There is not another restaurant I would select - or recommend - as a favorite in the Phoenix metro area. Always consistent; highly trained staff who recognize your needs; innovative dishes served with flair; top-drawer wine list and bar selections.
Victoria’s martini made with Plymouth gin was perfect, as always. First course was a tomato tartare salad; next was flank steak grilled med rare, complemented by a bottle of Cote du Rhône. There wasn’t room for a dessert. Next time.
I’ve been coming to this restaurant since Mark opened it in 1994. There simply isn’t another restaurant of its caliber in the Valley.

We dine quite regularly at Tarbell’s. Why? It is unquestionably consistent, delicious, conveniently located and offers meticulous service. The chefs are creative, often use local ingredients and deliver nothing short of the very best product. This past Friday we enjoyed the Caesar (crisp, fresh & perfect), tomato and mozzarella salad, (balsamic glaze-tasty trio of flavors) and our main courses. We enjoyed softshell crabs and a generous serving of grilled salmon. The fish was offered with a beet glaze and wonderful summer corn on the side. My other half enjoyed the soft shell and remarked that it was especially oversized and delicious. Tarbell‘s has a superstar craft cocktail magician behind the bar named Mikey. Mikey mixed up a barrel aged Manhattan along with a cucumber margarita. We toasted and decided that we were in the very best place to kick off our a weekend!
The food was amazing as well as the service. We can not wait to go again!

Not impressed. They seem to be resting on their laurels. Perhaps used to once be a great restaurant. Now struggles to even be average. Food-average to below average. Service-average. Doubt I will return.
We have been dining at Tarbell's for many years, and happy when they reopened. The entire staff makes you feel comfortable amid the Covid-19, by wearing masks and gloves. The food was outstanding, as Mark continues to create exciting, and delicious new dishes.
A neighborhood gem.
The food has always been unique, with a wonderful variety and beautiful presentation. The hardest part is deciding. There is something for every palate.
They have a fabulous wone list, both by the glass and bottle.
Perfect for a date night or a couples get-together. There is a romantic quality that we enjoy. Every meal here seems celebratory.

We had a fantastic meal at Tarbell's this weekend. They are taking all Covid-19 precautions, all staff wore masks. We sipped a couple of Old Fashioneds, which were balanced & refreshing. I ordered the pan-seared halibut which was cooked perfectly. My partner enjoyed his cheeseburger and shoestring fries (one of the few places that knows what "shoestring" means!!) Mr. Tarbell came to the table to say hello, he's always so wonderful, it was a great highlight. Thank you to the staff for taking great care of us!

First time out after reopening and we loved the new tables and space! So nice to be back.
I was so thrilled when I feasted my eyes, and then my taste buds, on the fresh Maryland soft shelled crab, that I actually cried. Served with saffron, jasmine rice, tomato coulis, spinach and preserved lemon sauce, the two jumbo crustaceans were lightly coated with a tempura that was ethereal, which one dictionary describes as "extremely delicate and light in a way that seems too perfect for this world." I couldn't say it better myself!

One of the best meals I’ve had in a very long time. Amazing service, knowledgeable staff and incredible food. The rock shrimp was to die for and the halibut was incredible!!
The food was incredible and service was impeccable! Ingredients are local and ultra-fresh, and every menu item looked delicious. Every necessary precaution was taken due to COVID-19, yet the ambiance and atmosphere were warm and welcoming. The Chef even came to our table to say hello. Such a wonderful experience, will definitely return soon!

The Halibut was the most perfectly cooked piece of fish I have ever had. Crispy on the outside, perfect medium in the middle. A Great dish!

Excellent restaurant, which I have been to many times. Chef Tarbell did an excellent job of modifying the restaurant environment to adjust to our current pandemic. Will continue to go to this restaurant in the future. By the way, the lamb chops and roasted mushrooms were excellent!

Superb restaurant. Great wine list. The halibut was amazing. The only negative was that the chairs at the high top tables were very uncomfortable. Overall Grade A experience though.

I ordered a dish that I didn’t really care for but Josh our waiter was terrific and took great care of us. My friend loved the salmon.
Probably the best food in town! Everything is fresh and local (I saw a local gardener drop off heirloom tomatoes right from his garden). I couldn't decide between two dishes so they let me do half order of each .... first of the season soft-shell crab and a fresh veggie dish. Together they were the perfect meal! Bartender recommended an after-dinner drink I have never had before and it was amazing.
Mark made us feel safe and at home!

The food at Tarbell's is delicious. They take advantage of local and seasonal ingredients to mix up the menu while keeping the staples like salmon and chicken. Wine list is excellent. Wait staff extremely professional. Very clean and safe environment, well spaced tables and all staff wearing masks. One of the few restaurants where I feel comfortable currently.
Halibut was excellent, however the risotto was more like paste and the grey/green blobs of eggplant looked more (and tasted) like baby food. Order the halibut with something else. Otherwise evening was outstanding.
Awesome as usual. So glad to get to go back out to dinner at Tarbell’s.
