About Tapeo Restaurant and Tapas Bar
Tapeo offers great Spanish food in a European atmosphere. With authentic Spanish decor Tapeo can accommodate guests in two different dining rooms, whether it be near a fire place or large window overlooking Newbury Street in our Flamenco Dining Room or in a dim lite nook in our downstairs Bodega Room. We offer classic entrees, over 40 regional tapas, and a comprehensive, all-Spanish wine, sherry and spirits list. Tapeo also has outdoor seating, weather permitting. Thanks to a first-class pedigree (Somerville's award-winning Dali shares the same ownership) and an even better location (the heart of Newbury Street), Tapeo is easily the city's most popular Spanish restaurant.

Tapeo Restaurant and Tapas Bar Ratings and Reviews
We showed up right at the time of our reservation and had to stand around for 15 minutes because the hostess wasn't there. The food was only alright. The beer battered short ribs and the empanadas are good but the calamari was not very good (rubbery and luke warm when it came out). The churros however were very enjoyable.
I love tapas restaurants and when I saw this one on a recent trip, I just had to go check it out. We were in Boston for business and two of my crew and myself went to dinner. The waiter had great suggestions and answered all our questions. My business partner and I are adventurous eaters, but the other crew member is not, yet even he found plenty to offer and enjoyed three dishes. And the dessert was spectacular. Highly recommended!
Wonderful selection of well-prepared, reasonably priced tapas. Perfect for an informal gathering, sharing, ordering on an as-you-go basis. Service was slow but attentive. Nice outside eating area. The indoor dining areas are comfortable but a bit grubby and could use some attention or fresh coat of paint.
I was recommended this restaurant by a Bostonian and I thought the food and wine was very good. The wine list was actually superb. The waiting staff were very nice but a little hard to get hold of, but place was packed. We had the disadvantage of being next to a woman who could be heard above the whole restaurant (one kid kept covering his ears). Had it not been for her noise it would have been a really nice evening out.
Tapeo is a totally reliable tapas place that I've been to many times. They have all the tapas standards and good wine and (excellent and strong) cocktails. Service is attentive, the ambiance is pleasant and neither super-fancy nor a hole-in-the-wall. I'd always recommend trying the specials - we ordered two of them and they were our two favorites of the meal. I've dined here with my husband, with family, and with groups of colleagues and freinds - groups are the best because you get to try so many more things. I'll surely be back.
This place was a great place for a quiet meal on Newbury street. We had a table inside upstairs near the window for people watching. The food was fabulous. We had fried goat cheese, patatas bravas (sliced potatoes with spicy seasoning), lobster ravioli, beef tenderloin with chimichurri and lamb meatballs. Everything was great but our favorite was the lamb meatballs and the fried goat cheese. We would definitely go back again!
The tapas were brought out in batches so while our fried calamari was already cold and soggy, our croquettes were burn-your-tastebuds-off hot. Service was poor because it was so crowded on the Thursday evening and many of the larger groups seated by us (outdoors) were excessively boisterous. The price wasn't unreasonable, but charging $2 just for bread and a little bit of hummus seems like a rip-off. Would not recommend this restaurant.
Tapeo continues to offer excellent depth and breadth, and numerous gluten-free and veggie options. They also have some of the best sangria we've had (red and white). The weather wasn't great for outdoor dining, so indoors it was, and it was pretty quiet. Our foursome went through several pintxos, all of which we really liked, and some of which we repeated: patatas bravas, alchofas salteadas, gambas al ajillo, camarones a la plancha, ceviche, pipirrana de buey,
gorditas, and the classic tortilla espanola. Did I mention that the sangrias were really good? Fun place for a group, great for a twosome. Excellent service. Can't wait until next time.
