This is one of the best restaurants in the Scottsdale/Phoenix area! Food is always awesome and, amazingly, prices are reasonable. Drinks are creative and the Whisky selection is second to none.

Service was uneven, food was good but overpriced. Attractive and energetic crowd. It was described to me as "Nothing is ever bad but nothing is ever great either." That would sum up my experience. I wouldn't spend the money to eat there again but I'm glad I tried it.

We celebrated my husbands birthday with a fantastic meal. We tried new menu items and loved them. Unusual melding of flavors that were so interesting and delicious. And the apple crisp for dessert was “to die for”.

Very nice dinner. Noise level is a little loud and tables close together but the food is excellent as is the service.

Always great. Interesting and assorted menu. The pasta dishes are my favorites. They also have a very good wine list.

A Phoenix classic but a bit tired. Not really set up for an intimate dinner. Food was pretty good and the waiter was very good. However, there are better choices for the money.

The habilut was well presented and tasted fantastic. Drinks took a while to get to the table. The server seemed busy and frantic. Our bill was Two items more than what we had ordered and the server didn't have a legible explanation for it. Typically we do not look at the bill before presenting our debit card, this time I insisted we do because the service was poor And hence we caught the $31 extra. Attention to detail through out the dinner was poor for a $200 dinner for two. It was my first time and this was the first restaurant we wanted to try besides restaurants in Scottsdale or the East valley. Of course company was great.

We love the whole Tarbell’s group. My husband and I are regulars at The Wine Store and Tavern next door, and visit Tarbell’s Restuarant for our most special occasions. This particular dinner did not disappoint - from the champagne, starters, dinner, wine and dessert - all was delicious and prepared & served with the utmost care.

I had the seasonal butternut squash soup to start and the wild mushroom risotto for dinner. I am vegetarian, so always delight in decadent veg-friendly dishes. My hisband had a sashimi appetizer (“melted in his mouth”), followed by a half-order of Scotch Beef and a half-order of their current special, handmade Tagliana pasta with rare truffles from Alba, Italy; picked by hand by Mr. Tarbell. Or waiter was the one that suggested two half-orders, since my husband was having a hard time choosing just one thing off the menu!! It was a perfect scenario for him. Our waiter even shaved a few complimentary truffle slices on top of my risotto (very nice of him, considering they fetch $4000/lb.)!

Tarbell’s is a nice restaurant without feeling pretentious or overly “fancy” - yet the food (and wine selection) is out-of-this-world!!!!

We’ll be back soon, for sure.

Great tasting food, service was superb. I had the peppered NY Strip which was cooked perfectly, my wife had the Tarbell's scotch beef, it was so good that we will try to replicate for Christmas dinner.

The meal and service were superb. The peppered NY strip steak arrived medium rare just as ordered. My wife had the bay scallops and they were perfectly prepared. We were celebrating a birthday which the restaurant acknowledged with a complimentary desert. Only one minor complaint is that we were served our courses a bit too quickly. However, the restaurant was quite busy so they likely wanted to accommodate those patrons who were waiting for a table. We will definitely return to Tarbells!

heard from several people this was great place with exceptional wine list. We love our vino and spend our money on it. Got there, and were seated in bar. It was loud, and there were overserved people nearby. It was very contrary to what we were expecting. Waiter didnt show up. We left. Not at all what we had expected.

We ate at Tarbells on an out of town pleasure trip twice; we were so pleased after the first night that we made reservations for the next! The restaurant is lively and fun, a great energy. The menu is interesting, innovative, unusual pairings but not so exotic they have to be explained. Charred octopus, caesar salad, a wonderful grilled halibut with root vegetables, incredible giant beef/veal meatball with the spaghetti, a meatball pizza, candied bacon salad, and a delightful meatball pizza were all enjoyed. The profiteroles were simply amazing, and the apple crisp was perfect for a fall evening. Cocktails are well made; try the barrel aged manhattan... totally different flavor than an off-the shelf drink and superb. A modest but well chosen wine list with wines by the glass is available. Our service from Allan was impeccable and knowledgeable; someone who enjoys the food they serve. High recommended.

I and my guests were very disappointed with our meal at Tarbells this visit. We have been going to this restaurant since it opened and feel we can honestly criticize it. The meatball was bland, the mussels were bland, but, the bigge st insult was the pasta with truffles. This was the size of an eye dropper{you get the picture] and the truffles were so thinly grated as to be almost not there. For this portion we paid $85.00. We walked out feeling we had been ripped off. We had never felt this before . I am sure Mark Tarbell would not have felt comfortable if he had been there. The only good thing was that by eating so sparcely I had dropped 1/2 pound !

I used to come to Tarbell’s at least once a week when I came to PHX for work about 10 years ago. I had to come back when in town recently and brought a friend. It was absolutely wonderful. The food was great and our waiter was fantastic. Created a wow moment. I couldn’t make up my mind in the menu so he brought me a little of 3 dishes.

From the moment you enter, being greeted by name, your favorite cocktail remembered, both seasonal food selections and your old favorites (including desserts which I rarely order anywhere else!) Whether eating in bar or main dining room, this is our favorite restaurant in the valley!

Great service, exceptional food, excellent wine list. Way too loud to attempt any conversation beyond rudimentry short phrases, a combo of patron and kitchen noise. Service staff attentive, knowledgeable and readily met to our need to keep to timeline for concert this evening.

I was curious about Tarbell's and having tried it would now have to say it's curious. The couple seated behind us were on an awkward first date. A lone male diner seated nearby fingered his moustache and tried to catch my eye. Our shared calamari appetizer was served with an interesting tomato sauce but the tempura batter contained little hard bits; I'm guessing it had been undermixed. I ordered The Seasonal Chowda. the broth tasted old and was starting to turn, tasted of vinegar. My husband ordered the peppered New York steak and had a violent 20 minute coughing fit afterward.

Service here couldn’t be better our server responded to our every request with a smile...food was good but seasoning a little off...fish could have stood a little more seasoning to be perfect and the risotto was a little on the salty side but very good...deserts were phenomenal! Excellent well priced wine list and great selection of after dinner drinks...would try again if I were here longer.

Amazing dining experience! The food is creative and absolutely delicious. Our server, Rocko, provided us with personal, attentive and friendly service - his suggestions made our dining experience extra special. The ambiance of the restaurant sets a relaxing and comfortable (cozy) and intimate feel. There is a great vibe with lots of talk and laughter coupled with well -chosen background music. Desserts are a highlight - all fresh and made in house - YUM! We loved it so much we visited twice during our five day visit to Phoenix. If you live locally, this should be on your top 10 list!
