This was our first time at Taranta, and we loved it! Our waiter was fantastic, the food came out at a perfect, relaxed, pace. And, most importantly, everything was delicious! We’ll definitely be back again soon.
Nice reservation process and very accommodating to my request to have a window seat. Great food and excellent service. Ambiance is very elegant and quite.
Strongly recommend it for business or special occasion.
The “special” fish entree was a fish from the Amazon I believe served with rabe and couscous. The home made ravioli was also outstanding. Well worth the trip.
Not what it used to be
Very enjoyable dinner with very knowledgeable service.
WE enjoyed out meal, after requesting to sit upstairs. Nice, reasonable Savignon Blanc, though not from New Zealand. Enjoyed the salad, mussels were outstanding, and meatballs were good. Best entrees were the mixed fish dish and the pappardelle with mushrooms. Chicken was very good as was Paiche. Too full for dessert. Sometimes it was hard to find out waiter, though he was sweet when he was around.
The food is great tasting comfort food prepared to perfection with tantalizing accents.
We were very lucky to find a restaurant in the north end that could accommodate 8 people with short notice. The food was good not great. Service was good not great. Price was high for good food and good service.
I made reservations, and despite the restaurant being 1/2 empty, we were seated upstairs next to a large table of very loud people. The waiter was very nice, but he was the only waiter on the floor, so getting some attention was impossible. When we finaly were served, the food was very good. The prices were very high compared to other similar restaurants in the North End. 3 stars overall.
Creative, wonderful food. Small place, quiet. Exactly what a restaurant should be!
Chef Jose Duarte create an spectacular Aji de gallina Raviolis Brilliant, serve with aji de gallina sause and walnuts, a quarter of boil egg and olive as a garnish.
Also we had the new dish in the menu that got my attention two days ago very interesting conbination, Again Chef Jose Duarte and his brilliant interpretation of creative combination of one of the oldest corn in the world knows as cancha with tomatoes and other peruvian and Italian favors here is the: Pollo Parmigiana Peruviano
Cancha corn breaded all natural chicken breast topped with a panca pomodoro sauce and huacatay mozzarella, served with artisan fusilli pasta!!!!
Of course few Cuzquenas Beers and Pisco Sour! Chardonay wine for appetizer we had Calzoncini Fritti great starters
A trio of mini calzoni stuffed with leeks and mozzarella, beef tenderloin and baccala.
Nice place with a lovely concept of having Italian food with a Peruvian twist, friendly staff and good vibes.
I recommend this place
So yummy and fresh! Different twist in the typical north end Italian restaurant
I had the lobster ravioli and it was delicious! Definitely will go back!
Delicious spin on traditional Italian food, with Peruvian accents. Attentive service, nice wine list, lots of dishes for everyone's preferences.
Great food, great service -- a bit drafty on first floor
Great dinner. Atmosphere is romantic if not a little on the loud size when the upstairs dining room was full.
Food was excellent, started with meatballs. Nice spicy, garlicky sauce.
Wife had the lobster rav, I had the tagletelle special with HUGE chunks of lobster, scallops, and mussels. Both excellent.
Enjoyed that with a bottle of a Super Tuscan.
Overall, 5 stars. Great job
I have had two very different experiences at Taranta. The first time I went there, things were good. Which accounts for why I was happy to return. This last time, I was quite disappointed. Hopefully, this review will help people with dietary restrictions. Based on my first visit and a look at the menu, I thought I was going to have enough dairy-free and gluten-free options to have a satisfying meal. The truth is that almost all of their vegetables and ALL of their sauces are cooked with butter. Unlike other restaurants, they cannot make a vegetable or a sauce on the spot without butter. I didn't completely explore their pasta sauces, but the ones that I asked about had butter in them, as well. This left me with a $39 filet mignon on a SMALL bed of escarole. I eat much less than I used to. I'm usually too full when I leave a restaurant. I left hungry planning which supermarket to visit to satiate my stomach. Side note - you know it's a bad sign when multiple staff insist that there are eggs in their food and they do not understand that dairy products are made from milk.
