It’s our go to Italian restaurant. Friendly place
The food and service were fantastic. We didn’t know what a tiny place it is until we were inside, and the music was blaring. But when we asked, they kindly turned down the volume (twice).
We were disappointed that there was no liquor and just wine. We were both looking forward to a martini. When we did order wine, the four was so small. I’ve never had such a small pourw in my life! The hostess was very hostile and we almost walked out! We were glad that we stay because it was the licious and the server was also very nice and attentive
We did not stay to eat so I can’t comment on the food. However I have walked by the restaurant many times remarking at its charming ambiance. Booked a reservation for Sunday, and this charming Italian restaurant had been turned into a super bowl sports bar, multiple screens, screaming kids, and poor ventilation. If I’d wanted a sports bar, I would have gone to a sports bar to watch the game. Sadly, when booking the open table reservation there was zero mention of this change in dining atmosphere. We promptly left.
The food was decent while the service was outstanding!
I saw that this place has a perfect rating and got curious about it. The food was incredible, charred octopus was #1 favorite, so delicious. Bone marrow, saffron risotto was delicious and nice size portion. Tiramisu was great, not too sweet. The bread that was bought to the table also stood out! It had nice size pieces of olives in it, so very good! The espresso that I got with dessert was very tasty, perfectly dialed in, not too bitter, not too sour. And since I went during restaurant week, the price was more than fair!
I discovered this place a month ago. It was two blocks from my hotel and I had a wonderful three course meal. It was a real discovery. So on my return trip to New York I went there again, this time with my wife, and our experience was also excellent. In fact, I just recommended it to a friend and we will have dinner there in three weeks on my next trip to New York. A wonderful restaurant in every way!
I tried Tarralucci for the first time last week on an overnight trip to NYC. I went solo--sometimes not a great experience in Manhattan--but this couldn't have been lovelier. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable, the staff greeted me with genuine friendliness, the food was exceptionally good (Try the gnocci with a glass of Barolo--perfect) and 3 courses were served with truly impeccable timing. I will definitely return. This place seems good for couples, and the bar crowd was having fun without intruding on the diners.
This was a warm, welcoming place and the mains were really good, albeit a little pricey. The sides were ok, as were the desserts. My favorites were the spaghetti and the steak.
Delicious fresh pasta!
We had a great experience there
Service was nice attentive and food very tasty
Good selection. Of wine too
Very nice and cozy restaurant. Very good food and service.
Dinner was absolutely delicious... Any reason why the bartender was seemingly pulverizing something during dinner service?
The grilled octopus is cooked to perfection! Tight focused menu, but every item is delicious and well prepared. Friend ambiance
One waiter for the entire restaurant and sub par food
Great food and value for money wine
Great service - frequent water refills, timely food delivery. Nice setting and open to street on a lovely night. Salad was solid and the meatballs were very good!
Nice place for lunch and good wine with a friend.
We were here for restaurant week, and had an outstanding three course dinner. The food is truly delicious and the portions appropriate.
poor food, overcooked, rotted fresh tomatoes( half the tomato was totally black) AND dirty dishes. It was embarrassing to have brought friends there
We tried it due to the Restaurant week promotion. Great pasta and seafood. Pleasant place and attentive staff . Definitely would return. Wines by the glass were on the expensive side
My husband and I dined here during restaurant week to kick off my birthday weekend. The wait staff was pleasant and the food was tasty and fresh. My octopus appetizer was a bit salty for my taste but everything else was great. Hubby loved all his choices. We would definitely recommend.
The waiter and hostess were very nice, knowledgeable and attentive. The food at dinner, however, was moderate at best. Dry octopus, pre-bought panda cotta. Really disappointing and much lower standard than their NoMad location.
Quiet place with outdoor tables in summer. Pleasant attentive staff.
Poor service. Very noisy even though it wasn't that crowded. We were served water that was so warm you could almost make tea with it! On a hot day some ice would have made a big difference. Then we were charged for food that we didn't order! Disappointed and won't go back.
The food was excellent and service was wonderful. Luckily we sat outside. The noise level inside was intolerable. No way anyone could have a conversation - and isn't socializing as well as dining what it's all about?
Taralucci et Vino never disappoints! it is one of my favorite restaurants in the City.
Feels like Italy....wonderful wines... they let you linger and enjoy. What some consider slow service I consider lovely. The half panini and soup is outstanding. Brunch is great. Everything is Euopean in feel... not a standard diner. The chicken is brined and is delicious.
I had three visitors from out of town and we had a wonderful meal. The food was excellent, the service was attentive but not rushed. I had the salmon which was nicely seasoned and perfectly cooked, however, the bed of Israeli couscous was the star. Unexpected and delicious. My friend has the lasagna and she said it was very good.
At Tarallucci one feels one is both in Italy and running into friends from a convent school in Westchester—both on the Upper West Side—in a restaurant created from a Subway Store.
Both pasta dishes excellent. Grilled octopus good. Dog-friendly seating most welcome!
The menu descriptions do not correspond to the dishes. Eg burrata grapes are not roasted, nor is there mint in the equation.
Excellent meal! Enjoyed the apps and loved the fregnacca with duck. Mmmm. Delicious. We also had the lasagna. What a delicious version. Desserts were also very good. Busy spot on a warm night. Lots of diners outside as well.
Lovely and personable hostess. We enjoyed talking with you! So sweet. We will return when in the neighborhood again and will try their other locations! Thank you.
An excellent and friendly spot to meet a friend for lunch. Also good for dinner with excellent wine selection.
First time at this restaurant for lunch with an out of town friend who was staying with her daughter nearby. It is quite small and got pretty noisy as it filled up with the Friday afternoon lunch crowd. The food was good - nothing spectacular - but good. What we found odd was that of the lunch entrees you could get either meatballs OR pasta but no option to have it together without ordering 2 entrees! The menu would be improved by the simple addition of a side order of pasta to go with their other sides. Good wine.
Delicious and simple food; great relaxed yet romantic vibe. The red wine from Trentino Alto Adige was so delicious. Portions are a bit small, but we were happy to have some room for the tiramisu and affogato!! I recommend the scallops, the lasagna, and the orecchiette with cauliflower. Yum!
Great vibe, good wine, mediocre food.
good neighborhood place to have a glass of wine at the end of the day.
The restaurant is small and unpretentious which this reviewer sees as a plus. The small restaurant spills into the community via a large sidewalk. This is a great metaphor for the food. Great traditional Italian food with with local flair. I mean great Italian food. The pasta is perfection both for the rich (but not overdone) sauces and al dente to perfection. The service was great. I minor mixup resulted in a comped dessert we would not have ordered. Goat cheese soufflé with a raspberry sorbet. I am still thinking about it. It was amazing. I highly recommend it. We will go back.
