too noisy for talking at table for 4 starting at 7:30PM on a wed. night, will not be returning just because of the noise level.
We are never disappointed with Tarbell's which is why we eat there frequently. It is our go-to place to take friends visiting from out of town. I love their ever changing menu and innovative dishes!!
All 4 meals were fantastic. The angel hair pasta w/mushrooms was incredible. Great wine list. Humorous, personable waiter made for a wonderful time!
Superb wine selection, the 2 white wines we ordered were great. Appetizers were fresh and delicious. We had the beet salad, calamari, burrata and tomatoes and the clams. The special Halibit with squash puree was a great combo. Desserts were also outstanding we had the cheese cake, bread pudding, sorbet and creme brulee all which tasted home made. Super friendly staff who keep our glasses full all night.
Our long time favorite restaurant in all of Phoenix. The staff is top notch, the food is always exceptional and the overall experience is consistently FABULOUS!
We had a wonderful dining experience at Tarbell's on Saturday night. We were seated as soon as we arrived and the noise level inside the restaurant was pleasant. Our waiter was informative; made great recommendations on wine and gave us plenty of time to decide on our selections. We had the fish special and two appetizers for dinner, each were perfectly prepared. Cappuccino and the bread pudding dessert were excellent also.
Our first time experiencing Tarbell's after living in the valley for 40 years.
It was outstanding and we will certainly be back!
We have enjoyed going to Tarbell's for years but were very disappointed by our recent dining experience there. Biggest problem was service, which at least in part, was probably not the fault of our food server. First, between my wife's starter( mussels) and her next course, we had a ridiculously long wait. I waited to eat what I had ordered. The food server apologized. However, after we were done with our meal, we again were waiting for an extremely long time when we finally asked one of the receptionists to please find our server or anyone else who could get us a check. The service the entire evening was out of sync.
We also believe that the portion size of my wife's mussels had gotten smaller while the price had increased and prices of glasses of wine also appeared to have increased. Those would not have bothered us much if we hadn't had such bad service.
Loved it! Starters were a bit pricey for what you get but were awesome in flavor. Service was great. The best creamed spinach I've ever had.
From our greeting to our desert and thank you every part of our experience was excellent. When a restaurant is run as well as Tarbell’s, there is not much else to say. I had the special fish of the day. The haddock was mouth watering, just the right moistness. It was on a bed of orzo, beautifully seasoned. My partner had the salmon. They were very accommodating about her food allergies and her meal was delicious. Even the bread was fresh and warm. For desert, we shared the 3 sorbets. Lemon, raspberry and strawberry all were exceptional. Our only suggestion is to have a variety of iced tea and a better selection of beer available.
We have been going to Tarbell’s for over 15 years. The food continues to be more interesting and delicious thanks to Mark Tarbell.. The energy continues to be fun, hip and warm. The service is always impeccable. Thank you for giving us a special place to go for an everyday meal and a special occasion!
Really great service from Fernando. Dining room was really crowded and tight space between tables. My feature fish of Halibut had a really hard sear that may have overcooked it.
Excellent overall experience. Top to bottom. Top notch!
Made my birthday dinner truly memorable with excellent service through out and delicious food!
This was our first visit to Tarbell's and it did not disappoint. The food and wine were excellent. I had the scallops which I thought were perfectly cooked and outstanding in flavor. Our waiter was friendly, helpful with suggestions, and provided great service. The other staff we interacted with were very friendly as well. All in all, a first class experience.
For the price of the food, not a date worthy establishment.
Consistently delicious with always-excellent service. One of my favorite go-to restaurants in Phoenix.
My absolute favorite restaurant. Never a disappointing meal. Always amazing. Thank you Mark!
Was too loud. Although it was a Saturday night, you could barely hear your conversation with my guests. Food was great as usual.
Will try to plan earlier dinner instead of 7pm, was totally full & loud.
Very loud on a Saturday night, couldn't really hear my dinner companion who was sitting across from me. Talia was great, it was my birthday and even though she didnt do much, it was still special. The food was spectacular, we got the mushroom risotto and the lobster gnocchi. 00
We had an amazing experience. From the moment we walked in the staff were fantastic.
The mood and atmosphere were great for a casual date night
What we ate: crunchy chickpeas, crunchy sea beans and beef carpaccio. All were absolutely delicious.
