Had a dinner reservation for 4 people at 8:30 on Saturday night. We had to wait 35 minutes to be seated. That's just bad management. The hostess didn't offer anything for the major inconvenience but did buy our drinks after we asked them to after their suggested 25 minute delay became a 35 minute delay. They did bring a couple starters to the table to get us going, but the overall staff was indifferent and food was so-so. I had the daily fish special that was Halibut. It looked pretty but was fairly tasteless and perhaps a little overcooked. Everything else was just OK too. I had high expectations of a good meal, but was really disappointed. No one will be running back any time soon.

The service was very good, but when my guest and I were enjoying dessert and our wine I felt rushed out the door. We still had a decent amount of dessert left on the plate and we were asked three times if we were done. We were only there for under an hour and a half and as a fellow server that is a perfect amount of time for a meal considering how much we paid for it. The scallops were excellent and the wine list was very good. Overall it was a good experience, but very pricey.

Our go to place for neighborhood, old school - classic dining. Not a millennial in sight - it’s perfect. No one next to you looking at their phones, people are actually having table conversation. No one next to you cursing, talking on their phone, over served ... Go to for good comfort food, wine, up lifting atmosphere and excellent service with no servings of aggression. Thank you Tarbell’s.

Had been awhile since we dined at Tarbell's and it was a memorable experience. Though pricey and a bit loud, the food and service were exemplary.

have dined here before and dinner was always good..super cocktails creative dishes and a great wine list, however this time very disappointing I ordered a lamb ragu which looked like dog food and was ordinary at best I probably will return as an excellent choice for a business/client meal I would stay away form the lamb ragu service was very good

We usually really love Tarbell's for special occasions, and have been there for Valentine's dinner in years prior, but this year lacked something. The service/server was functional, but not warm; we didn't feel extra special. My husband ordered the seafood chowder and the mussels were overcooked. His meal was just ok. Usually everything is great. Other than that, the food was quite good. Slightly disappointing overall; however we will return to Tarbell's nonetheless.

The candy bacon salad with the poached egg was delicious. The yam gnocchi with lump crab was tasty. Good wine list. I would return next time in town.

Tarbell's never fails to satisfy. Mark and this team take great care with everything, with every step of the hospitality process from food procurement all the way to the little cookie every guest receives as the hostess or manager says "goodbye." Diver scallops are not unique, but the cauliflower grits upon which they are served is. "The Meatball" is 10 ounces of ground sirloin on a bed of spaghetti that enjoys a decidedly Genoese take on marinara sauce. Always great. We'll be back.

Our service the entire evening was impeccable – the wine glasses seemed to refill themselves all evening long – and it was the perfect balance of attentiveness. It was the finest meal and dining experience I’ve had since I moved to Phoenix.

Tarbell’s food and service is amazing. The staff, the server and everyone was friendly, professional knew the wine and food menu perfectly. Loved it all, the only issue is the small dining area on the west side of the restaurant seems little lacking in style, but overall one of my favorites.

We just love Tarbell’s. It’s one of our favorite spots for dinner dates. We celebrated my husband’s birthday. As always, the food was delicious. I had the fish feature (halibut) and my husband loved the duck entree. They spoiled us with a yummy cheesecake dessert as well. We will be back soon!!

We were celebrating an anniversary. I had called prior to the reservation date to ask for a nicer table and anything else the restaurant could do to make the evening special. We were seated in a dark and cold corner as opposed to the main dining space. The waiter had no idea we were celebrating an occasion. None of us enjoyed our entrees and one meal had to be sent back due to the temperature of the steak. The waiter was very slow and we waited quite a while for a glass of wine to be delivered. I have lived in Phoenix for 3 decades and am now extremely disappointed in Tarbell's. It used to be great many years ago. Will not go back.

The menu is unique with a plethora of great sounding dishes, and everything we had was scrumptous. The staff could not have been friendlier or more efficient, and the table service was the absolute best. Too often higher end restaurant service is marked by officiousness, but not Tarbell's. The service was perfect. Can't ask for more delicious food or better service. The mussels were best mussels I've ever had, and that's coming off a couple of weeks in a small coastal town in Spain whose mussels I was sure could not be topped ... but they were at Tarbell's. Also, unlike restaurants too often these days, the noise level was such that there was no problem of everyone at our table hearing each other. And the parking is not a problem because if there are no spaces in the lot, there's valet parking.

Review: Underwheling. Booked as a "date night" on OpenTable. Was sat at a bar high top in a nearly empty restaurant at 5:30p, instead of a cozy dining room table. Allan (our server) and our busser were great with service from beginning to end, didn't miss a detail. Burratta app was good. Server surprised us with candied bacon, poached egg, and frisée for an intermezzo. Good and very rich. My husband had peppered NY Strip with au gratin potatoes and creamed spinach. Steak was a good piece of meat, aged well, but under-salted. Spinach was sautéed, no cream. Potatoes were dry, over-cooked, couldn't cut it with a Laguiole knife. Sent it back. Potatoes were cuttable but still dry. Manager said they added more cream to the spinach, they added creme fraiche. Hmm. I had scallops with cauliflower purée, curried tomatoes, Parisian potatoes and asparagus. Scallops were cooked a perfect medium, the rest was mush. Manager never touched our table again to see if things were better. Ordered spaghetti and giant meatball to take home for later. Will comment on that later. Better be good...
