They were out of a lot of the drinks we wanted, the service was really really slow and it was crowded and cramped. We didn't have a lot of room around our table.
The food service and atmosphere was very nice
I was impressed by the service!
They have happy hour all da long even on weekend
Definitely I'll come back!
In spite of making a reservation, we were seated on a high table that was in the most crowded pedestrian zone. While we accepted circumstance initially and placed our orders, there came a point where our personal space was invaded by someone (a man who was having conversations kept leaning back on my shoulders and make no point to apologize or acknowledge that he was entering my space). I brought this up to our server and asked her to kindly ask them to move as they were standing around and not in a stationary table like ours. Instead of doing this, she arranged for us to be moved to the table that is directly across from the entrance (resulting in a cold breeze hitting us every time someone entered and essentially being on display as we were the first thing everyone saw who entered). After dealing with this for 12 minutes (a period in which our drinks and food had yet to arrive), we asked to be moved again. The staff made a joke about the move (admissible) but made a comment about how all these moves resulted in them not being able to identify our order (mind you, I could speak to and see guests on either of the two previous tables from the third one). The food and drinks arrived (and they were ok) but when it came time to pay, I suffered further embarrassment. I pulled out an open table gift certificate and rather than simply know what it was and apply it, the server asked me what coupon I had and how much the discount was for. While there's nothing wrong with using coupons, I simply don't and the implication was embarrassing. Then after having to explain what it was, I asked him to put the tip on the bill (20%) and bring it back to us- in spite of experience, I always tip as I know salaries can be low. I would not recommend this place to anyone that is looking for an easy and relaxing night out- it's collegiate scene gives more of the pub feel but restaurant it is not.
A fun place to eat - we had a nice dinner here
The restaurant smelled of gas the entire time, and when we left, we smelled horribly of smoke. We asked why the smell was so strong, and they stated that "it was normal" from the kitchen. In addition, the salsa they brought us was marinara sauce, and honey mustard on the side (not kidding) and stale chips. Margs are 2-4-1 which is great, but they are mostly sugar/mix tasting.
The food is cheap (especially if you do the pre-fix) which is great. Just the quality parallels the price.
Definitely won't be returning.
I booked this relatively late in the week for a part of 13 on a Saturday night. The 2 for 1 margarita deal was great and the food was tasty. The staff was attentive and friendly, and it was a great spot for our big group to have a reunion!
This restuarant has friendly staff, great food, nice ambiance, and is a good value for the money. Highly recommended. You won't be disappointed!
This was really good but it wasn't italian as expected, it has been turned into a Mexican restaurant which was pretty good even if unexpected.
Food was mediocre and service so so. There was no air conditioning on a muggy day, which also made the experience less than pleasant. Wouldn't go back...
Food was awful and wine wasn't much better. Waitress was really nice, though, and chef was generally concerned that we weren't eating so, maybe he's willing to up his game a little.
The food is "decent" and the owner really tried hard to make up for the embarrassing situation (not having your reservation and not even knowing of OpenTable). When I arrived, the staff said I had "no reservation" and I referred to my OpenTable email confirmation. BUT... only owner knows how to use program and he was not there when we showed up. I'm stuck - if I leave -- I am a "no show" and get a warning from OpenTable.
Only go if you make a phone reservation - DO NOT USE OPENTABLE or you will get a no-show warning email and it's a pain. OpenTable operators, while nice, can't cancel your reservation here when you call them (even thought restaurant says they don't have it) - so you are stuck waiting to get a receipt to prove you showed up. This is a major OpenTable flaw that needs to be fixed ASAP.
Until Openable trains this place, or removes them - stay clear or use the phone to make your booking at this restaurant.
Great service! Cute little spot in the village- moderately priced and good food!
Great waiter, not so great food or wine.
We stopped into Gallo Nero II a few weeks ago on a whim and the service was excellent. We only had oysters and drinks, but thoroughly enjoyed the location and ambiance. This time we went back with another couple and received the same excellent service at a table with a great open air view of the busy Village street. Highly recommend.
It's an "Italian" place on busy Hudson Street. I didn't expect anything special. We had a great time, but this is not where to go if you actually want to eat well. I'm pretty sure there is no egg in the carbonara. The chicken breast was quite dry. The ladies at the table next to us said the mussel appetizer special was very nice, but our antipasto misto was a disappointment.
Service was pleasant, but not always attentive.
Lively atmosphere. If you have guests coming to New York who don't have refined palates, you could probably take them here and they would be happy. A bit expensive for what it is, but then, well...
I love the wine list. The food was delicious, I had the lamb chops. Service was very good and servers were polite. I will definitely come back.
Delicious food....friendly service....wait staff was cordial and responsive. Olive oil for bread actually had pepper flakes and garlic bits and parsley in it and was delicious. Everything was very tasty and though not fine dining...it is a find.
I went with my friend here after realizing that all the other good places in the neighborhood were booked. It was awful. The wine was bad, my salad was eh, and my pasta was terrible. I will pretty much eat anything if I'm hungry and I didn't finish my pasta. The host was friendly and our waitress was fine, but I would never go back here. What a waste of $50. A lesson learned in making reservations in a timely manner!
This restaurant has amazing prices and really great service! They have a price fix for $15, where you get an app and an entree. This is unheard of for Manhattan. They also had drink specials going on when we were there at 8pm. The service was also great, very friendly and attentive. I will definitely go back!
This is not a gourmet hot spot, just a reasonably priced, enthusiastically presented Italian restaurant that I would return to based on quality vs value. Our vegetarian diner was wowed by the eggplant appetizer that was entree sized and delicious. A chicken/sausage with shrimp garnish special was a bit dry in spite of a lemon wine sauce. And broccoli rabe too heavy with garlic. It almost burned! Basic pasta dishes dependable and tasty, plus any good pasta dish sold in the West Village for under $20 is a gem.
The menu board outside has one price w specials but the menu at table is more. Wait staff and managers dont change it so therefore are mis representing
Food had long wait. service was slow except for the great water guy
They ADD 18% gratuity on check and dont tell you
I only caught a few lies of theirs. I m afraid to know what I didnt catch
New York has too much to offer to go back there
We enjoyed our meal very much. The portions were perfect and the food was flavorful. The service was very good.
A small and very cozy restaurant in the heart of West Village that has delicious food and great service. Perfect romantic atmosphere, would be a nice spot for a date.
Food is bellow average at this W Village joint. Service distracted and inattentive and very limited menu choice. Had to wait even with reservation. Would avoid.
Zucci was disappointing. The restaurant was enticing enough when we entered and the best part of our evening was the wonderful helpful waiter. However the food arrived 2 minutes after we ordered and was truly terrible. The clams in the pasta with clam sauce we unchewable and my chicken dish couldn't be cut - even with a knife. The wine was fine and the restaurant was very inexpensive-for good reason. We had our dessert in an ice-cream shop around the corner.
Just below Sheridan Square this is a real find. The prices are very reasonable, the food is excellent, good portions, outstanding, friendly service, and a busy but not too hectic ambiance. They have tasty drink specials, as well as [unusual for an Italian restaurant] both red and white sangria. Chicken parmigiana was delicious, as was the eggplant appetizer. Chocolate hazelnut mousse in the shape of a cake was superb. Can't think of a single negative. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
