The service was very understaffed. Had to wait awhile for a our wine and beer orders, even though the restaurant was less than a third full. My dinner meat was heaped I top of noodles than had congealed together making them enedible .
We had reservations booked for 7:15 on Saturday. When we showed up (at 7:15) there was a 30-45 min wait to be seated for our 7:15 reservation. I get it that things get backed up, but there was really no explaination given and we were basically told that we needed to hang around the hostess desk so she could call our name. We politely told her that we would go to the bar and wait there. Then, about 30 minutes later we went to check on the status, and the hostess was seating a 7:30 reservation ahead of us. Again, I guess it wasn’t that big of a deal, but still pretty unprofessional when you have earlier reservation times waiting that showed up at their reserved time. The waitress was great, but the kitchen did lose our appetizer order, so they ended up coming out pretty much the same time as the main course. We had also left a comment when making our reservation on Open Table and no one had mentioned it the entire evening. The food was excellent as always, but with all of the other things that happened, I’d be hard pressed to go back anytime soon. The experience was not worth the price of our final bill.
This was 2nd time at Tarantelli's. Great place . The filet mignon/bruschetta app is amazing. It is enough for two. If you order something else you missed out. Have had both their streak and pasta both were terrific. Wife had a seafood special and steak. She enjoyed both. Great menu with a flavor of the old country while presenting a Southern Charm ambiance.
Unfortunately our first visit here was not good. Made reservations for 6:30 but didn’t get seated until 7 and it was in the bar. Placed an order for appetizer, salad and entree. After finishing the first two we waited another thirty minutes only to be told that our entree order was never started. When we asked for our check so we could just go home without getting the entree the waiter gallantly told us that the entree was taken off the bill. Like he had done us a favor?
I sense that while the food may be good the wait staff and kitchen are poorly managed.
Fantastic authentic food and nobody left hungry, even the picky eater. They were extremely busy with 2 big events downtown and still managed to provide excellent personal service.
Extremely slow service. Ordered a bottle of wine and appetizer and told our server we had a show to go to. It took 30 minutes before our wine came out...and an hour and fifteen minutes before our food came out.
Went for V day with wife. Excellent as usual!
Absolutely; we asked two of our friends to join us on Valentines day; they called us the next evening stating how they really enjoyed their food and the overall experience. MY wife and I are repeat visitors to Tarantelli's and I've always ordered the same dish. Last time I had the scallops over risotto and what a dish. Their chef has talent.
I would recommend because food was tasty however be prepared for overpriced cocktails and entree’s. The service was ok but we felt rushed at some point and also lost our waitress when we wanted to order another drink.
The best Italian food in WIlmington. Great ambiance, excellent service, absolutely delicious food.
Good atmosphere. Loved the broccoli rabe and the filet bruschetta was great. Our server had a great attitude and had some nice suggestions.
Great food in a lovely setting. Staff is friendly and attentive. Not too noisy even if crowded.
Very nice, great food . We love it and dine there every time we are in Wilmington. Never disappointed.
Took my Wife here for her 50th birthday, this was our 2nd time. We love it there, food and service were outstanding. Hannah was our server and she was very professional and fun. When you go you must have their cheese wheel!!! Outstanding date/birthday with my wife
Was hoping for a memorable dining experience. Was rushed with food being brought to the table top soon (was still enjoying appetizer when server said are food was up and she need to clear the table to make room
Perfect all around.
We had excellent service and the food was outstanding!
The reason I’m not giving this restaurant more stars has to do with service. We had a reservation, and the restaurant was not at all crowded. It was later in the evening, and there were very few table seated. Although we were seated promptly, we were completely and totally ignored. So much so that we got up, took our menus, headed into the bar and sat at the bar. No one approached us and said hey what’s up with that? Literally no one gave a damn. However, once we sat down at the bar, the whole vibe changed. We went from being completely ignored by restaurant employees-who walked by our table in the dining room made eye contact and gave us the stare of the living dead - to receiving absolute first-rate service at the bar. We ordered a bottle of wine and a martini, which was perfectly made. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and helpful about items on the menu and made some recommendations, which we took, and were very happy that we did so. Once our food arrived, it was delicious. The sauce actually tasted like my great-grandmothers-and that’s the highest compliment I can give it. The pasta was perfectly cooked. Everything was fresh and delicious. Bottom line: sit in the bar.
Great food& service
This was out first visit and we had an outstanding server, James. The menu was full of delicious options from Fish to Beef to pasta to salads. All very creative but any item could be customized to your liking. Live sax player in the other room made for a really nice atmosphere. All in all, a real gem in ILM!!!!
Love this place for really good Italian food. Great ambiance- the brick walls and the lighting create a relaxed atmosphere with no snobbery. Friendly staff. Usually go for the baked ziti which is the best around, but had the short rib with broccoli rabe special and was delicious. Will be back again for sure.
