Tarbell's Ratings and Reviews
I used to come to Tarbell’s at least once a week when I came to PHX for work about 10 years ago. I had to come back when in town recently and brought a friend. It was absolutely wonderful. The food was great and our waiter was fantastic. Created a wow moment. I couldn’t make up my mind in the menu so he brought me a little of 3 dishes.
From the moment you enter, being greeted by name, your favorite cocktail remembered, both seasonal food selections and your old favorites (including desserts which I rarely order anywhere else!) Whether eating in bar or main dining room, this is our favorite restaurant in the valley!
Great service, exceptional food, excellent wine list. Way too loud to attempt any conversation beyond rudimentry short phrases, a combo of patron and kitchen noise. Service staff attentive, knowledgeable and readily met to our need to keep to timeline for concert this evening.
I was curious about Tarbell's and having tried it would now have to say it's curious. The couple seated behind us were on an awkward first date. A lone male diner seated nearby fingered his moustache and tried to catch my eye. Our shared calamari appetizer was served with an interesting tomato sauce but the tempura batter contained little hard bits; I'm guessing it had been undermixed. I ordered The Seasonal Chowda. the broth tasted old and was starting to turn, tasted of vinegar. My husband ordered the peppered New York steak and had a violent 20 minute coughing fit afterward.
Service here couldn’t be better our server responded to our every request with a smile...food was good but seasoning a little off...fish could have stood a little more seasoning to be perfect and the risotto was a little on the salty side but very good...deserts were phenomenal! Excellent well priced wine list and great selection of after dinner drinks...would try again if I were here longer.
Amazing dining experience! The food is creative and absolutely delicious. Our server, Rocko, provided us with personal, attentive and friendly service - his suggestions made our dining experience extra special. The ambiance of the restaurant sets a relaxing and comfortable (cozy) and intimate feel. There is a great vibe with lots of talk and laughter coupled with well -chosen background music. Desserts are a highlight - all fresh and made in house - YUM! We loved it so much we visited twice during our five day visit to Phoenix. If you live locally, this should be on your top 10 list!
We were celebrating my husband's birthday, we have been planning on a visit to Tarbell's & this was the perfect occasion. Our friends joined us, food & wine were perfect. Nice ambiance, we will return! Oh yes, a lovely cheesecake dessert for the birthday boy!
We always have an amazing experience here! The service is top notch! We are gluten free and they always have great options. We really just go for the apple crisp, haha! They do have a seasonal menu which we always order from. We had the duck and short rib stew...both amazing! Thank you for another great experience!
First time at Tarbell’s, but won’t be our last. We have already recommended it to friends. Our reservation was honored perfectly. The food was very good and our server, Eric provided the best service we may have ever had.....period. My husband was deciding between two pasta dishes, so he asked for advice. Eric asked if he could surprise him and husband agreed. Voila’.......half portions of each. He loved one of the dishes and liked the other, but he’ll know for next time. Cream of onion soup was heavenly. My roast chicken and Caesar salad were very good. So glad we decided to try it. Kudos to Mark Tarbell, Eric and entire restaurant staff.
Great ambience and food was good for a Sunday night without the chef owner Mark Tarbell present. The grilled octopus appetizer is the best I’ve had in town.Only a mishap was the bottle of cloudy Bay that we ordered arrived room temperature. This was remedied however when placed in an ice bucket.
Always a treat to visit Tarbell's, and it seemed we had even more to choose from on the menu than in our many previous visits. We shared the calamari and the burrata/tomatoes, both of which were excellent. I had the fettuccini with mushrooms, and shallots, which I believe is new on the menu, and it was fantastic - so much flavor and not a rich sauce or cheese, so went down easy! Hubby had the gnocchi with crab and a red sauce, and loved it. Too full for dessert this time, but sure did enjoy dinner.
Tarbell's never disappoints. The service is on the spot and attentive. The food is outstanding and cooked properly. The Scotch beef is always great. One of my party also had the special which was the halibut--excellent. The grilled romaine salad was special and tasty. Desert was a must. The chocolate cake with pistachio gelato was rich and satisfying. The crème brule had a perfect top and creamy custard. The restaurant is busy but efficient meaning . I would recommend this to anyone that enjoys going out to dinner.
We have returned to Tarbell's again and again. This restaurant has it all, great food, terrific service and atmosphere. Linen table cloths, napkins but a very reasonable price and the best cocktails. The menu changes but not drastically and the desserts are also excellent.
We love Tarbell's but had not had the chance to go for a while. We decided to go for our 14th wedding anniversary. It was SO worth it!!!! They placed us in a booth looking out over the restaurant that was private. The food was AMAZING. Our wait staff was knowledgeable, curious, and did not rush us...we were FINALLY away from the kiddos for a few hours:) The wine selection is fantastic. At the end of the meal our server brought us a toast of champagne and the most delectable cheesecake I have ever eaten!!! We felt so special and cherished our night out...we are still talking about the evening!!
Don't walk to Tarbells....Run! This restaurant is over-the-top in all regards! Very creative, expertly crafted and promptly and graciously served cuisine. Awesome drink menu and wines. Our favorite restaurant not only in Scottsdale but almost anywhere. Just wished we lived closer. Cannot wait until next trip to Arizona! A must for anyone traveling to or living in the Scottsdale area.
