Too expensive and not worth it ,food is not good and service was terrible.
One of my favourites. The chicken mushroom crepes are a must.
Amazing food, great staff, awesome live music...you can't go wrong!
We loved Taras Bulba. Lovely people. Delicious, authentic dishes. Cute and cozy atmosphere. Can't wait to return
I visited on a week night and arrived a little after 6 with a reservation. It took them 15 minutes just to bring water and take my drink order, and then I had to wait quite a long time for the drink. They seemed to only have 2 wait staff, and 1 was tied up with a large party. The people next to me had been waiting a long time for their food. When the food did arrive, they did not get my side dish correct, and I had to wait a bit longer to fix it. The food was just ok - nothing special. Definitely will not recommend.
Went there for dinner with my boyfriend. Atmosphere was great. Food was delicious as well as specialty cocktails. Thank you so much. wish we could live closer so we could come back more often.
Great evening , the best infused vodka in town . Always delicious food , service and ambiance !
Good Ukrainian food for home-sick and those wanting to learn about Ukraine. Food is pretty authentic, and decor is as well. Would recommend!
Great meal and fun cultural event. The music gets everyone dancing.
Pretty cool restaurant authentic Ukrainian food. Easy to hold a conversation.
I love Ukrainian & Russian food and Taras Bulba is a good one. However, this was my 4th visit and almost half of menu was not available. Kiev Chicken was very dry and service was much slower than before. Prices are way expensive for this class of restaurant they should drop each item at least $2-3 such as $15/16 for a small plate Vereniki is too much. It is almost a main plate price for similar restaurants.
So glad I found this place . My Ukrainian friend was visiting from Portland so I wanted to treat her with a taste from her country. We settled in and were immediately greeted by our friendly hostess. Upon entering you feel like you are being invited into someone's home. The infused vodka was amazing. We ordered the most traditional dishes and were immediately transported into grandmas kitchen. The food from the borscht to the traditional dumplings with sour cream were to die for. Anything they brought out we devoured. I recommend you try this place at least once and you will be hooked on this cuisine. Overall I was pleased with the authenticity of the flavors and the friendly staff.
We were happy to find this lovely place. The prices are a bit steep, but that may reflect Soho rents. Everything we ordered was delicious, authentic and beautifully presented. And the staff is very pleasant, knowing and helpful. Looking forward to returning.
Too bad it is permanently closed now
Probably the most authentic Ukrainian cuisine I found in the city. They have an extensive choice of vodka shots. Service is attentive and prices are moderate.
Great place with authentic food. People friendly. Love it
Excelente! Estuvimos 1 semana en NY y elegimos repetir este restaurante por la buena experiencia!
Excelente manejo del sabor
Very disappointing food. Poor quality ingredients, no flavor. Chicken Kiev looked like the real thing, but had no flavor, neither the chicken nor the butter inside (that's what they said it was). Chicken Kebab was inedible remnants of a chicken.
Get the flavored vodka
Stellar place. Most Ukrainian feel than any Uki restaurant I've been too. Will go again!!!
This is a great Ukrainian restaurant. I celebrated a number of family events there. Great service, great, food, great ambiance. Highly recommended.
This is a great Ukranian/Russian cuisine. Very tasty! As a native Russian I enjoy coming here to eat my national food. Great decor! I would recommend to anyone who is interested to try Ukrainian/Russian food. Don't be scared of unusual items on the menu! :) Try them all!
I was looking forward to going to Taras Bulba for a good Ukranian Meal and I had several things on the menu that I wanted to try. We got there right at 12 for lunch when it opened. However, when I tried to order the Stroganofff I was told that "we had a busy night last night, we're out."
This seems sort of unexcusable as that is usually one of the most common and most popular dishes at a restaurant like this. I get it if it's the end of the night and you sold out, but it was the start of the service, you should have had time to replenish your supplies.
Then I went with my backup order and asked for the veal stew, only to be told that they were sold out of that too!
I was left floundering and ended up ordering stuff that I didn't even really want. I got the borscht and the dumplings. The borscht was good. The dumplings also were tasty but the portion was pretty skimpy for 15 bucks.
All in all, a disappointing experience and I don't think I'll be coming back to this restaurant.
Authentic Ukrainian food and very good service. Little bit expensive.
Just like mom's Ukrainian. Excellent food. Pricey for what it is, but in the end worth it.
Absolutely delicious food, fantastic service. My third time there and it gets better and better every time.
Delicious food and great service. Will go back.
Not being an expert in Ukrainian cuisines, Taras Bulba was a great place to experience it. The staff all in traditional attire, the atmosphere definitely transported me out of NYC. The potato pancakes are great! Portions are great for sharing. My husband and I went over brunch, it was quiet, spacious, great for families or with friends. The service is great, young staff and attentive.
Recommended for Ukrainian food. Since my grandmother was from Ukraine, I wanted to compare to her recipes. All food was EXCELLENT, and Max (our waiter) was very helpful in selecting choices and customs of the food. Borscht tasted just like Grandma's, so I know I'm preparing the recipe justice.
Can't wait to go back!
Great authentic Ukraine food in the heart of Soho, I was there for the first time and was happy to taste old dishes from Ukraine. I really missed this and will go back for sure!
We had a great time at Taras Bulba. The food was fabulous, the atmosphere fun, the value delivered was great.
The best food and service . Dasha is the nicest and most professional hostess. It was just a joy
It is like a piece of Ukraine: the decor, waitstaff in traditional costume, the authentic dishes. Friendly and attentive staff. Nice dining experience.
Food was excellent and authentic. Possibly the best shuba I've ever had. Fried potato with sour cream also excellent, dumplings were good. However way too pricey. We only ordered 1 alcoholic drink and two regular beverages and the total came out to so much.
While the atmosphere and food were good and authentic, the prices were excessive and took away any element of a real "korchma."
Place is very overpriced. Not all food is tasty and was loud as for 3 tables in use. Most of noise waiter was making.
Very nice and cozy. That was the fourth time I went there and again liked it very much. Will keep going there.
Great authentic Ukrainian food! I recommend it, you won't regret it.
Authentic Ukranian/Russian food in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Some open air seating, weather permitting. Infused horseradish vodka, which they do with a little honey, is the best I've had anywhere.
