The food was overpriced for brunch and lacked flavor. Based on what friends had told me I was expecting to be blown away. I went with a large group and no one was pleased with their meals. Overall disappointing and I will not return.
A Richmond must ! Tarrant's Café consistently offers great food with outstanding service. A huge selection of offerings, especially at Brunch on both Saturdays and Sundays , will leave all of those in your dining party very satisfied. We already are planning our nest trip !
Excellent food, excellent service. Our waiter was outstanding! Friendly, informative, attentive. Excellent evening. Have always recommended Tarrant’s!
We came in from out of state with a very large group of female soccer players. Tarrent’s staff did an outstanding job taking care of them. The food was awesome and the staff is top notch.
The service was very slow although the waitress and manager were very nice and apologetic as the problem was in the kitchen. The food was fabulous, the ambiance always very special. The guests I had with me were dining here for the first time. Two from Richmond and one from out of town. I will come back again. I believe it was a "one-off" night for the restaurant that has become one of my favorites!
New waiter. Couldn’t answer basic questions about the menu. Three of us ordered soup and a half sandwich. Waiter brought soup first—we had requested sandwich and soup to be served at the same time
Also, parking is a problem in downtown Richmond.
Delish, quick service and super nice wait staff. So convenient to Convention Center.
We met my cousin and her husband, newly arrived in RVA, for dinner. All 4 of us loved it. I've been several times before, but they were quite pleased to have this restaurant now on their list of favorite places. I had the rockfish; it was perfect. So were the leftovers. The service was great, Cora, and just the right version of "relaxed." Thank you. We'll go back.
We were 10 min late to our reservation and they were extremely understanding. Our server was very nice, and apologetic when the appetizers came out 30 minutes after we ordered them.
We had theater tickets 2 1/2 hours after our reservation thinking we had plenty of time. The theater was less than 2 miles away, and we had reserved parking. We received 2 entrees an hour and 20 minutes after we ordered them, and were told that they were just waiting on the calzones
to be out of the oven. When the “fresh out of the oven” calzones arrived 5 minutes later, one was lukewarm and the other was cold, complete with raw seafood on the inside. Realizing the time crunch and the slow speed of the kitchen, our guest of honor (a birthday dinner) went without an entree instead choosing to split the lukewarm calzone in order to to get the meal done. We were earlyish on a Thursday evening, the place was almost empty until we were getting ready to leave, it wasn’t like they were swamped on the dine in side of things. The food was pretty good. Between that and good service, we are willing to try it again, but if the kitchen doesn’t get their act together, it would totally not be worth it unless you have 3 hours to kill (2 hours to get it and try it and then an hour or more for them to actually serve you a hot item). They took the inedible
Entree off the bill, and apologized for it, not a word was said about the ridiculous wait in a quiet restaurant.
Great little eclectic place. Food and service was outstanding.
Our waitress was outstanding! So sorry I can’t recall her name. We were a party of 6 and a bit “picky” about our drinks and food. She took it all in stride and was extremely helpful, patient and fun. She even had the bartender come out to our table to make sure he was making one of the drinks to perfection! Wow! Food was delicious and loved the great variety to accommodate a variety of tastes. A great spot to also sip a cocktail at the bar. Wonderful atmosphere, staff and food.
Delicious meal, courteous staff. Great setting for Saturday brunch.
Our server was great. Love the area and decor of the restaurant. Overall the food and drinks were delicious with one exception; the rockfish was mushy - maybe over cooked. We will visit Tarrant’s again.
Our eggs, bacon, sausage, waffle and coffee were outstanding! Our server could not have been better. She was attentive, prompt, courteous and warm. She was great. The sweet buns we were given as starters were fantastic. The valet parking was wonderful and convenient.
Having said all that, the pancakes were awful. They were cold, paper thin and had no flavor. Such a waste. If they were typical of the pancakes you offer, I’d suggest taking them off of your menu. My wife ordered the waffle with her eggs and I ordered the pancakes with my eggs.
We’ll be back because the overall experience was wonderful. However, we know now NOT to order the pancakes.
Though I have learned that it is tricky ordering a filet mignon cooked to my specifications, I was craving a steak, so risked it. The chef did an AMAZING job, cooking it perfectly, so I was very happy. My dining companions were all very very pleased with their choices as well. Will definitely go back.
