Great meal and a couple of drinks...for very reasonable cost. The lamb on portobello mushrooms was the highlight but it was all good. Nice atmosphere and good service. Would definitely come again.
Was not happy with the service. Took way too long to both get our order, but even getting a check took forever.
the food was very good. a very large selection of dishes. The service was particularly attentive.
Brian, our waiter, was outstanding! Enjoyed the bacon wrapped dates, loved the pear tart. Did not care for the tenderloin or the goat cheese in tomato/basil sauce with pesto toast <-Café Baba Reeba does that MUCH better. Glasses of cava on special for $5 the Sunday we visited and it was quite good. Stuffed mushrooms were ok. Seared scallops were good as was the beet salad. Stay away from the garlic shrimp.
As always, the food was excellent. This time, our waiter was a bit lacking in attention. He didn't bring us our bread and olive oil to start with.
Left us for 10 minutes after first greeting us and finally came back to take our drink order. Other than that, everything was good as always.
Fast service! Great food!
Tapas Valencia is an excellent Spanish restaurant. It features an extensive selection of hot and cold tapas, as well as entree size dishes. We enjoy taking friends and family to dine at Tapas Valencia not only because the food is delicious, but also because the service is superior. We have never had a dish that was merely average and can enthusiastically recommend the entire menu, confident that you will like any dish you order. They have a very good wine list and offer all of our favorite Spanish wines.
This is my second time at Tapas Valencia and it was just as great as the first time. The server was able to speak of the menu and recommend items which were in fact very delicious to try. The ambiance was quiet, but very much awake-the perfect way to spend my brother's birthday dinner. I would definitely recommend for the service and the delicious food.
Affordable, delicious, friendly staff....next time I am in town I will dinner here again!
Great tapas, especially the octopus and the goat cheese. And the coconut flan.
Excellent tapas. Delightful staff.
My first visit to Tapas Valencia. The food was very good. The sangria was average. The service was very good. I will definitely make a return visit when the weather warms. I would like to get a feel for the place on a warm weekend evening when the street side tables are available.
A return trip and did not disappoint. Group ordered about a dozen dishes and all were delicious! Service can be tricky, but our waitress was a pro. Highlights were a goat cheese-filled pastry, bacon-wrapped dates and dessert. Profiteroles and lava cake. Someone in the kitchen knows their chocolate! Peach sangria was a great twist. Can’t wait to go back.
I have been to this restaurant before and remembered it being much better. The sangria is quite good, but the food was average, nothing spectacular. There are many traditional Spanish tapas, but the flavors leave something to be desired.
This Tapas Place was wonderful. We wanted to try someplace new and South of the loop. Found it online. The decor was very engaging, the food suburb, the Service great. Our server had several recommendations that we followed and we loved. The sangria was very good and the manager come over to give us some additional information. We definitely will be back.
Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere. We love this place!!
I thought the food was pretty great. There was a nice variety of cold and hot tapas and the preparation and craftsmanship of them really made every dish truly great. I wish I could provide further positive feedback but I can't. Although our server seemed nice, her service was pretty slow, distant, uninterested, and highly absent. It took forever for us to get our drinks and we had to wait over 30 minutes to get 2 desserts. There were various times I had to flag down other servers and even the hostess to get things I we needed and to settle my bill. Also, I found it very odd and inconvenient that customers can't settle a bill with multiple forms of payment or get separate checks. And, it's even more ridiculous to be told that "we can't do that because our system does not allow it". I worked in this industry for over 10 years and know that, to split a check the only thing that needs to be done is to void the existing check, re-ring it as 2 separate ones, and tell the kitchen to not make it.
Over the course of my career, I have found that what makes customers come back is not only the food but they way they are made feel during their dining experience. Unfortunately, for us this is not a place we will be back or recommend to friends. We traveled 48 miles to try this out and were deeply disappointed. Luckily, Chicago has many more wonderful options available.
Bryan was our server and did a fantastic job! Great menu recommendations for us and handled the situation well when 6 more people arrived at the restaurant wanting to join our party of 3! Thanks also to the hostess for finding a larger table to accommodate all of us (9 people total) on short notice, on a busy Saturday night. The live music was great and the flamenco dancer was a fun addition to the band. Menu variety was great - many options. Tapas was tasty and cocktails were great. Watch out for the cava sangria pitchers - strong! It didn't take much to feel the effects. Desserts were yummy too. We had a great time! Highly recommend! We will definitely be back the next time we are in town!
Nice little neighborhood location in South Loop. Good food, great service.
Our group tried Tapas Valencia last year while in Chicago attending a business conference. We were so impressed that we returned this year. We went around the table, each ordering a dish for a "round" of fine dining. Add a pitcher of sangria and it made for a fun experience.
One of my favorite tapas places in the city, the service is beyond excellent!
Always have great seafood, drinks, and desserts!
Always a good experience. I need to make a mental note to make my reservations a bit later on Saturday night so I can enjoy more of the live music.
Although out paellas always come out much faster than the time indicated, it's a good idea to place your order ahead of time if you wanted to order one.
Our waitress was so awesome!
This used to be a favorite of ours, but we stopped going awhile ago when a change in chef made the dishes unreliable. What a wonderful surprise to return to an all-excellent meal. Each dish was one I'll order again--and the sooner, the better, though I also look forward to trying new ones. If I have to single out any, it would be the pulpo and solomillo. We won't go again without adding those to our meal. Mmmmmmm, good!
Made reservations for 7 for both my daughters birthday. The food came out at appropriate times, allowing us to pass, enjoy and converse. Our waitress was knowledgeable and fun! And at the end, she provided ice cream puffs for the birthday girls....which was certainly enough for all of us! The food still has me drooling!!
Always a great evening with excellent food and drink. Friends who had never been, were very impressed. You made new fans! We come often for the happy hour at the bar.
Great staff and Chris the manager was attentive!
Great Service and Terrific Tapas. We will definitely go back when we are in the South Loop. Already recommended this spot to friends and Family.
Our experience was outstanding from the food to the service. The menu was easy to navigate. The choices were plentiful. There were a variety of flavors and combinations. We tried 7 tapas and 3 desserts. We were extremely happy. Thank you for our visit.
I have been to Tapas Valencia many times. Never disappointed. This last visit, our server was Jose. He made the experience even more enjoyable.
Overall great experience! Would recommend to others.
Thank you Margarita and Jose for another wonderful evening at your restaurant. We love coming to Tapas for the excellent food and especially for the wonderful people who treat us like family every time we come.
I didn't really think about this too much because I was visiting with an old friend. However, we didn't' get water refills, only one time did they ask about drinks and it wasn't until the end of our dinner at that point water would have been nice but not another alchololic drink. Anyway, food was ok. Not specatcular. I probably wouldn't go hear again... maybe it's a nice place for a neighborhood restaurant but not for a night out. The waitress was really nice when she checked on us and it wasn't even crowded.
The food was excellent. We tried the Restaurant week menu. Great! Restaurant week is a great opportunity to try new places
A very vibrant menu
Plates were very well prepared
Unique spin to dishes that I like
First time at this restaurant. Food and service was great. Definitely a repeat.
Great for sharing and trying new things. Excellent dessert. $6 valet parking!
Great time. People were friendly from walking in the door to leaving. Definitely going back.
Always a go-to for special dining. Great service. Great ambience. Better food!
