of desperation. Our waitress was great.