Service and food were incredible! I highly recommend the sea scallops and the spinach. One of the best meals I have ever had the pleasure to experience. I travel worldwide for my work so I am comparing this restaurant to some of the finest internationally, not just in Wilmington.
Enjoyed dinner. You are able to get half portions at dinner which I really enjoyed!
Always good. Outstanding service wonderful atmosphere
Our gang thoroughly enjoyed Tarantelli’s, from the greeting by one of the owners upon our arrival to check service at the end of the meal and everything in between. It was a later dinner (8:00), which can sometimes be annoying for the serving and kitchen staff especially on a quiet night like this one, but our server seemed genuinely pleased that we were there, and he offered great wine suggestions, shared his favorite dishes with us, and provided us with a great dining experience. What can I say about the food other than we all commented about the simple yet complex flavors of everything we ate. And we ate the gamut...homemade ravioli, brescoala, Vitello Marsala, the bistecca special for the night, calamari, and the spinach and artichoke dip. We even had the pleasure of watching someone getting the tableside service for the pasta prepared in a wheel of Parmigiana Reggiana....spectacular! Also, the background music was old-school Italian crooners which really added to the overall vibe. None of us ate dessert, so I can’t speak to that, but we did enjoy quite a bit of their wine!!! Delicious!
You must stop in here if you are in Wilmington!
The food, as always, is very good. One of the only legitimate Italian restaurants in the area. However, this is the second time that service hasn't been as equally good. The waitress was good and knowledgable but wished she was more attentive regarding our drinks (had to pause eating until we got our bottle of wine we had ordered, which we didn't have a chance to order until our entrees were brought out).
All in all, I would still recommend the restaurant to anyone that wanted amazing Italian but with an upscale atmosphere.
Drink order took over 20 minutes placed at the table. Rest of the experience was very good. Bar tender was very helpful.
Ambiance was the best part, we had 5:30 reservations and we not seated till 6:15pm and the host clearly forgot about us until we had to go back and remind him. The waitress was not very good she didn’t come back to check to see if we needed refills on drinks
We had to flag her down. There were 4 of us and we didn’t want appitizers so two couples split house salads there was a 2 dollar up charge to split two small salads! The prices were high but that wasn’t a worry till we saw some portions were small. Very disappointed 🙁
Beautiful restaurant with romantic ambiance. However, service was slow and food was average at best. Had reservations at 5:30. Arrived about 10 minutes early. We were told to wait in the bar until 5:30, which seemed odd because it appeared many tables were available. We didn’t mind that. However the cocktails were weak. Then time to get our food was about 1 hour. My husband ordered the short rib ravioli special. Neither of us liked it. I ordered a salmon salad, which was average. Our two friends said they enjoyed their entrees. The meatball appetizer was good.
This restaurant had a 2 $ rating for its pricing. It should be more like 3 $$ or higher. We went with 4 people, shared 1 appetizer, had 1 chick parm, 1 sausage and pasta, 2 shrimp and pasta, 3 sherbet, 1 coffee, 2 cokes and the bill was $173.00 not including tip. Add 20% and you’re looking at $208 or $52 each for food that I would rate as fair and NO alcohol or beer or wine. That is NOT a 2 $ restaurant even if the food was better than fair. If you plan to have 1 glass of wine, you are closer to $60 each. The price rating should be changed so people know what to expect; that is the point of the price rating, correct?
All 6 of us enjoyed our meals and were very pleased with everything about this restaurant. Quantities were quite generous.
It was my second time, and it did not disappoint. I was excited to share it with my friend who we enjoy nice restaurants. And she was very pleased as well. It was quiet it was efficient it was tasty it was special and we got to the theater on time. I would highly recommend it and the wait staff knows exactly what to recommend for what you're hungry for. They have seafood and salads and pasta and Tiramisu is not to be missed.
We went for dinner New Years Eve and the food was amazing. We all shared dishes around because everything we had from starters to dessert was so delicious we had to share.
Came here because we wanted authentic Italian food. We both were very disappointed with all of our food. The caprese salad was a joke and the Ravioli was supposed to be fresh pasta, as a gourmet cook myself, I know my pasta. This was homemade at some point but was definitely old or thawed out. If you are lokkng for Americanized Italian food, this place may be for you.
Must get the Filet Bruscetta!!! Ambience was amazing, beautiful, romantic decor! Great for date night.
The male hostess was very welcoming and friendly. Made us feel like family. Really enjoyed that.
This is my second dinner at Tarantellis. This is a nice restaurant if you are not in a hurry. Dinner is not rushed. The menu is fairly standard Italian but well done. The Christmas decor was classy and fit the restaurant well.
Our favorite Restaurant in all of Wilmington.
They got their chef back from Denver , life is good
Our family went to Tarantelli's for the first time on Christmas eve. We are really happy we chose to go there. Everything was exceptional from the time we entered until the time we left including the service, ambience, appetizers, main course, and dessert. We will return soon.
