Mediterranean themed menu served tapas style in a casual, socially vibrant setting. Moderately priced food and award winning wine list with 38 wines by the glass.
When ever we are In South Bend we try to eat here as it is one of the best restaurants in the area.
Delicious food with plates to share, good service. We go here for a special date.
Enjoyed the food and concept, only real negative was the seating arrangements. Table in middle of narrow area, constantly being bumped by wait staff as the went in back and forth to serve the various customers.
There is a relaxed atmosphere and the service is very good. With tapas, you are never sure what small plate will arrive first but all of the food is outstanding . My husband and I shared the mixed paella and it was wonderful. The wine selection is quite notable as well.
The hunter's paella was quite disappointing. The texture was more like risotto than paella (very wet, with no cruncy bits at the bottom) and the flavor was quite bland. The rabbit meat was dry.
I say yes to recommendation but not on a busy night. We have dined here before and enjoyed it. Last night it was very busy. We ordered a starter of bread and butter and it did not come out until half way through our other meal items. I ordered a cheese and meat plate and never received it. I ordered the Spanikopita and it was dry and over cooked. I also order the falafal balls and they were very dry. We did not get our food for a long time and had to rush to get to our concert time after allowing 1 1/2 hours to eat. I was a little discouraged, but also realize that with a tapas style restaurant, timing is sometimes difficult anyway plus adding a crowd.
We have dined here before but on this night I give the service two stars. Very disappointed that our food was late and, another couple was served before us and they didn't have reservations. We had to eat quickly to make the concert and ended up not finishing our meal.
We love tapas and the quality of the food at Tapestrie is fabulous. James our server was fun and helpful as were all the other who brought us our food!
Each of our tapas choices was better than the last. The servings were plentiful! However, it would be nice if servings were in even numbers so 3 pieces don't have to be divided between 4 people. The sommelier was VERY helpful and the wines we chose were very pleasing. We took copies of the labels home to try again. THANK YOU! We tell all our friends who go to SB to try Tapastrie!
Great food, friendly staff and cozy atmosphere. It’s a win all the way around. Paella was a standout. Garlic shrimp was the least favorite just due to the size/quality of the shrimp - still tasty, though. We also ordered shishito peppers, the stuffed chicken breast, and salads (really fresh and delicious).
Wonderful location - right next door to Morris Performing Arts Center. Our Paella was excellent! Our tapas were not as good. Felt like the sauces - side of marmalade (cheese tapas) and the sauce (potatoes) - were skimpy.
Wonderful pre-show destination right next door to the Morris. Great food and service.
Pre-show dinner. We typically have dinner at Tapastrie before attending BTL performances. Good food and great location.
Tapestrie is super convenient if you are catching a show at the Morris Civic. The food was pretty good. Service got a bit slow as they became slammed, but our server was very friendly.
Our waitress was wonderful. When we were ordering she asked us how we would like for our food to be served? All together, in a certain order, as finished in the kitchen, etc.. Very much appreciated. We were having a girls' night and weren't in a hurry. She was perfect. We were able to talk to one another without shouting even though the restaurant was packed. We had a special request of no butter in one shrimp dish and they accommodated us! The only small negative was no American lite beer! We will be back!!!
Food was super flavorful and delicious. The wine machines are a great way to experience the restaurant and overall we had a wonderful time! Can’t wait to come back!
This was the second time my husband and I have dined here, And WE LOVE IT! I answer Outstanding in the survey to all the questions, and I really mean it! Our server was so nice and I was telling her what I thought of the FlatIron Steak I order....that it was the best I've had and she asked if I would like to talk to the chef, and of course, I said yes and so "Ian" came to the table and we were able to tell him in person how fabulous our dinner was....he was incredibly humble and nice!
You got a good thing going and we'll be back:)
Oh...by the way...that BUTTER! :)
Always a very solid performer with excellent, attentive service and creative menu options.
Great! Love Wally!
Lovely location , great food/wine and service. We will be back.
