Paellas

Originating in its modern form in the mid-19th century near Lake Albufera, a lagoon in Valencia, on the east coast of Spain, Paella quickly became an iconic dish of Valencia and Spain in turn. According to tradition in Valencia, paella is cooked by men over an open fire, fueled by orange and pine branches along with pine cones. This produces an aromatic smoke which infuses the paella. Additionally, dinner guests traditionally eat directly out of the paellera. Add chorizo to any paella for $4.50 ~ bay scallops for $8 ~ 6 shrimp for $12~ 3 oz Lobster for $22. Please allow for up to 45 minutes of cooking time.

What a gem! Tapas Valencia has an outstanding tapas happy hour daily, where you can get your fill on small bites of many of their menu items. The dining room and bar have cool mosaics. Food was outstanding. After trying 6 of the happy hour bites, we ordered 4 regular menu items plus dessert. Our great bartender Andre provided good advice on our selections. The lamb chops had unique, delicious flavor. The steak medallions literally melted in your mouth they were so tender. The accompaniment to the salmon added wonderful flavor. Drinks were also fabulous and generous. Highly recommend.

I was excited to try another place in the neighborhood but it was a bit underwhelming. The appetizers and sangria were great. Specifically the tostada de Plato and queso cabra. We got the paella marisco for main course and it was lacking flavor, disappointing. The service was very kind and helpful when they were at the table but it was long intervals until we saw them.

For a restaurant week, the menu for 2 barely has enough food for 2 people and you must choose the same items. The price of $42/person before tax is not justifiable for this experience. It should be the lunch menu instead of dinner, and the price should be $25/person range for it to be considered reasonably good. Otherwise the cook of beef short ribs is to the point, very tasty. However with this current price, you better stay away from the restaurant week menu and find something else in the menu for your own satisfaction and for the worth of spending.

The dates wrapped in bacon are PHENOMENAL!! The patas bravas could have been a little bit more hot (temperature wise).. after all they are part of the hot tapas selection. The grilled octopus another excellent choice; grilled to perfection, not chewy & the salsa verde that comes with it— yum! We also had the Valenciana Paella, could have had a little bit of salt — in my opinion, but nonetheless delicious!

We have been going to Tapas Valencia for years and have always enjoyed the food. Of late, the prices have increased beyond what can be attributed to inflation. Unfortunately, this means that we will not be able to go there as much as we would like to.

The expectation for a delicious and flavorful Paella was expected when we decided to visit this restaurant. My boyfriend and I were disappointed that it was the total opposite. Appetizers were delicious. If we decide to visit again, it’ll be only for the appetizers.

This was my first visit to Tapas Valencia although I've been to their sister propery Meson Sabika many times. The food is terrific and the service is excellent!
