Great food! Amazing service!
Mussels, pork chop, crab meat salad was all delicious. Food was very good. We were a party of 8 and it took a long time for our meals to come out. Otherwise all was great.
Food was chewy and tasteless....bread was stale and tasteless served with plain olive oil/ Service was good and people friendly. I guess i would give it a so so rating. I had mushroom pasta with a little truffle oil served with long, thick chewy noodles and the mushrooms were chewy and tasted stale... wine was good but a very small cheap pour as well.
The service, presentation and food where terrific. Enjoyed the experience.
Excellent dinner menu. Great wait staff. Highly recommended!
We had the pappardelle con fungi (definitely recommend their fresh cut pasta), an Italian-Peruvian fish special from the Amazon (deliciously cooked but lightly seasoned) and the meridionale appetizer.
With the exception of the appetizer, I was quite impressed with the food. The appetizer is not itemized but rather listed as a spread of southern Italian delights - in reality it’s the deli meats, cheese, and vegetables (like artichokes and asparagus) that you could find in any Italian mother or nonna’s kitchen and is not specific to southern Italy in any way shape or form, so if you are Italian I do not recommend ordering it. However my non-Italian dining partner was impressed.
The service was attentive and not at all crowded on a Wednesday night. Just be careful of Sox games if driving or taking a ride share.
The food and service was great. The menu is an interesting mix of Peruvian and Italian food with mostly peruvian. The antipasto was a hit as well as the macadamia encrusted salmon and the lobster ravioli with shrimp on top. The general pasta with red sauce was ok. We also had a peruvian appetizer of a cold mashed potato cake with crabmeat and avocado. Too much potato. And needed more seasoning. They don't have a full bar. I would come back.
The food was delicious and cooked perfectly! Everyone loved what they ordered: shrimp appetizer, salads, trout, salmon, chicken parmesan and pappardelle with truffle oil and mushrooms. The service was friendly and attentive. There was a large and lively group seated next to us, so the place was noisy until they left. They do pack a lot of tables into a small space, but we got used to it after a short while. They have two floors of seating so be sure to request the ground floor if stairs are challenging. I can't wait to go back to have more of everything!!!
Thank you for your wonderful review! We are so glad that you enjoyed your dining experience, and we hope to see you again soon!
Came here tonight from NY to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday with 6 of our friends and so glad we did.
Everything was outstanding, each dish was so different and did I mention delicious. The oooohhhs and ahhhhs were non stop.
Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a unique place.
Thank you for your review, and for traveling so far to join us for dinner! We are so happy you enjoyed everything!
The four of us were recommended to eat at this restaurant for dinner and we were not disappointed.
The service was excellent (our waiter was from Venezuela). The food was delicious and plenty of it. Overall, a wonderful experience.
I would highly rate this place.
The food and service were outstanding! We had a nice table upstairs where the noise level was low; we were able to enjoy our table conversations. The flavors of the food were authentic (perfectly seasoned). We were very pleased and satisfied with our entire experience! Nowadays, when going out to eat can be pricey, it's important to know your experience will be top notch.
Excellent experience enhanced by the wait staff. Food and drink was second to none. Our go to spot in Boston.
The staff and customer service was outstanding. There was an issue with one time and they apologized profusely and did everything they could to rectify the problem. The lobster ravioli was amazing.
Great pre-game meal prior to the Bruin's game. Our waiter was aware of our timeframe and kept us on task with ordering. The food was delicious. A little loud in the ground level room.
I ordered a salmon entree. First, the kitchen did not prepare my order. Then the salmon was way over-cooked. It was so dry, I ate little of it. The waiter did not check on us frequently enough. When I explained the issue and said I did not want a replacement, there was not an offer to take it off the bill. Instead, I was asked how to make up for it. I asked for cannoli, which is cheaper than the entree. I asked the waiter to explain the problem to the kitchen. Who know if he did. I will not eat there again.
This was our first time at Taranta, and we loved it! Our waiter was fantastic, the food came out at a perfect, relaxed, pace. And, most importantly, everything was delicious! We’ll definitely be back again soon.
Very good. Will definitely be back. Want to try so many things on the menu. Yum!
Nice reservation process and very accommodating to my request to have a window seat. Great food and excellent service. Ambiance is very elegant and quite.
Strongly recommend it for business or special occasion.
The “special” fish entree was a fish from the Amazon I believe served with rabe and couscous. The home made ravioli was also outstanding. Well worth the trip.
Not what it used to be
Very enjoyable dinner with very knowledgeable service.