Tapastrie had an innovative menu and fantastic wine offerings. Highly recommend and will dine there again when I next visit South Bend.
Ambiance and service were great. Food was delicious but hot delivery was a challenge. Overall excellent experience with exceptional wines available.
Great food! Great service!
We love Tapastrie! Always excellent food and service!
This was our first time at Tapastrie. We went after an ND football game. Everything was outstanding. I thought the tapas offerings were interesting. Our server was exceptional as well. I highly recommended. We'll be back next time we are in South Bend.
Had an enjoyable experience.
Just st wish wines were less pricey.
Vegan foods were wonderful!
I am a frequent diner here, but this night, I brought my sister-in-law who lives out of town and had never been to a tapas restaurant before. We ordered off of the DTSB Summer Restaurant Week menu, which was a nice simplification of their larger menu and hit the highest notes. The atmosphere was lively and upbeat, offering great people watching on a First Friday night with glorious summer weather. I love bringing friends and family to Tapastrie because I know the food will be delicious and the bar service (with a fabulous wine list) will be excellent. Wait staff is first class without making you feel stupid if you don't know what to order/how to do tapas. It is always a special meal at Tapastrie.
Excellent overall! Our favorite restaurant in South Bend.
A restaurant in downtown South Bend that is absolutely fit for foodies!
We always enjoy our meal here, and the value during DTSB Restaurant week can't be beat. Our only criticism was how quickly the food was being brought out. I had to ask a server to wait a bit for the final set of entrees. We already have a return visit booked for next weekend!
I brought four friends who had just finished a great but hard working conference to Tapastrie recently. They loved the food and were constantly pleased as the series of tapas was delivered to the table. Our waiter was new and needs some guidance, but he tried and we enjoyed ourselves greatly.
Overall, I wasn’t too impressed. Service was fast and professional. Food taste was very bland the day we came in. Atmosphere was great, very Chicago feeing. I’d say give the place a try, we just went too impressed with it likely because we set an expectation that it would be better.
This is the most creative restaurant in South Bend for food and beverage. Their paella is on par with any paella made in Spain. Their wine selections are excellent. Their tapas menu offers a wide range of alternatives especially if you are dining with someone on a vegetarian diet. Their servers are great on pacing the tapas and are very attentive to your needs. The restaurant's ambience allows for excellent table conversation and the owners are very attentive to all their customers needs.
Excellent food, good service. Convenient location.
I live in Chicago. This did not compare to the tapas restaurants in Chicago. The wait staff needs to be more educated with the menu. Although they were very friendly and attentive, they could not provide additional information about the food other than what was already on the menu. My husband and I tried the Iberico pork. Nothing special to us. The food was OKAY. We sat outside and it was a great location. I wouldn't go back for the food, but if you are looking for decent food with a nice location to sit outside, this was perfect.
Food was great. The staff was a bit arrogant and condescending.
Excellent service and our waitress did a great job explaining how tapas works. Food came out well prepared. A unique experience we may not be able to have for a long time. Only complaint was the restaurant was louder than expected.
The Mediterranean dip sampler is excellent. Lamb meatballs are superb. Pork kabob was a little dry.
A DTSB treasure. Terrific tapas with many vegan options. The food was delicious and the wine/drink selection was amazing, too. Nice vibe, too!
Such a great experience! I visited with a group of girls for a bachelorette party. They were very accommodating as we were running late because of flights, and did all they could to ensure we had a great experience. The place has a trendy elegance to it, while still feeling comfortable and not stuck up.
The food and drinks:
The drink options were almost overwhelming! There were so many with the added option of trying multiple wines with a loadable card. We all had the 3 sangrias, and they did not disappoint. A bit on the sweet side, so think more like a wine cocktail than a dry wine.
We ordered many tapas and one steak, which cut like butter. My favorite bite was either the stuffed mushroom or the date. Definitely try those!
All in all, I would definitely frequent Tapastrie for special occasions if I lived there. I recommend!
