Tarbell's Ratings and Reviews
food preparation was lacking
three of the four of us ordered fish which was served overcooked and not served with ordered sauces
Caesar salad was about the worst I had eaten
Had not been to the restaurant for a couple of years and was looking forward to returning. Was very disappointed
I haven’t been here for several years but I recall Tarbell’s being vegetarian friendly and had good options so I decided to dine here with a friend. The $21 vegetarian plate sounded terrific so I ordered it. Unfortunately the value and what you get is short of flavor and variety. My friend ordered the daily fish special - halibut and she enjoyed the dish.
We absolutely love this restaurant! Have kind of rediscovered Tarbell's and have been several times in the last few months. Food is superb, service excellent, and when we went for a birthday celebration with friends, it was the perfect choice...everyone loved their food and the atmosphere was warm and lively. We are already looking forward to the next visit:)
New Year's Eve at Tarbell's was terrific! it was super festive with balloons. Our server, Tessie, was really busy, but did not let us feel under served at all! She was wonderful. The complimentary hummus and chips hit the spot with our wine as a starter. We shared a Caesar and we both had the pan seared Halibut, which was fantastic!!! After the second glass of wine, we were both too full for dessert! It was a great meal to end 2017!!!
I have been going to Tarbell's since it opened. The service is always excellent. There is an extensive wine list with a broad range of prices. The food is always top notch. You really cannot go wrong. While I usually go to Tarbell's for special occasions, it is also a good choice for a drop in meal.
Its a wonderfully unique food emporium, with unusual delicious items. I first "discovered" Tarbell"s years ago, but have not been back until recently; not for disinterest, but rather because we live far, far away in in Moon Valley. Nevertheless, our recent experience was enlightening and we are comitted ot visit ther more often, regardless of the distance.
This was the best meal i’ve Had in Phoenix in a long time. The food was creative and beautifully presented and of course, delicious! The atmosphere is lively and fun but not too much for my in laws visiting. Great for a special occasion dinner, or just for fun. A specia place we will be going back to soon!!
The food was great!
The service was not! First we got the "oh I can't seem to find your reservation". When I pulled out my phone to find my Open Table Confirmation number they all of a sudden found it.
We were rushed through the whole meal. There is no way my entree should be sitting under my elbow getting cold while I am only half way through my appetizer. They were trying to take my plate away while the fork was still in my hand. It was very clear the server wanted to turn the table over quickly. My dessert, Chocolate Mousse, was brought to the table without a plate under the glass, so the only choice if you wanted to put your spoon down was on the tablecloth. Really not classy. I had out of town guests with me. Really disappointing.
Had an outstanding dinner and our waiter was knowledgeable, thoughtful and perfectly attentive. He made great suggestions. We were interested in two scallop dishes so he had the chef split them between the two of us and they were beautifully plated. Amazing.
Service was uneven, food was good but overpriced. Attractive and energetic crowd. It was described to me as "Nothing is ever bad but nothing is ever great either." That would sum up my experience. I wouldn't spend the money to eat there again but I'm glad I tried it.