The food was ok but nothing really stood out. The Seafood Polenta was overcooked and much better at Tazza Kitchen. Atmosphere was great but pretty much on par with other restaurants of this caliber. I really feel like it's overpriced for what you get. There is better food to be had elsewhere at a better price.
Always a fun place with large tasty portions
Love Tarrant’s. Have eaten there many times. Our waiter, Noah, was awesome! The food delicious. The only downside was the noise. Will definitely go back.
Great service. Great atmosphere. First time we were here and we will definitely b going back. Food was delicious
Food is usually good and price is fair. Have eaten there many times but on Sunday the service was really bad. Also, our booth was very cramped and could hardly move. I will try again and if we have a different waiter and seat Tarrant’s will get a higher score.
We were three tall men seated it in a very small uncomfortable table. The server was excellent, knew the menu well and explainef things well. I ordered the Monte Cristo turkey sandwich, which is very small, with french fries, which were not that good. I've been to Tarrants many time, and one of my only complaints is there are too many items on the menu. It can be confusing trying to figure out what to order.
Live in the Northern Neck. Have had dinner and lunch multiple times when I’m in Richmond. Always a good choice.
Great place for a pre-show dinner! So convenient with valet parking and having the Virginia Repertory Theatre within walking distance. Excellent service, choices to suit everyone's taste and great value. Always a winner!
Overall a great experience, although we were disappointed that our main course came out while we were still enjoying our soup and salad.
We had a wonderful experience! Food was excellent (we both had seafood). Server was attentive, informative and gracious. Our meals came quickly so we could easily get to the theater. Overall an excellent evening.
Perhaps it was just an off night. We ordered surf and turf done Pittsburg medium, emphasis on the medium. What we got was very rare, not even seared. Cold potatoes. Warm (not hot) vegetables. Our server (and someone who perhaps was the manager) took great speed in preparing a new pair of servings. The second time...you could tell there was a sear on the filets...but, one was barely medium, the other medium rare.
We SO wanted to like this place.
They deducted an entree from the bill and seemed sincere. There were a number of other menu items we might try if we return. But, that's a big IF.
Great food and great service. For Tarrant's I've come to expect nothing less. Thanks!
Love the restaurant atmosphere and service was great but the food was just okay, especially for the price.
Everything was great! We appreciated the accommodations for what we asked for! Thanks, again!
Loved this place for years! Great food and reasonable prices!
Menu is great. Service was good but had to ask another waiter to grab drinks off the bar i noticed waiting there for us. Great appetizers. Hot meals came with burnt tops like they had been sitting in a salamander oven too long and dinner salad was not fresh/crisp
Good food. Lots of choices Good service
Waited a bit too long, 35 minutes, for food.
Food was very good and portions ample. Staff were attentive. Prices were a little high. No valet parking during brunch so a little frustrating finding parking close. Overall an enjoyable experience
I have to think this was a one-off as I have always had terrific experiences here. There was no valet parking, but there was no way to know that. When we finally gave up, we had to go find parking and slog in the snow, making us late for our reservation. The poached eggs were overdone in both our Benedict entrees, making the dish quite dry. I’m sure I will return, but it won’t be soon.
Food was Great and Service was immaculate Definitely will be dining again
Everything was good. I didn't give the food five stars because the She Crab soup was luke warm.
Excellent food and exceptional wait staff. The ambiance is perfect. We had the chicken salad. It was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Celebrating my mother's 84th birthday. Food was excellent, but Stuart, our waiter, was the best and made our lunch that much better. It was a great experience and would recommend Tarrant's and Stuart!
The service was friendly and I loved the atmosphere of Tarrant's, but the food was bland and basically uneatable. It was also very expensive for what we got. Overall bad experience.
Overall we had a good experience but the food was very over priced for what it was. I got the tuna steak which was cooked well but I was so disappointed when it came to the sides. It was generic what seemed like frozen brown rice and mixed veggies. Very bland and under whelming for an almost $30 entree. I’ve had good experiences at Tarrants for lunch and brunch and had been excited to try the dinner menu for some time now. Sad to say the dinner is not worth it at all.