Meatball with spaghetti - this is one of their classic dishes and it did not disappoint.
Ribbon pasta with sausage- oh my was this good. The sausage is made in house and was the best I’ve had.
Bourbon bread pudding and chocolate pudding.
From Karla, We went to dinner to celebrate my birthday. The food choices were overwhelming however we decided on the salmon and ribbon pasta with chicken sausage and the meticulously prepared sauce made the dish over the top. My boyfriend surprised me with a very romantic table that was prepared with rose petals on the table, all the staff signed a birthday card for me and later my gift was delivered. It was a guitar signed by Lynyrd Skynyrd that he purchased from the wine shop and the proceeds were donated to charity. This was an incredibly memorable celebration that I’ll never forget!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️+
Are usually don’t take time to review restaurants but I feel the need to. this was probably one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to in my life - top five for sure! Amazing
The food was great.. but the service? I've rarely had better and that's saying something. Really some of the most exceptional service I've ever experienced.
Talia was amazing! We had a long leisurely time trying a lot of different dishes and she made us feel right at home, even bringing things we didn’t order for us to try. We had such a good time
The service was superb! Aaron is one of the best waiters we’ve ever had! The food is also well above expectations.
The food was So salty!
We've enjoyed many wonderful meals at Tarballs and this dinner was to introduce our friends to one of our favorite restaurants in the valley. The mussels, burratta and mushroom appetizers were all excellent. The GF crackers were a BIG PLUS. However, the special fish dish was very dry and not very exciting. It required a knife to cut into. The scallops were the hit of the table.
We complained and they comped the two meals. That was not expected since we had eaten the fish. We'll return becasue everything else was up to their standards and we evening was a delight.
A festive experience in an atmosphere of joyous ambience equalled by its creative and delicious meals
We have been here many times but this time was a little bit disappointing. The prices are definitely higher than I remember and the halibut was overcooked. It and the sides felt like they had been under the heat lamp for a little bit. To of the other dishes were Good, but if you are a charging premium prices, it should be more reliable
The service was excellent and thoughtful. They had signed a card for my mother in law’s 80th that was on our table. That was just the start.
Absolute perfect evening out from start to finish. Wonderful atmosphere and delicious food!
As always, fresh unique ingredients from all over American will awaken your tastebuds and welcome you to an amazing dining experience. Mark does it right, every time.
This was supposed to be our fun night out. We picked this place off the reviews but was disappointed the second we sat down. The host sat us down but next to our table were FIVE individuals who were taking up all the space with their drunken conversations by the bar. Our waitress even went to go talk with the drunken 5 for a few minutes. When she finally came to our table, it was as though she was annoyed we were there.
As we’re waiting for our food, we’re given a free risotto “compliments of the chef” to try. It was okay up until we saw that we were actually charged for it.
The night was one my spouse and I had been looking forward to for months. Not only were we disappointed, we’re never coming back. If want drunks to take up the restaurant floor while we eat mediocre food we’ll just go to some dive bar by ASU next time.
I can’t wait to get a voucher for 2 free meals to this place as an apology. Go here if you want, it’s your money. Just don’t expect the high class, dress up, fancy dining experience my spouse and I anticipated because you’ll be disappointed and out a big chunk of change.
Always an excellent dining experience at Tarbells. The food is delicious, service friendly and fantastic, atmosphere is very nice with a great vibe, noise levels are good and one is able to talk and hear. a very enjoyable evening!
Great food, great service, above and beyond attention to detail.
Awesome food, awesome atmosphere, awesome service! Everything was top notch with a surprise dessert at the end. It was an amazing dinner & well worth it!
Tarbell's is a class Phoenix staple, and it somehow took me 11 years living here to actually check it out. This was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. From the drinks to the dessert and everything in between, it was absolute perfection. Our server was a dream and took excellent care of us. Will be back again for more celebrations!
1st time to Tarbell’s and we were not disappointed. Food was good, different because of the seasonal offerings, we enjoyed that. The cheesecake...probably one of the best I’ve had in a very long time.
We will be back again.
The Meatball and spaghetti was very good, actually the best meatball I've ever had. But I found the sauce on the spaghetti was watery and very diluted. I like a thicker sauce and this wasn't. It had a good flavor, but it was way too dilute. My fellow companions had the Sole fish and the filet. Both were good, but I found they both to be too high priced.
