Food was delicious...my seafood omelet was sooo good and my companion had the chicken and waffles . SERVICE WAS Great and the complimentary valet was a nice surprise 😉
The ambiance at the establishment was excellent. I really enjoyed the drinks and food. Would definitely come back for a second visit.
The restaurant was full on a weekend night and the wait staff and hosts were literally running through the aisles, which made me feel a bit like I was sitting in a train station. Food was good and the atmosphere is very cool, but I wish the staff could move around efficiently without feeling like they are almost out of control.
Weary and wet with sweat after the 10K, we needed the cool warmth of Tarrants. Various servers took care of all our needs. Ahi tuna appetizer stole the show.
The scallops and risotto was delicious! So much flavor. Friendly bar tenders, great place!
We had an excellent dining experience. I can't say when I enjoyed a meal more. The waitress Jessica was fantastic. It was an unreal experience. When I go back to Richmond, I will always go back.
Tarrant's service was quick and very polite despite the madness of a weekend evening crowd. Because it's so popular, it's very loud and busy. Totally fine for us but be warned. Also, there is only one bathroom each for women and men which leaves you in a well-worn server path as you wait for the bathroom to open. No where to go to be out of the servers' way.
I appreciated the wine list, the varied menu and the half portions. Food was very good and served at the correct temperature. Substitutions were welcomed.
Wonderful pizza. Can't wait to come back again.
Food and drinks were fantastic. Loved the historical feel. Great place to socialize and relax without having to worry about being too loud. Downside: our server was rarely anywhere to be seen and we waited a LONG time for our food (a salad and a sandwich) and drink refills; other servers were attentive to their tables so it wasn't a deal breaker... we'll try again!
Horrible experience. We had reservations for 2:15p on Easter Sunday, for brunch. We ordered the seafood omelet with the hollandaise on the side. Right before our food came out the waitress told us they ran out of the hollandaise sauce. They served us overcooked, no burned homefries that looked like mostly burned crumbs. After complaining, the waitress, who was rude, bought a fresh batch. We complained that the omelet was tasteless and dry without the hollandaise and when we mentioned it to the waitress she sent over the manager who came over only to tell us they had been very busy due to the holiday and they ran out. I guess those with later reservations for brunch, get what's left, and not fresh cooked. The waitress was unattentive and we had to ask or remind her for everything, brunch rolls, our she crab soup...she was more concerned with where some of the staff was going after work than her job. This was my husband's first and last time going to Tarrants!
Truly a disappointment drove 2 hours from DC to meet our son for Easter lunch. Service was awful the waitress was rude and very slow. She gave off an attitude that she didn’t want to be there. We were very polite to her saying thank you and please. She never said thank you or your welcome. Only came to check on us once and just basically flew by the table. All the other tables received Easter brunch rolls we didn’t. The food bad. Calamari was cold and awful dipping sauce, crab dip running and not much crab, I had tomato basil soup salty. Husband and son had fish and chips greasy and no flavor. Daughter had club sandwich it’s was ok. I would never go back.
First time there Easter for lunch had reservations had no wait. The whole atmosphere was amazing you have to look up the history of the place. The food was fabulous. First time - one of my favorite places now. Bar is marble -used to be a apothecary shop so that was a soda fountain . really cool place. The bread that we got was amazing we also got sweet rolls I could have made a meal off of the sweet rolls.-
Easter Sunday Brunch was great. Food was very good. We always enjoy Tarrant's.
Food and service was great as always
Outstanding brunch at Tarrant's. Each of our party ordered something different and it was all excellent. The complimentary cinnamon rolls were wonderful. The she crab soup was delicious; creamy with plenty of crab and a hint of sherry that made this as delicious as any I have had in Charleston, SC. The service was excellent on a busy Easter Sunday. My only request would be to adjust the air conditioning. I had to eat wearing my husband's coat as it was quite cold in the restaurant. Tarrant's is now on my list of favorite restaurants to visit when we are in Richmond. We will definitely return!
We went to Easter brunch and were seated right away because we had a reservation. It was busy yet the staff was positive and efficient. We’ve been here for dinner 3 times and always enjoy this high energy restaurant.
Our first visit, definitely will return. Food was great atmosphere even better.
Eating at Tarrant’s Cafe was the worst dining experience of my life so far, I’m 34 years old. It was some of the poorest quality food for their prices that I have ever experienced. Overpriced, terrible quality, will never go there again. First review I’ve every written and my inspiration was how terrible Tarrant’s Cafe is at making food
This is our favorite new restaurant. The food is delicious and great service!
Tarrants never disappoints! We had a large group of seven and were seated promptly. Service was excellent. I had scallops and risotto thst was perfect. My husband ordered Lasagna. Daughter ordered fish tacos. All were delicious. We know we can get in and out at Tarrants when we ate trying to catch a play...as we were. It is a downtown gem!
One of the things I like about this restaurant is the wide range of prices, so it's possible to dine for very little but there are premium dishes as well. We 3 friends met yesterday and were treated very hospitably by our server, who might have hoped we would leave and let someone else sit at our table (although it wasn't busy - no waiting line, etc.). We were there for over 2 hours and had a lovely time. Our server was very attentive and kind.
We had a very good meal here with very attentive servers and even the manager checked on us a few times! They had a good selection of local craft beers, a full bar and the menu had everything you could want for a meal! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone that enjoys quality food and service! We will return again!
Restaurant was great. I especially love the she crab soup it was delicious. Our waitress was amazing and the service is excellent. I had a chicken and waffles which were to die for.
I love Tarrants! Excellent food and ambiance. A great place for a special occasion.
Tarrant's is our favorite place to eat in RVA; love the food and great service
The most outstanding feature of Tarrant’s was the waitstaff. Management has obviously taken the time and effort to train a team of young folks who were, to a person, friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and efficient. It was a pleasure to watch them work!
I had a great pizza and my wife said that her tuna steak was outstanding.
Atmosphere on a Saturday night was bustling and noisy. Not the place for a quiet dinner this night, but a great dinner.
For the price, the food just wasn’t that good. We were pretty disappointed considering the restaurant was highly recommended. We wouldn’t go back.
I love the way the staff works as a team. Anytime one of them walked past our table, they noticed if we needed drink refills or had an empty plate to be removed. Our server was attentive; we felt very well attended. My shrimp and grits were delicious!
My go to restaurant for great food.
Tarrant’s offers a diverse menu, great staff, and comfortable atmosphere. We personally enjoy the extended brunch hours (until 3pm on Sat & Sun). Tarrant’s has a great selection of beer, wine and non-alcoholic “prescriptions”. The chef has never disappointed us. We highly recommend you try it.
We enjoyed our mini-reunion and special celebration at Tarrant's. The food was delish and there was no hurry-hurry-rush-rush feel. It was a lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon at brunch with friends celebrating our life long friendship.
Excellent quality comforting food.
Great eggplant stacks and Proseco on tap!
I love dining here.. nostalgic and historic scene with great cuisine. My server this go around wasn’t quite up to par.. didn’t top off drinks and asked to take our plates 5 times in 20 minutes?? Maybe she was in a hurry to close the ticket.. not sure.. my pastor and I enjoyed the lunch meal; however, he expressed “I’m still nibbling” several times.. I guess there is a bit of knowingness a server must have that you can’t teach. But I’m sure i’ll Be back.
Ate there twice in one day! Awesome food and atmosphere!
Worst experience. The steak was fake. The mash potatoes were just a gross. This is the worst food I have put in my mouth. Please upgrade the spot.
This is our second visit to Tarrant's while visiting our nephew who attends VCU. Food has been great and staff very attentive. We will be back.