We had looked at their regular menu and were really impressed with the Italian/Peruvian blend, and so decided to go here on Valentine's Day.
I... wouldn't recommend going on a holiday to Taranta. The tasting menu was lackluster, the food was only alright and too heavily salted (extremely disappointing given the price of the pre-fixe menu, and was proportionally more expensive than going on a regular night and ordering roughly the same food), and not nearly as interesting or unique as what's on the regular menu.
We'd like to go back and give the normal menu a try, but definitely recommend giving it a pass on holiday nights.
I expected more of the food quality, nothing was bad, but also nothing was great about their menu.
This is such a unique spot in the North End. Clever, hearty dishes that marry Peruvian and Italian cuisine. Personable staff, cozy environment, and great value for the money.
The best mussels ever. The combination of Peruvian and Italian elements are outstanding. Especially love the coffee crusted beef.
We had a lovely anniversary dinner! Memorable!
Great meal as always. Loved the fried calzone appetizers and lobster ravioli! My wife got the yuca gnocchi. Lamb ragu was killer!
We made 7:00 pm reservations for a Friday evening dinner and we were greeted and seated immediately. The food was superior from the appetizer plate for 2, to the amazingly delicious cheese cake and cappuccino dessert & coffee. I had the double pork chop which was enough for 4, perfectly prepared and wonderful. (Both for dinner Friday AND lunch Saturday!) My wife enjoyed her hand cut pappardelle pasta in a Puccini mushroom sauce. Also easily enough for at least 2 and amazingly good. Still not sure which of us had the better dinner. If there were any negatives, they were the noise level was loud and the main first floor dining room was cold with a constant bluster of ice cold air every time the door opened. They hung a curtain to attempt to block the wind and cold but still permeated through the dining room. Bottom line, the pluses far outweighed the negatives as our reason for going was to enjoy excellent cuisine and they excelled in their endeavor.

such a delicious mix of peruvian and italian food, good specials, and pretty great wine list!
The Paiche Amazone (fish) was fantastic. Portions were just right. There were only 2 other groups eating so we could hear each other talk and service was prompt. We will go again
Very nice option for the North End. Creative dishes including a Peruvian touch. Italian dishes gnocchi and seafood ravioli were excellent. Didn’t order the Pork Chop but it looked enticing on another table. We will return again especially because the menu changes often.
Great experience! The salmon was outstanding! the service amaizing!
The octopus appetizer was delicious!
I have been visiting Taranta since 2007 when I first moved to Boston. Every meal is just as delicious as the last! Thank you!
Have usually been quite pleased with the dining here. This time my salad was so salty as to be completely inedible and my mushroom pasta dish was somewhat bland (as if the first course had too much and the second too little). My spouse's meal was good so I'm not sure what happened to mine.
Great service. Our waiter was amazing. We celebrated New Year evening. Great table on the 2nd floor next to the window. Great food.
Delicious food, good wine selection and superb service. A bit noisy due to loud group next to us.
A fun server; quaint and close space in the north end; the mussels are like French onion soup meets the sea and it’s amazing; all dishes were full of taste and well plated.
I brought my in laws for a total party of 5. It’s a tight squeeze once it gets busy, but worth it.
Great Peruvian food, with delicious typical ingredients and authentic recipes, in a very friendly atmosphere! Recommended bij my friend Pilar Martinez Woodman - thanks!
Pricey but the food was outstanding. Really glad we went and will go again. Paiche de amazon, lamb shank, salmon, and the special ravioli were all super tasty and unique. Really liked the decor and ambiance, busy but not noisy and I do not like noisy restaurants- this was very pleasant experience all around.
Amazing food, we went to celebrate a birthday and we were at awwe with everything the food & service was amazing. I have many food allergies which it’s always a concern when going to restaurant but our server went over the top and was super accommodating. Dessert amazing. We truly had an amazing experience an can’t wait to go back.
Taranta is a lovely restrauant. Great atmosphere and food. A bit pricey but worth it.
It was extremely noisy and we felt the appetizer and both meals were very salty. However great wine selection, and service was very very good! Menu was great as well just wish the food hadn’t been so salty!