WE enjoyed out meal, after requesting to sit upstairs. Nice, reasonable Savignon Blanc, though not from New Zealand. Enjoyed the salad, mussels were outstanding, and meatballs were good. Best entrees were the mixed fish dish and the pappardelle with mushrooms. Chicken was very good as was Paiche. Too full for dessert. Sometimes it was hard to find out waiter, though he was sweet when he was around.
The food is great tasting comfort food prepared to perfection with tantalizing accents.
We were very lucky to find a restaurant in the north end that could accommodate 8 people with short notice. The food was good not great. Service was good not great. Price was high for good food and good service.
I made reservations, and despite the restaurant being 1/2 empty, we were seated upstairs next to a large table of very loud people. The waiter was very nice, but he was the only waiter on the floor, so getting some attention was impossible. When we finaly were served, the food was very good. The prices were very high compared to other similar restaurants in the North End. 3 stars overall.
Creative, wonderful food. Small place, quiet. Exactly what a restaurant should be!
Chef Jose Duarte create an spectacular Aji de gallina Raviolis Brilliant, serve with aji de gallina sause and walnuts, a quarter of boil egg and olive as a garnish.
Also we had the new dish in the menu that got my attention two days ago very interesting conbination, Again Chef Jose Duarte and his brilliant interpretation of creative combination of one of the oldest corn in the world knows as cancha with tomatoes and other peruvian and Italian favors here is the: Pollo Parmigiana Peruviano
Cancha corn breaded all natural chicken breast topped with a panca pomodoro sauce and huacatay mozzarella, served with artisan fusilli pasta!!!!
Of course few Cuzquenas Beers and Pisco Sour! Chardonay wine for appetizer we had Calzoncini Fritti great starters
A trio of mini calzoni stuffed with leeks and mozzarella, beef tenderloin and baccala.
Nice place with a lovely concept of having Italian food with a Peruvian twist, friendly staff and good vibes.
I recommend this place
So yummy and fresh! Different twist in the typical north end Italian restaurant
I had the lobster ravioli and it was delicious! Definitely will go back!
Delicious spin on traditional Italian food, with Peruvian accents. Attentive service, nice wine list, lots of dishes for everyone's preferences.
Great food, great service -- a bit drafty on first floor
Great dinner. Atmosphere is romantic if not a little on the loud size when the upstairs dining room was full.
Food was excellent, started with meatballs. Nice spicy, garlicky sauce.
Wife had the lobster rav, I had the tagletelle special with HUGE chunks of lobster, scallops, and mussels. Both excellent.
Enjoyed that with a bottle of a Super Tuscan.
Overall, 5 stars. Great job
I have had two very different experiences at Taranta. The first time I went there, things were good. Which accounts for why I was happy to return. This last time, I was quite disappointed. Hopefully, this review will help people with dietary restrictions. Based on my first visit and a look at the menu, I thought I was going to have enough dairy-free and gluten-free options to have a satisfying meal. The truth is that almost all of their vegetables and ALL of their sauces are cooked with butter. Unlike other restaurants, they cannot make a vegetable or a sauce on the spot without butter. I didn't completely explore their pasta sauces, but the ones that I asked about had butter in them, as well. This left me with a $39 filet mignon on a SMALL bed of escarole. I eat much less than I used to. I'm usually too full when I leave a restaurant. I left hungry planning which supermarket to visit to satiate my stomach. Side note - you know it's a bad sign when multiple staff insist that there are eggs in their food and they do not understand that dairy products are made from milk.
We had looked at their regular menu and were really impressed with the Italian/Peruvian blend, and so decided to go here on Valentine's Day.
I... wouldn't recommend going on a holiday to Taranta. The tasting menu was lackluster, the food was only alright and too heavily salted (extremely disappointing given the price of the pre-fixe menu, and was proportionally more expensive than going on a regular night and ordering roughly the same food), and not nearly as interesting or unique as what's on the regular menu.
We'd like to go back and give the normal menu a try, but definitely recommend giving it a pass on holiday nights.
I expected more of the food quality, nothing was bad, but also nothing was great about their menu.
This is such a unique spot in the North End. Clever, hearty dishes that marry Peruvian and Italian cuisine. Personable staff, cozy environment, and great value for the money.
The best mussels ever. The combination of Peruvian and Italian elements are outstanding. Especially love the coffee crusted beef.
We had a lovely anniversary dinner! Memorable!
Great meal as always. Loved the fried calzone appetizers and lobster ravioli! My wife got the yuca gnocchi. Lamb ragu was killer!
